I absolutely agree that White Out sucked. I also agree that Typhoon was, by far, the best of the three. I thought Distortion was okay, but didn't drink it as often as Typhoon.

You should maybe try to find the two losing Dew flavors from the first Dewmocracy, Revolution (wild berry fruit and ginseng) and Supernova (strawberry, melon and ginseng). Might even be worth it to try to find Game Fuel, since it was discontinued in 2007. I've also found the Pitch Black variety on Ebay. Your best (and cheapest) bet on that would be http://bit.ly/aJagxt. Loving the show, Brad. Keep it up!

White Out won? Weak. Though, I honestly thought that Distortion would win as, much like the last Dewmocracy, I figured the most generic one would win. Typhoon was the only one that didn't taste like slightly-altered regular Dew. Distortion tastes like Dew with a few extra scoops of sugar and I think they just changed the color for White Out. I wish Typhoon won. If we could get Typhoon and the other 2 flavors from the last Dewmocracy back, I'd be all over them.

BTW, I just got back from Wal-Mart and one of the coolers by the registers was filled with nothing but Distortion.

I had tried all three, and loathed Typhoon the most. White Out just tasted like sugar water to me. Distortion was by far my favorite. To me, it tasted like a Sonic Limeaid, which may be why Oklahoma was the only state that it actually won. heh.

I would have liked for it to win, but it seemed that all the early Distortion supporters started voting for the other two flavors once it started looking like a lost cause, which was relatively early. Even to the point that the store next to my apartment only received Typhoon and White Out for the bulk of the Democracy timetable. I have sadness, so much sadness.

As for the designed by's, those were only the labels. The flavors were sent out as part of 7-flavor (I think) test kits to Dew fans around the country, as well as cross-country via tour trucks, and their tallies, (over 200,000 total votes according to the site,) chose the three flavors that would be up for voting. Colors were voted on an event on ustream, and names via twitter voting via hashtags.

Personally, though, I think White Out won because it's ad had ninjas in it...

I feel like the show is in the wrong place...

somewhere near LA there's a soda shop that has all sorts of weird products, I think it's called "soda pop stop", but I'm not sure. Off of that website, if it is the right shop, here's some weird sounding drinks:

China Cola - Original and Cherry

Cricket Cola, "The Green Tea Cola"

"Eric's Famous Microbrewed Goji Berry Energy Cola"

Blenheim's HOT HOT Ginger Ale and Blenheim's Not As Hot Ginger Ale

"Jeff's Diet Chocolate Egg Cream Soda"

Frostie Blue Cream Soda - I actually had this one, it tastes exactly like Cream Soda, but the liquid is a clear blue. Really bizarre.

"Dry Soda", and it has some flavors:

Lavender, Lemon Grass, Rhubarb, Vanilla Bean. Appetizing.

Sweet Blossom Soda - Rose (I think I've had this one too, but it wasn't for me, it was my sister's.)

Apple-Beer (Not quite sure what that even means)

Bubble Up (No clue what it tastes like)

    Here's a long title:

"Cricket All Natural Mandarin Sparkling Beverage Enhanced with Green Tea"

"Green River" - This one is my favorite. I lived in Washington for a while, and my parents used to have this when they were young. I'm not sure if it is still made, but it's just funny that the soda even exists, considering that Green River was where one of the most notorious serial killers would dump his victims' bodies. It was pretty good, to me, just tasted like Ginger Ale, but it was interesting, and all I could think while drinking was "Made from the blood of dead prostitutes and teenage pregnancies".

Anyways, I think they ship, so if you want some of those sodas for "Brad Tries", then the website is www.sodapopstop.com

I suggest you check it out.

I DESPISE the tase of all things fruit-punch-flavored, and this includes Mountain Dew Typhoon. I'm glad it lost.

I don't know if they discontinued it, but there was an orange-flavored Mountaain Dew known as Livewire. I really liked that one.

As far as the internet can tell, the "designed by" credit was, in fact, for the flavors-- All of the logos were normal pre-stamp, but the flavors were designed by a large test group, then pared down to 7 and sent out in test kits around the country.

This is also proven out when you notice the labels are IDENTICAL to the normal ones.

But yeah, Typhoon and the other one were terrible, White-Out was actually pretty good-- I don't like fruit punch at all, and the 3rd one (Distortion?) had a really horrid aftertaste.
If it were a new soda contest, Typhoon would have pulled through, but since it was for Mountain Dew variants, the one that is in the same "profile" as normal Dew won.

I didn't try the other mountain dews seeing as how I never liked mountain dew much to begin with but I loved the white out. I use to drink white out quite a bit when it came out and liked it enough that I drunk it often although eventually I did get sick of it but if I had any sure I would drink it again.
