Road Trip to Chick-Fil-A, Part 1
I've had a craving for Chick-Fil-A for a couple months now. Unfortunately, there's not one in Springfield. So you know what that means. Road Trip! But it's going to prove to be a bigger pain in the ass than we anticipated.
And don't forget to check out Pierre Kirby's return below in American Commando 3!!

Anything for the taste of chicken! Also what's worse no Chick-Fil-A in town, or like my town with only one damn Chick-Fil-A in the middle of the city?

Boo-frickity-hoo, try not having a Chick-fil-a in your entire STATE and then tell me what agony feels like. I live in Alaska btw, so it isn't like I can just make the commute either.

Amen, brother. There's so many stores and restaurants we ain't got, I don't know what these guys are complaining about.

I went Chick-Fil-A hunting in my city and to my fury, it was not a big one. (it was a Chick-Fil-A express with a limited menu).
I fully expected a crap sandwich (like Wendy's) and I was really pissed when I found out it cost 2.95 a sandwich. Then I actually bought 1.
And I was SURPRISED. It wasn't a Chicken patty. It was actually a piece of cut chicken. I was like "HOLY CRAP!"

I've never even seen a Chick-Fil-A, I've seen AngryJoe mention them a couple times, but I've never seen one.

"Tarzan Boy" on the soundtrack! Very nice! Hope you get your Chic-Fil-A!

Next time you're near the ISU campus, look for a place called "The Movie Fan". they are a rental store with over 15000 titles, specializing in the obscure. When I was in College, that was my mecca. It was there I discovered "Hell comes to Frogtown", "Cannibal Holocaust" and "Flesh Gordon"

1. I'm jealous of the weather there, it looks beautiful.
2. Never go on a road trip WITH OUT A GPS.
Can't wait for part 2!

Personally, I respect any food serving business that closes up on Sunday.
Even if Sunday's one of those "perfect" days for a family outing.
But still.
Will the trip be well spent...? Cannot wait for the next exciting installment!

I guess I should be lucky to be a Virginian. I've got two Chick-fil-As within Driving distance of 10 minutes, one in a near by mall, and some 8 in 2 hour drive radius.

I can so relate to this! I'm pissed that we get Sonic commercials playing all the time, yet no Sonic. The closest Chick-Fil-A to us (that I know of) is in Connecticut. I haven't actually tried it yet, but the next time I drive an hour and a half to visit my friend, I'll eat it. For you and Angry Joe!
Reply to this
I've never had Chick-Fil-A myself, but a guy on a radio show I listen to (Terry Boers, WSCR 670AM) defines Chick-Fil-A as "suckfest on a bun".
Brad, feel free to assume that everyone watching is in Illinois; as one of them, I generally understood where you were at and where you were going
Reply to this
I could have told you it was only for State Farm employees, silly. Josie's husband works there.
Reply to this
"Suckfest on a bun?" Oh, dear me, no. That dude's just the exception that proves the rule. Chick-fil-a is poultry deliciousness on a bun. Throw on a diet lemonade and...
...dammit, now I'm hungry.
Our lack of fast food joints manifests itself in no Dairy Queen within 45 minutes of where I live despite, you guessed it, a metric ton of commericals.

There's no White Castle where you reside? That's funny, I thought White Castle was everywhere in Illinois.
I didn't even know that Jack in the Box existed further east of my home state. There is a Jack in the Box on almost every corner here in AZ. Plus an interesting fact if you didn't know but Hardees is called Carl's Jr in the western portion of the US.
I hope that your success in obtaining Chic-Fil-A was higher the second time around. If so, my I recommend the Chic-Fil-A sauce to accompany your meal for your next visit? It is liquid gold as what me and my friends call it.
Reply to this
Nah, went to college in Lincoln, IL (Literally circled by Springfield, Bloomington, Peoria, Decatur, and Champaigne-Urbana). No Whitecastle anywhere near there. I think they are more in Chicago.
Oh, and Brad, you make me lonely for the flat, flat plains of central Illinois with your road trip. (This should say something since I'm living in eastern Nebraska)

You realize your reenacting Harold and Kumar. Right down to the place being gone when you get there. All you need is animal semen in the secret sauce

I live in Colona, IL and we have several Chick-Fil-A restaurants in the area. We personally don't care if they are closed on sunday because the owner of the chain is a christian businessman. If you some how make it up here, which is almost 2 hours away from you, e-mail me at sirdane1898@gmail.com and I will take you straight to a chick-fil-a, seriously!
Reply to this
Fortunately, Chick-Fil-A has a location that is only ten minutes away from where I live. The sad reality is that they usually are only found in or around malls OR on or near college campuses. Damn tasty food, though!

Yes! I will forever equate this song with the third Ninja Turtles movie.
In my part of San Diego we always get Sonic commercials even though there isn't one nearby at all. They just like to mock us with their delicious looking milk shakes

There's one in Santee on Mission Gorge Road....if you live in North San Diego you'll have to take the 805 South to 8 East to get to it, but we do have a Sonic in SD county.

In Clarksville we had Chik-Fil-A, Jack-in-the-Box, and Wafflehouses as far as the eye can see. And many other disgusting fast food places. You would've tolerated that pit!

Yay! The quest for Chick-Fil-A!
Reply to this
I know the problem with the advertisement. As a foreigner who often browses American websites, i constantly get bombed with advertisement for stuff that i couldn't buy if i wanted to.
That "Cinnamon Cluster" they serve for breakfast at Chick-Fil-A looks evil.
I just looked, it says "limited hours and/or accessibility - please call first" on 6 out of 8 locations in Illinois. They really seem to have a weird franchise policy that makes it seem strange that they would revoke a license because someone wouldn't open on Sundays. Rather a restaurant that is closed on Sundays but generally open to the public than one that is open every day but can't be visited, i'd say.
Reply to this
We have several Chick-Fil-A's in my area, a couple of them being in malls. The closest Jack In A Box maybe an hour away. I have no idea on Hardees because I really don't give a shit. Chick-Fil-A Rocks (except on Sundays)!

Why aren't you wearing a seatbelt for most of the video? With all the crazies on the roads, it would be stupid not to.

This is ridiculous. And awesome.
Be careful with that shaky cam. You might find yourself in the middle of a bad horror movie.. and not just any bad horror movie, but a horror movie knocking off Harold and Kumar. That's some sort of crazy thing that I've never seen but I think it would fall under some sort of -sploitation category or another. Then you'd have to Snob your own inadvertently-made movie.

Dude, I know the feeling. There are some places that I wish my town would have, like Chick-fil-a, Wendy's, Arby's, Red Robin, The Olive Garden, Church's Chicken, Taco Cabana, and Baskin' Robin's. Right now we have 2 McDonalds, 2 Subways, a Quiznos, A Dairy Queen, A Whataburger, A Sonic, A Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell in the same building, Popeyes, and we just now have a Burger King. We used to have a Chili's for a couple of years until they closed down. Two places I wish we can get rid of are Taco Bell and Popeyes because Taco Bell is the anti-christ of the Mexican Food inudustry and Popeyes's chicken just plain sucks at least to me.

Its a smaller fast food chain in America.
Their Ads are basically cow protestors trying to get people to stop eating cows. Its very funny. They even have bill boards with fake cows on the side of the sign looking like their illegally painting over the billboard with their propaganda to get people to eat more chicken. Its very funny...
oh and the food is good too. Best chicken you can get fast food in my opinoin.

That's the thing about the Midwest, if you don't live in a major city, everything cool is about an hour away. I'm glad I moved to Toledo where we actually have stuff like IHOP, Waffle House (though I'll never go there), Del Taco (which I think is the only one in Ohio) and more. I don't think we have a White Castle, if we do it's in the ghetto. Otherwise, I'd have to go to Detroit. We get Sonic commercials all the time but I think the closest Sonic is like a half-hour away. No Jack In The Box.
But yeah, I think there's still a Chick-Fil-A in the mall. I don't know I haven't been there in a while.

Someone once told me that shark tastes like chicken or it might have been squid. I wouldn't know.
But I have seen Sharks Treasure and believe it would be perfect for The Snob as there are few sharks in it aside from a very fake fin, a lot of footage of Cornell Wild doing sit ups and a strange bit where pirates force a man to parade around in a Bikini. And it is a 1970s action adventure film trying to capitalise on Jaws.
It may even feature chicken sandwiches.

No wonder why Chick-Fil-A fails lol. They like to make it an adventure just get get some damn chicken. Theres like two or three in our town. But its like a fast food town. You cant find a good restaurant but you can pick from five mcdonalds. It isnt that big of a town ether its kinda sad. No wonder why every one here is fat

Snob- That was awesome! I loved just hanging out with you and your compandres while on your holy mission to find fried-up fast-food munchies. My sister's daughter's just LOVE the Chick-Fil-A. But here in Dayton we have it just down the street. I don't think we have Jack-in-the-Box however. However we do see their commericals and that guy with the toy clown head freaks me out to the max. I don't think that I'd every have the guts to go in one for fear that the Evil Killer Clown Man would run out of the kitchen and murder me.
I think you should do more road trips that include us coming along. That was fun. I think it was better that you got lost. You should have just rushed the security at State Farm and got arrested. I think a vlog from inside the Bloomington PD jail would be awesome. Ha!

Great stuff! As a Canadian, there is no such thing as Chick -Fil-A here, so no ability to try.
However, I do have to admit that I have to respect any chain that is willing to overtly alienate a portion of its customers with a no Sunday policy. I mean, to stick to ones guns in light of all the possible chase it could be earning? Guts man, guts.

Well I am from the Netherlands and I must say it's a bit of a cultureshock to see someone driving 45mins to a fastfood restaurant
There seems to be an awful lot of choice in the US compared to here. We only have the pizza places, kebab, the local chippy, mcdonalds and burger king.

i've totally done the "45 minute drive for a specific fast food" journey before, but it was White Castle for us, and we did it at 4 or so in the morning (we weren't high, it was after a long D&D session). despite the fact that i only tagged along to see how disastrous it would end up, it went perfectly as planned, which is a huge waste of a stupid idea in my book. i am, thus, personally invested in the outcome of this adventure.

They got white castle and sonic up there too so you could hit each place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and then go into a cardiac.
Hey while your at it you could go see the critic too!

Lol, you assume that I live in Illinois. I live in Southern California, so it would seem as if I have no clue about what you are talking about...
but I do.
One of my family's all time favorite restaurants was "Taco Time". We lived in Washington (state) for a good amount of our lives, and Taco Time was always there. Then, when we moved down to SoCal, it was nowhere to be found. We had to travel quite a ways to get to a Taco Time, and when we finally got there, this version of Taco Time didn't even resemble the Taco Times that we went to. We've been to a lot, and they all look and feel the same, except the ONE in all of California.
Of course, Chick-Fil-A doesn't sound good to me. Maybe King's Pizza (The greatest pizza ever. Seriously, if you've ever wanted pizza that was so greasy that it immediately bled through the pizza onto the plate, and through the plate onto the table, then King's is right for you. Of course, if you don't live a couple blocks away, you'll never have the greasiest pizza ever made.)

I lived in that dorm (Woo Watterson Towers!) for two years, and yes it was awesome having a Chick-Fil-A in the food court, but sadly they took it out last year. So, even if you had actually made it into the food court, there wouldn't be a Chick-Fil-A anymore, they got rid of it about a year ago. I understand your cravings for it though, it's the best chicken ever. Ever. Also, it was very surreal seeing you walk around the campus of my college and dorm.
