Troma was not the primary release label as the original title was "The Curse of the Screaming Dead". This was originally put out in the 80's by MOGUL Home Video.
The scariest thing about this movie is that it's a director's remake of "Night of Horror" , the Evil Dead to CotCC's Evil Dead 2. From what I've heard Night of Horror is, somehow, slightly worse overall.

It's strikingly similar, yes. The ending may be different but the diary and premise alone is just the same. Too much so to be coincidental.

You're missing the symbolism. The Confederate corpses represented the Old South. The campers/vagrants represented Reconstruction. The diary, obviously, is a reference to the undead Rebels' desire to have a proper place in history. Married life has dulled your senses.

This movie is so badly acted, poorly edited, shittly directed, badly soundtested,and Uwe-Boll class-prdouced, and just so insulting to the point where I feel sorry for the bastards responsible for The Confederacy, that I'm surprised this guy hasn't touched Manos: The Hands of Fate without feeling the Ark of The Covenant's face-melting sting of doom...
If Cinema Snob can survive this, clearly he can survive Manos, even though this movie isw an insult to a part of America's past that is deserving of that!! That should NOT BE POSSIBLE!!!

I actually emailed him about that one a few weeks ago. Said he saw part of it and that it looked promising.
Maybe if there's enough demand he'll do it, but it only came out around 8-10 years ago, so it might be too recent.

This was a hilarious episode. I'm really sick right now, so its hard to laugh without coughing. Needless to say, I couldn't really breathe well through out the episode. Good stuff. I think the break helped you refocus, your jokes hit their marks very well here.
Anyway, sorry, just tryin to say great episode and I'm glad to see some new snob. =)

Actually, the Confederates often wore blue uniforms because the South didn't provide their soldiers with standard gray uniforms. The soldiers (often former US soldiers) would thus wear any military garb, blue or gray.

Even my obssesion like tastes for horrible movies was nauseated by the awfulness of this. At least some of the costumes shots especially the "crispy" ones looked like something a serial killer might use to scare the crud out of his victims.
This definitely looks like something from 1973.
Thank you majestic Cinema Snob for warning us of this horror which lurks somewhere..out there.

Your acting is really good on this one. You get better and better. Though it still feels strange seeing the CS break character more and more often.

Question: Was the strange hall on the source or did something happen during conversion? It's really annoying. It sounds like they recorded the voices in an empty parking garage.

Brad, "Tony Starke" is a nom de crap-flick for the director of the "movie", Tony Malinowski. I've never seen "Curse of the Cannibal Confederates"....instead I slogged through "Night of Terror", his 1977 prototype of this "film." The only dead people in that movie are the dead Confederates; here we get the pathetic death of that geezer cop. I think the only reason Malinowski doesn't kill off his cast is because they were his friends! The crew over at The Agony Booth (www.agonybooth.com) reviewed this flick years ago and Tony Malinowski actually took comments on their message board....if I had made anything as bad as those two films I would try to forget they were ever made like the director of "Death Bed." I agree with your notion that "CCC" wasn't made in 1982; I got the vibe that the flick was shot in the late 1970s, then edited years later because funds ran out. I would be not be suprised if the film was finished for the early-80s home video market and never saw a commercial release.

If I may make a comment here about this video, I have noticed you are MUCH more snobbish in this video than in a lot of your more recent ones, definatly a throw back to your earlier Snobish videos. This works a lot better, as it better seperates your demeanor than in Vlog videos or your "just you" reviews. Keep up the snob!

I went back and watched most of the Cinema Snob reviews. According to my calculations, you have made 6 Pod People references in 5 different episodes. I didn't watch Holocaust 2, the Sexplotation Triple Feature, or Salo again because I don't care for those episodes. If anyone else would like to watch those for Pod People references, they can feel free. Yes, I do have a lot of time on my hands. I have also noted that you have made more references to Eegah and Jason Blade than Pod People. I think you owe Pod People a review for the shocking lack of references. I expected more Pod People references than that when I started this week long adventure through Cinema Snob episodes. Love the show Brad, keep it up.
