You don't drink Soft drinks often because of the negative effects...
but I have a feeling you drink Alcohol. I know, that's kind of odd, but I think that most people pretend like what they are doing is right, but a lot of people in this world rationalize drinking alcohol. People smoke cigarettes and pot, drink alcohol, and then go and give a billion reasons why it's ok to do it. I think that there's a major problem with those kinds of things. In fact, I have a general distrust/disliking for any thing drug related, including Tylenol. I don't want to be altered like that, and I actually have a weak stomach for the funny feeling caused by it. I also really hate Nitrous Oxide. But I digress...
I get headaches from drinking caffeinated sodas, so I'm probably not going to try this new flavor. I prefer root beers over Mountain Dew anyways. I generally only use what will benefit my life, and I don't think soda will really do that. Reply to this

That's weird, I have trouble finding White Out too. The last time I've been at a gas station, White Out was gone but the other two were there. It's basically fruit punch soda with a more pronounced mango flavor.
Overall, I'm not impressed with this year's new Dew flavors as opposed to last year's. I really wish we'd get Revolution or the other one that's not Voltage back. I like Voltage and all but it tasted like I had it before, whereas the other two were more original.

You should see if you can track down one of my favorites that was only being made for a short while back in the late 90s by Clearly Canadian. It was called Orbitz. Yeah, like the travel company. It came in five flavors. Two of them were literally headache-inducing (the black currant one and the one that was pineapple-ish? All of the flavors were combinations of at least two flavors), but the other three flavors were AMAZING (vanilla-orange most especially). The gimmick, as every rare beverage must have a gimmick, was that it had small balls of colored gelatin that floated all throughout the drink. But like I said, it was actually good! It was like a really tasty drink with something to chew... kinda like bubble tea, only the balls aren't nasty tapioca.

And also had no after taste. But I think the difference is with the can and bottle. I love barq's in can but its just okay in a bottle. If you go on a tour of a soda factory, you get to try all the different flavors they made and make.
And you can special order soda directly from those said factories as well. So, if you're willing to spend a little extra on it, you can buy a case of Crystal Pepsi to enjoy at home.

White out is one of three flavors MT. Dew is promoting, you can vote for which is better. Most seem to think White out is good, it's the most popular. Try Mt. Dew Typhoon next time (The Red-Orange one). Avoid Distortion (The Green one that you might mistake for a regular Dew), it's the worst of 'em, IMHO.
Reply to this
Honestly, Distortion is my favorite of all three. It reminds me of the closest thing to my long lost beloved Surge, I've had in ages. Mmm...

Let me guess...

Huh, what special sodas do we have in Germany? It's all coke, pepsi and the discounter copies of those. There's "Afri Cola" but that's nothing special imho.
I once tried "Asahi", a japanese beer. Not bad, but it lacked the little bit of bitterness you'd expect in a beer.
My favorite soda is Coca Cola light with green tea. Delicious (unless you hate coke light anyway).

Asahi is pretty good yes. I found it to be very dry though.
Lol Brad should try Inca Kola. Now that's something that will make your teeth rot in 5 seconds. It's a popular softdrink from Peru. It's good but insanely sweet.

I liked Afri-Cola but it's not for the faint of heart (it has as much caffeine per bottle as an espresso). Seek out the psychedelic 60s ads by Charles Wilp online, they're crazy! Beverages and More used to sell it in the States but I don't know if they still do. (You used to be able to get it at Fuddrucker's, too, but they quit carrying it.)
The nastiest soda I ever tried was birch beer, which tasted like Vick's Formula 44 and nearly made me puke. There was also Ruby Red Squirt, which I actually bought myself. It was so bitter and nasty I couldn't finish the bottle.
Reply to this
Oh, the reason you felt sick from the birch beer was because it always has a strong taste. It's not bad if you like root beer because it's similar to it in taste, but it can surprise you.

Why don't you just buy vanilla extract to put in your coke? It is only a dollar a bottle in the baking section of your grocery store and it doesn't taste as artificial. It tastes like actual vanilla. I like it a lot, it adds a smoothness to the coke. But if it's a can or a smaller botttle, drink a little bit off the top before putting a cap full in.

That's weird, I have trouble finding White Out too. The last time I've been at a gas station, White Out was gone but the other two were there. Speaking of the other two, I wasn't impressed with Distortion. It's pretty much regular Dew only sweeter and greener. Typhoon is pretty good though.
Finally, I'm with you on the Pepsi Blue hate, but not because of the flavor. I liked the flavor fine but for some reason, Pepsi Blue gave me massive gas. Even after only drinking about half a 20oz, I kept burping like crazy.
Reply to this
Exactly. Typhoon is probably the best of the bunch this year. White Out tastes like watered down regular Dew but with a weird aftertaste. Distortion is just Mountain Dew. Or watered down Surge. Typhoon is probably the best because it is so different.
Wait, was Revolution was the blue one right? Yeah I really liked that flavor. I also kind of liked the Game Fuel flavors. The Halo and World of Warcraft ones were pretty good, at least I think they were. I also miss Pitch Black and how sour yet good it was.
Pepsi Blue just made me sick. I remember my mom bought a pack and I only had one can. The funny thing is that we never threw it away until maybe 2 years ago.
Oh and one last thing. Brad, Vanilla Coke is still around. That's the only Coke flavor that doesn't make me sick.

I like softdrinks a lot too. Actually recently I have been on a mini quest to try all types of carbonated water since I found out seltzer water and club soda weren't the same thing. All that's left is mineral water. I liked surge a lot, I miss it especially the fact that it was green. But if you liked surge and haven't tried vault, try it. It's kind of like the spiritual successor to surge. I'm not a huge mountain dew fan. I've tried several mountain dew varieties. Out of the ones I've tried only code red did I think was decent. And even with that I'd still prefer regular. Actually one of my favorite short lived soda's was sprite remix, to be more specific the berryclear flavor. I thought that was one of the best tasting soda's I ever had. Some that I think are good and are available today would be that ruby sierra mist, again vault is good, Jones green apple soda has a kind of unique and tasty flavor. I've also kind of grown to like RC Cola. Over the years I've liked pepsi more, then I've liked coke more, back and fourth. What I like about RC is that it's about as sweet as coke, tastes more like pepsi and is less carbonated than either one for a pretty nice drink all together.

I'm surprised not everybody remembers Pepsi One, which is basically like regular Pepsi but with one calorie. I don't understand the comments on Distortion. It tastes exactly like what the bottle says, It's regular mountain dew with lime in it. The other two are disgusting. I really can't stand fake "fruit punch" flavor, especially in a soda. And the White Out just tastes like Fresca with some Mt. Dew in it. At least if the Distortion one fails to catch on in the mass market I can just make it myself at home.
Any of the canned "Vanilla" products are gross as well. Do yourselves a favor, go buy some vanilla flavoring syrup and just make your own vanilla coke. Coke tried to mass market something that was a diner specialty for decades and failed miserably (at least with this guy, people seem to love that garbage for some reason.)
Anyway, back to my RC.

This reminds me of Epcot. There's some Coke pavilion that has sodas from around the world. There's a delicious watermelon one (can't remember from what country though) and a bitter one from Italy, which is terrible.
also. you trying Mountain Dew reminds me of a Simpson joke.

You know...even though I lived through the advent of new Coke...I never tried it even once. (My household was a Pepsi household.) As for me, I used to drink all sorts of weird store-brand colas (favorite name was Bubba Cola from the Sav-A-Lot stores).
However, I gave up caffeinated sodas some time ago. Developed better sleeping habits that way, and it helped stabilize my mood swings a bit. (Being bipolar really sucks.) Nowadays I drink mostly water with the occasional caffeine-free cola.
Still, I absolutely love Pepsi Holiday Spice. Loved it even more than regular Pepsi.
I just wish more cola makers would make caffeine-free versions of their colas. It would give me more choices when I go out for the 12-pack every third week or so. (Had to give up Faygo and Big Shot--two other favorites of mine. And I can't buy a lot of store-brand for that reason; Chek Cola is the sole exception.)
By the way, loved how the kitty ducked his head back down when you took that first sip!

I was addicted to Josta. They must of spent all their money in product placement for that shitty Roland Emmerich Godzilla. In Atlanta they are selling Mountain Dew with Lime (not bad) and the Mountain Dew Throwback made with sugar. My latest bevarge addiction is New Belgium's La Follie Sour Brown. A limited release but worth seeking out and stashing several 750 ml bottles away. It's a combo of beer and sweet tarts! Terrapin Brewery out of Athens has one on the market called Captain Krunkles which has a box of Captain Crunch brewed into each keg.

Tried this a couple days ago. I'd say it really doesn't have much of any kind of a taste at all, just sugar water, but the burps after-taste is horrid, it's like you just drank a bottle of Karo syrup.
I'm a hard-core TaB fan, myself. I think the reason people don't like TaB is they often drink it lukewarm and/or expired. For the best TaB experience, it MUST be unexpired and ICE-COLD.
I also think RC Cola tastes better in the can than in the plastic bottle. Can someone explain that?

I tried all three flavors last weekend, and Brad's review is pretty spot-on. White Out tastes exactly like a flat Sprite soda, with the aftertaste of actual white-out.
Distortion tastes just like regular Mountain Dew, except with a small dash of Sierra Mist.
Typhoon was amazing. Sweet, fruity, and subtle. The best of the three.

Brad, I don't know how long you keep reading comments on your videos, but I have an affinity for rare and unusual soft drinks, too.
Check it out! You might still be able to find some unopened bottles on ebay. I have a few, but there's no way in hell you're getting mine

Nice, I like the idea! Also: you don't have to associate the taste or structure with something edible, use the first association that comes to mind.

The flavor they were going for is grapefruit. It tastes almost like the grapefruit soda thats out (I'm blanking on the name), but it's a little sweeter. I didn't notice an after taste, personally. I actually like it. It's definitely better than Typhoon and Distortion. Distortion is lime, and hardly different from the regular. Typhoon is a nasty tropical fruit mix.

I remember pepsi blue! I tried it and threw it out after the first sip. Reminded me of cough syrup...

Personally my parents always kept me away from Mountain Dew, and I have never tasted one. But out of the three choices, I like the Mountain Dew White out commercial the best XD

This is actually the winning flavor of the new Dews, so I wonder how you'd like the other available flavors that got the boot.

Try Muscle Milk if you can Brad. The chocolate kind. The chocolate tastes really rich BUT THERE'S A CATCH. There's a weird after taste of like metal that covers your whole tounge. Usually comes after an hour of drinking it. It's the must utterly rancid, putrid, after taste of all time. Which is weird, because the intial product tastes great! You gotta try it.

I love this drink. I like sprite it self allot too. To me it tastes like sprite with as much of the sting. Hard to explain but to me it didn't taste like flat sprite but also i had it in cans because that's the only way its sold in this town. To my brother it just taste like regular mountain dew to him. And also had no after taste. But I think the difference is with the can and bottle. I love barq's in can but its just okay in a bottle. I just know when i first got this drink i couldn't stop drinking it. I ended up drinking the whole 24 pack of it.

I absolutely loathe that White Out won. In general, it just is not a good soda. As far as Mountain Dew goes, it does NOT come remotely close to any of the Mountain Dews made to date. White Out does go well with chili though.

Hey Brad, have you ever tried mint sprite or whatever it was called. i'm not sure if it was only in Canada. BTW it was horrible in my opinion.

Soft Drinks that fail are an interest of mine as well. Stuff like Pepsi Blue Hawaii, Pepsi Cucumber Ice, Pepsi White, Pepsi Shisho Green. Also I am interested in old cereal like If I could get a single box of Nintendo Cereal, I would scream for a year straight.

OK, just tried White out today (last bottle in that winn-dixie). he's right, flat sprite, but i tasted no bad aftertaste, in my order, the only ones I've tried,
1. Code Red
2. Mountain Dew
3. White Out
4. Diet Mtn Dew (tastes like Mtn dew, but with a diet aftertaste)
BTW I JUST looked this up, white out is going to be a slurpee in 2011! That sounds cool (revisit?)

I recently found it in a Food Lion in my area. The taste was indescribable. It did taste citrus-like, but the drink also had this punch to it. Like it seemed to slug its way down my throat. It was a sipping drink to be sure.
Overall, I didn't like it. I liked Code Red more.
