Yeah you bring up an interesting subject Brad. This zombie outbreaks shouldn't happen anymore seeing how much our society is presented by different mediums. They should stick to saying: Oh this happened in the 60s or 70s when we didn't have mobile phones with cameras and Youtube and Facebook so anyone everywhere knew what was happening on the other side of the Globe. But I guess the scare wouldn't be that effective since part of being afraid of a subject in a movie is that it's possible to happen in modern times, even if it's implausible that an outbreak would happen silently in a populated are. Still sounds like an awesome movie for my zombie/infected craves.

The real reason that zombie outbreaks shouldn't happen in the youtube era is that it leads to movies like "Diary of the Dead", one of the most laughably awful movies in recent memory.

You should do a review from Lloyd's perspective for April Fools or something. I wonder what he thinks of Burial Ground. Maybe he likes it? Or maybe he's a bigger snob than the Cinema Snob and only watches Gus Van Sant films.

I watched this whole review and I still don't know what Lloyd thought of the film
Other then that I was wondering if fans of the original would get pissed off by the remake, so that clears it up for me. It sounds like a movie I might wanna just wait and rent.

Wow, another remake. And it's about murderous rampaging "fast" zombies, which has only been done about 12,000 times in the past ten years (Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, "Dawn" remake, "Day" remake, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead, Undead, etc. etc.). I sure am excited to see that! Although, personally, I'd much rather see a remake of George A. Romero's 1974 O.J. Simpson biopic "Juice on the Loose."

I thought the film was a fairly decent remake to the original. Although,for some reason, "The Crazies" isn't one of my favorites of Romero's. "Martin" and "Knightriders" are two that I consider to be his best. I hope they don't try to remake either of those.
I didn't realize that it was Lynn Lowry making a cameo appearance as the crazy lady on the bicycle. She still looks pretty for her age. I loved her in Cronenberg's "Shivers" a.k.a "They Came From Within". She is so hot in that film!!

hey Brad, great stuff you're doing,keep up the good work. Kudos on the new camera (if this is the new camera)....one thing I wanna suggest to you (unless you already know this then i'm just a douchey ass) is when you're focusing on someone, zoom all the way onto your subject, focus, then set up your shot. I noticed it was kinda out of focus but there could've been numerous reasons why. Just a thought

I loved the original Crazies. I'm glad the remake is good. There's an 80s film similar to it and Cabin Fever and I can't think what its called? All I know is that it starred some bloke who I think may have played one of the Kennedy's. So to recap, a film that starred a bloke and its about contaminated water or something?

Well as the movie is presented as a fictional town about 20 miles due north of me it hit a little closer to home.
The Stinger with the News anchor was great because he is the real anchor in real life Cedar Rapids Iowa.
In the beginning they used the lat. and long. of the city they based the town on which is about 150 miles from Cedar Rapids though so walking that would be pretty hard.
On the movie itself.
I think one of the things that stood out to me was the differentiation of the "Military" and the "Solders" with the Solders being just as much innocent patsies as everyone else.
The whole "stabbed hand neck grab" was a big thing for me and my friends. yes it was awesome but damn if you weren't infected before you sure as hell are now buddy!!! It's one thing to get sick from mater but INJECTING infected blood is another matter, I don't care what it is it has to get through the body somehow.
The different types of "crazy" seem to follow a fairly linear progression to the same endpoint except for the deputy, maybe it was because he only ever drank coffee? Boiling kills germs and viruses though not enough apparently. The whole "after 48 hours you either have it or you don't" hand wave was really tension breaking obviously put there by focus groups and poked all sorts of plot holes into things.
I haven't seen the original but I have to now just for completion sake.

didn't see "the crazies" yet, gotta see the original first, before the remake starts in germany (some time in may i think). is the original recommendable? (i know, i know, it's romero - but remember: the guy did "land of the dead" and "diarrhea/diary of the dead", two of the worst fucking zombie movies i've seen so far.

I haven't seen this movie yet but I would like to recommend a really good vampire flick titled, 'Let the Right One In'...It's a Dutch film so if you don't like subtitles, pass on it.

I couldn't help but laugh at the scene where they are looking at a map saying that they can make it to Cedar Rapids from where they are in 15 minutes. That's fine except I live in Iowa, and cedar rapids was about 500 miles away because its on the other side of the state, its not like they didn't know they did have a map

WOW Damn I never heard of George Lazenby but it looked like he would've been a great James Bond to carry on the mantle of Sean Connery but because of the smoke in those times he didn't make a good decisions. I mean damn I think the whole crew was high in that movie.

I thought that the original was total garbage. I had a hard time sitting through it, even with other people. I can appreciate a few aspects about it, but overall I hated it. it didnt have good action or a a good story to fall back on. The characters were not very good and there were about 205,843 scenes with military guys bickering about what to do about the epidemic situation. This wasnt as much of a cliche back then and I thought it was interesting..... the first half dozen times they did the exact same scene. honestly, there are also alot of 70s elements to it that havent aged well.
also, it doesnt really appeal to any genre. its not really a horror movie (it has far too many silly moments), its not campy enough to be a comedy, its not presented in a consistently serious tone and is certainly not a drama and its not exciting enough to be an action movie. its just a "nothing" movie. I think it was just a waste of time. the remake is, pretty much, superior in every single way. I dont normally say this about horror remakes.
