I think it'd be awesome if the 24 movie consisted of Jack passed out on a couch somewhere sleeping it all off, then waking up and going to the store for eggs to poach for breakfast and punching the shit out of express-line cheaters. Reply to this

The hillbilly girl's criminal past subplot was just horrid, now that I think back on it, there was really no purpose for it other than to pad out the running time. And this season, I really felt that Chloe took way more control than she usually did, very badass. I will definitely be seeing the "24" movie. I guess for what it was, it was satisfying, but yeah, the first half of the season was pretty weak.
I agree that season 6 kind of went wrong somewhere. That was the only season I considered stop watching in the middle. But season 7 was actually a nice rebound.
And again I agree that they basically did the same plot for 8 seasons and it would've been nice to see them change it up a bit. I think that the first 3 seasons tried to do that (S1 - more personal, Jack's family gets kidnapped; S2 - first season about nuclear terrorism w/ sinister corporate backers; S3 - first half focused on drug lords and Jack's drug habit) but even then there were certainly some plot points they kept repeating (mole in CTU) that I wish they would drop in favor of something fresh and new.
So yeah, 24 was good but it could've been so much better than it was a lot of the time. Reply to this

I always liked the concept of 24 (how it all takes place in one day) but I never understood how its gone on so long. Since I dont know, this is an honest question, are each season just the next day? Or does a certain amount of time actually lapse between each season? Ah well, anyway, I like Jack Bauer's Character and the first season was a great watch but I just never got around to watching anymore of it. I rank the 24 seasons, from best to worst, as follows:
1. Season 1 This season is the one that feels the most cohesive to me, and also the most exciting and unique. It features the best uses of the split-screen technique, the most interesting sub-plots, and one of the most disturbing murder scenes in the entire series.
2. Season 5
No need to expound, really. This is the season that scored all the Emmys. Best overall story, best villains, best guest-stars (I think the entire cast of Robocop has been on this show), best action scenes, and one of the most shocking opening episodes of tv I've ever seen.
3. Season 3
Half the season takes place in a hotel where everyone is dying slowly and painfully. The federal government is issuing them suicide pills. Damn.
4. Season 4
The only exception to the odds-over-evens pattern. Some great acting in this one (William Devane and Shohreh Aghdashloo are particularly awesome) and some really killer set-pieces make up for an otherwise standard overall plot.
5. Season 7
This season was a good return to form after season 6. The constant shifts in narrative direction (from African dictator to American private security firm to all-powerful cabal of businessmen) and all-to-quick resolutions of potentially compelling plot devices (the siege on the White House, the James Bond supervillain compound complete with missile silos) made this a more over-the-top, ridiculous, but incredibly entertaining season.
6. Season 8
The send-off season that wasn't. Brad's right. Though this show was past its expiration date, it should have had a final season that was fully set up to be one. Though satisfying, it was a tale of two halves. I liked that it began with a small-scale assassination plot, much like the first season. 24 got too big. Everything's a national threat or a global threat. Of course, it became a global threat quickly, but it did so with the same rapid-fire excitement of season 7, and it sent Jack on a blood rage unlike anything we'd seen before. And it sent him off in style... until the movie. Bring it on!
7. Season 2
Such a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it immensely. I love that Jack decapitates a guy in the very first episode. I love that it sets off a nuke and crashes a plane and gets Kim's boyfriend's leg chopped off. But fuck the abusive psychotic dad trying to kill Kim, fuck the cougar trap, fuck Sherry Palmer, fuck Jack's heart problems, fuck the little brat Kim's trying to protect, fuck Kevin Dillon. Kim shouldn't have been in this season. But hell, Hawk The Slayer is in it, so it's not all bad. All kidding aside, it's not bad... just not as good as what it followed.
8. Season 6
Bad with a capital B. The first 6 episodes are decent, but once Dr. Bashir gets blown up, it's all downhill. It wastes James Cromwell, Powers Booth, Peter MacNicol, the melting dude from Robocop... And seriously, fuck Rick Schroeder. Fuck him!!! At least they blew up his eyes... Reply to this

Although that is not common knowledge and only revealed in defence journals and publications so I guess the writers can be forgive with a villain audiences can relate to.
