I think the difference is that those groups were documenting "work" that they'd done (those Nazi's are sticklers for orderly records), as opposed to recording their deeds specifically so somebody could get their jollies out of it afterward.
Similarly, al-Qaeda execution videos are sold by street vendors in some parts of thw world, but they weren't created with monetary gain in mind.

Being 40, I vaguely remember a "more innocent time" (it makes you wonder if people said that phrase after the Mongols went home or the Crusades ended.). Didn't the Nazi executioners and the Imperial Japanese forces film their own crimes? Wouldn't those be snuff films? In any case, you made another amusing video. Dressing yourself as the alleged snuff-killer in the low lighting is a very nice touch.
