Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

I thought that the original was total garbage. I had a hard time sitting through it, even with other people. I can appreciate a few aspects about it, but overall I hated it. it didnt have good action or a a good story to fall back on. The characters were not very good and there were about 205,843 scenes with military guys bickering about what to do about the epidemic situation. This wasnt as much of a cliche back then and I thought it was interesting..... the first half dozen times they did the exact same scene. honestly, there are also alot of 70s elements to it that havent aged well.
also, it doesnt really appeal to any genre. its not really a horror movie (it has far too many silly moments), its not campy enough to be a comedy, its not presented in a consistently serious tone and is certainly not a drama and its not exciting enough to be an action movie. its just a "nothing" movie. I think it was just a waste of time. the remake is, pretty much, superior in every single way. I dont normally say this about horror remakes.
