Your Eli Roth hate is pretty funny. His movies aren't anything special but they're decent time wasters. But I think I just like Eli more as a person than a filmmaker. Though I kinda had it with Hostel 2. It suffered from the same "Why should I give a shit about these annoying bitches" syndrome that plagued Death Proof.
Also, Pancakes Kid was probably the best part of Cabin Fever. I love totally random moments that don't fit in movies, much like the "Cool Beans" scene from Hot Rod.
Anyway, I've been kinda wanting to check Cabin Fever 2 out and now I think I'm going to. Reply to this

Cabin Fever is the worst horror film ever made. Worse than "Troll 2", worse than "don't go in the woods, alone" and even worse than the first 40 mins of "Hostel". Not only is the comedy flat, the horror has no tension and it doesn't make sense from one scene to the next. Eli Roth is a terrible film maker. A gormless perma-teen, who you can just imagine pitches his ideas thus" I see blood, breasts, more blood, hot chicks, even more blood, blood dripping on blood, more breasts, more blood and possibly some poo. OK Cabin Fever isn't the worst horror film ever, but I hate it. You know, when you're discussing films with someone and they have similar tastes, but fundamentally don't understand what the value of those films is. Well that's what Cabin Fever is like. It's the work of someone who seems to think exploitation films or horror are "so bad, they're, good" and that they don't need substance, coherence, characters, good jokes or real impact. Cabin Fever is bad because it treats all it's source material as exactly the same. In the world Eli Roth creates there is no difference between, genius, enjoyable rubbish, good but flawed, hack work and the endearingly inept. It's a sneering, smarmy, exercise in misplaced egotism and to me that makes it worse than terrible. Reply to this

As for the original Cabin Fever: Worst movie that I've ever seen. That scene where they stow the girl in the shed was ludicrous. So you would recommend this movie for a lazy Saturday?

Based on your review I decided to give it a watch.
Now I don't hate Eli Roth, nor did I hate his movies, the first Cabin Fever was pretty forgettable.
This... I alternated between laughing my ass off and going EWWW GROSS!
Really liked this one. Great 80's vibe, cool soundtrack(really need to find out who did the song during the credits) and good mixture of humor and gore. Also a lot of funny movie references like Evil Dead, Carrie, Twin Peaks, Nailgun Massacre(?).
This one goes on my DVD wishlist.

Me and my buddy watched this over at his place earlier today. We really liked it! Yeah, it does end rather abruptly but that didn't take away my enjoyment of the film. If you love early 80's throwback horror then you'll like this movie.
I'm really kinda at odds with the original "Cabin Fever". There are things that I really liked about it and things that annoyed the hell out of me(mainly the characters). Despite the bad things about it I still think it's a very fun and entertaining horror flick! Sorry, Brad.

In all honesty from the way you're making this film sound, Ti West has been born into the wrong decade of horror film making. This sounds like if it had a nice dose of 80s cheese in it it would be a fucking classic (minus whatever happened to the ending). I mean high school setting plus pure gross out style horror. Got 80s written all over it.
I'm actually gonna have to watch this I think. Not sure that I could face the embarassment of having to explain why I've got a dvd with the words "Cabin Fever" on it on my dvd shelf though.

I could listen to you verbally destroy Eli Roth and Cabin Fever all night long.

I watched it and found it good in parts but over all extremely average.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I heard that Ti West was recommended to do Cabin Fever 2 by Eli Roth himself.

I watched this movie just because you recomended it. I should do that more often. I haven't seen the first one, but I heard/read it was horrible. The nail scene didn't make me twitch...untill he tried to put it back on. I lost a nail when I was like 8, and even I knew just to stick a band-aid over the nail bed, not shove the nail back in.

Nice one Chief,
I hated Cabin Fever so much, I had to see the sequel just so I could hate it again. But Cabin Fever 2 was so good, I thought maybe I was wrong about the first one.
I was not. And I can get some hip people to do a cameo". Cabin fever 2 is good, Cabin Fever is abysmal, very abysmal and even more abysmal on second viewing!

Cabin fever was totall cr*p but I'm not sure its good enough to be the worst horror ever if that makes sense. But a totall waste of a decent budget. Interesting that Glenn thinks the sequel is good, don't think I'll bother.

Brad, i totaly agree that cabin fever 1 is one of the worst piece of shit. i lived 20 years and i didn't saw something worst. It just so bad. When the best scene of a movie is a pointles pancakes scenes, you know that it is bad, and really bad. it was so bad, that i wanted to kill myself because there was a two. I still think that if you liked cabin fever, You are a "inculte"(sorry for the expressions).
just continu your great work to tell the world that cabin fever is a piece of poopoo.

So there's a scene where someone gets in trouble for standing up for himself and you don't like it because it's "unrealistic? How long have you been living on earth, Brad? Can you take me to your planet? It sounds wonderful.

It's strange, I didn't know the director here did House of the Devil, but when you started talking about how it made you feel as if the director grew up on the same movies as you, I immediately thought of House of the Devil. I'm going to have to start following this guy's work, because clearly he knows what I want to see.
As for the original Cabin Fever: Worst movie that I've ever seen. That scene where they stow the girl in the shed was ludicrous. She was supposed to be the main character's love interest; he had apparently had a crush on her for years, yet when she comes down with the flu, it's time to lock her away in a dank shed for the weekend. It was the stupidest thing that I've ever seen on film.
Thanks for the tip on this one, I'll be sure to check it out as soon as I can.

I'm going to be the black sheep here and admit that I actually fucking liked Cabin Fever. Judging from the fact that virtually everyone I've ever talked to who hated Cabin Fever brought up the pancakes scene, I'm convinced that after Eli Roth struck out with that joke everyone who was watching just started frothing at the mouth and shouting "WORSTFUCKINGMOVIEIVEEVERSEENINMYLIFEYOUPIECEOFSHITIHATEYOU..." and so on. Personally, I'd rather watch cabin Fever than a lot of the absolute shit that comes out that actually get good reviews. But that's just my two cents.

I think Ti West will start directing bigger movies soon. I've only seen two of his five movies but I like both of them. I've seen Cabin Fever 2 and The House of the Devil and they are both great movies. You should check out House of the Devil. I think you'll like that one too.

About the Military Guys, they were in the end of the First one, in the kindo of tribute to "Night of the Living Dead" where the Guy comes out of the House Un-infected and gets shot any way. Thanks

Supposedly, Lionsgate recut Cabin Fever 2 to the dislike of Ti West. West wanted to use the Alan Smithee credit, but couldn't because he was not a DGA member (think Russell Mulcahy and Highlander 2).

Hey Brad. What did you think of the Thanksgiving trailer that Roth directed for Grindhouse. I liked that.

I really got to see both of this movies. Edge of Darkness just to see Mel Gibson on the silver screen again, seeing I grew up with movies like Mad Max and Lethal Weapon I really missed the guy. Also Book of Eli looks pretty bad ass with machete wielding Denzel and to see hot Mila Kunis, a really overrated actress of Hollywood.

i don't hate or love cabin fever..it's one of those movies I've always felt kind of "meh" about maybe because i never realized it was supposed to be funny, but i do own it (bought on clearance for 1.99) mostly so i could listen to the commentaries...in which we learn that if eli roth had his way he would of made a whole movie about that cop character you hate so much.
with this in mind i happily hopped on my trusty laptop and sat down to watch cabin fever 2 with my boyfriend beside me. after it was over the only good things i had to say about it were "that was a pretty awesome song during the opening animation" and "it had some good gore" but story wise...wasn't feeling it.
so on the whole i would say it's about even with the original cabin fever in my book.

"saying a normal word but doing it in a weird voice and putting, like, karate moves and, like, physical stuff along with it."
Eli Roth and Dane Cook base their "comedy" on the same damn thing.

I must be part of the small, minority cult that likes Cabin Fever 1. I like to think that the way this movie fails in some sections is another reason that makes it funny, like Battlefield Earth or Batman and Robin. But to me, the gory scenes and the dark environmental moments really do seem believeable. As for the comedy, come on now! They're your everyday college kids, almost at grown-up level; they're comedy is not supposed to be the best you've heard. It's one of those instances of comedy you'd get at Comedy Central Roasts. Finally, I'm getting sick of this constant bashing of Eli Roth.

well after this review I decided I had to watch it so that is what I am about to do. My little sister saw the movie and she thought it was stupid but than again she is the one who liked the first cabin fever. I didn't really care one way or another about the first movie, I only watched it for Rider Strong because I loved boy meets world as a kid. Sure the first had some gross out scenes but it isn't a memorable movie for me and I just don't care much about it. I will give the second one a chance and we will see if I like it or not.

Just finished watching the movie and it was pretty good. It had a few parts I thought were kinda stupid but overall I enjoyed it and it was a hundred times more interesting than the first one.

I don't know. I personally like the first Cabin Fever. The second one just disgusted me, and I've seen a lot of gross sh*t. The intro and outro animation was stupid and the whole movie was just gross. I hated the characters and was glad to see them all die.
