I absolutely agree that White Out sucked. I also agree that Typhoon was, by far, the best of the three. I thought Distortion was okay, but didn't drink it as often as Typhoon.
You should maybe try to find the two losing Dew flavors from the first Dewmocracy, Revolution (wild berry fruit and ginseng) and Supernova (strawberry, melon and ginseng). Might even be worth it to try to find Game Fuel, since it was discontinued in 2007. I've also found the Pitch Black variety on Ebay. Your best (and cheapest) bet on that would be http://bit.ly/aJagxt. Loving the show, Brad. Keep it up!
Reply to this
I wasn't a big fan of Typhoon. I preferred Distortion. Then again, I preferred the Supernova over the other two last year. And as for the Game Fuel, which kind? They had the Halo brand and they have the World of Warcraft brands.
Reply to this
Well, the Halo brand and the WoW Horde red brand are the same drink. The Alliance Blue is wild berry, and the other two are cherry citrus. Any of them would make good fodder for the show.

I can't understand the last 2/3rds of the video. it's like you're speaking another language O_O

Wait, white out won? Seriously?? WTF?! What people actually chose that as the winner?! xD Also, that is unsafe to hold a camera, talk and drive at the same time xD Love how you brought everyone in to try the Turkish cola, that way that could all share the joy or misery Luckily, it was joy xD

i despise Mountain Dew Typhoon... i drank an entire case of it, but i had to force myself through it. i found it unbearably sweet, which is something i doubt i've ever said about anything else. White Out is a lot better, and i actually love Distortion. i'm kinda bummed it's now discontinued.
Reply to this
Oddly enough, I liked White Out and thought Distortion was WAY too sweet for me, it kinda tasted like cleaning solution, I thought Typhoon was just okay, I think I will probably just continue drinking regular Mountain Dew instead. lol
Reply to this
I was... not entirely sober when I watched this (hooray for Holland), so I actually jumped at the end. So cruel.
Love you work!

God Damn it. I tried, White Out and Distortion but never got to try Typhoon. Now I'm pissed off because that actually sounds pretty delicious.

Great video Brad. Personally the distortion is my favorite but I guess I should have taken the Mayor Daily method of voting for softdrinks.
Also, it's good to see that M. Night has found more work.

Man,White Out won? I LOVED Typhoon.

why is it that every one says typhoon is better ifs fucking watered down code red
Reply to this
White Out won? Weak. Though, I honestly thought that Distortion would win as, much like the last Dewmocracy, I figured the most generic one would win. Typhoon was the only one that didn't taste like slightly-altered regular Dew. Distortion tastes like Dew with a few extra scoops of sugar and I think they just changed the color for White Out. I wish Typhoon won. If we could get Typhoon and the other 2 flavors from the last Dewmocracy back, I'd be all over them.
BTW, I just got back from Wal-Mart and one of the coolers by the registers was filled with nothing but Distortion.

Typhoon was easily the best. Whiteout was far and away the nasty one. Distortion felt like the placeholder, like someone at Pepsi said "We need a third. I'll be back at 2, think of something. I don't care."
Distortion's aftertaste was abysmal though. Ugh. Shame whiteout won, it tastes like medicine.

I wish distortion would have won, but now we are forever stuck with Mountain Dew Semen >

No, I am so glad that Whiteout won because I am addicted to Typhoon. If it became a regular flavor in the Mountain Dew lineup, my stomach would have dissolved completely by next year due to drinking too much of that liquid awesome.

Cola Turka atually doesn't taste a lot different from Coca Cola. Just a little bit sweeter.
I have been drinking a lot of it while cutting my last movie at the University because there is a small turkish store right around the corner from the cut rooms.
Reply to this
A two liter bottle of that stuff will keep you up for a few hours.
And it's really that hard to find? Like I said I just bought it in the middle of germany in a store, right next to the university.
Reply to this
Erm, I think the U.S.A. doesn't have as many turkish inhabitants as Germany does. At least in relation to the country's size. Thus we have -comparatively- a lot of turkish stores around here.
Plus, we're still a lot closer to Turkey than the U.S.A.

Distortion tasted like normal Mountain Dew to me, with maybe an ounce of Sierra Mist in it. I absolutly LOVED Typhoon, however.

There's another type of fruit punch flavored soda, if you really enjoyed that mtn dew typhoo. Dunno if you've heard about it, or can find it near where you live. It's called Tahitian Treat and I find it to be one of the more pleasant sodas I've come across. Very good fruit punch taste and not too sweet.

Can't believe WhiteOut won that shit.
I really liked both Typhoon and Distortion and from what I heard WhiteOut kind of sucked.
Reply to this
I had tried all three, and loathed Typhoon the most. White Out just tasted like sugar water to me. Distortion was by far my favorite. To me, it tasted like a Sonic Limeaid, which may be why Oklahoma was the only state that it actually won. heh.
I would have liked for it to win, but it seemed that all the early Distortion supporters started voting for the other two flavors once it started looking like a lost cause, which was relatively early. Even to the point that the store next to my apartment only received Typhoon and White Out for the bulk of the Democracy timetable. I have sadness, so much sadness.
As for the designed by's, those were only the labels. The flavors were sent out as part of 7-flavor (I think) test kits to Dew fans around the country, as well as cross-country via tour trucks, and their tallies, (over 200,000 total votes according to the site,) chose the three flavors that would be up for voting. Colors were voted on an event on ustream, and names via twitter voting via hashtags.
Personally, though, I think White Out won because it's ad had ninjas in it...

I feel like the show is in the wrong place...
somewhere near LA there's a soda shop that has all sorts of weird products, I think it's called "soda pop stop", but I'm not sure. Off of that website, if it is the right shop, here's some weird sounding drinks:
China Cola - Original and Cherry
Cricket Cola, "The Green Tea Cola"
"Eric's Famous Microbrewed Goji Berry Energy Cola"
Blenheim's HOT HOT Ginger Ale and Blenheim's Not As Hot Ginger Ale
"Jeff's Diet Chocolate Egg Cream Soda"
Frostie Blue Cream Soda - I actually had this one, it tastes exactly like Cream Soda, but the liquid is a clear blue. Really bizarre.
"Dry Soda", and it has some flavors:
Lavender, Lemon Grass, Rhubarb, Vanilla Bean. Appetizing.
Sweet Blossom Soda - Rose (I think I've had this one too, but it wasn't for me, it was my sister's.)
Apple-Beer (Not quite sure what that even means)
Bubble Up (No clue what it tastes like)
Here's a long title:
"Cricket All Natural Mandarin Sparkling Beverage Enhanced with Green Tea"
"Green River" - This one is my favorite. I lived in Washington for a while, and my parents used to have this when they were young. I'm not sure if it is still made, but it's just funny that the soda even exists, considering that Green River was where one of the most notorious serial killers would dump his victims' bodies. It was pretty good, to me, just tasted like Ginger Ale, but it was interesting, and all I could think while drinking was "Made from the blood of dead prostitutes and teenage pregnancies".
Anyways, I think they ship, so if you want some of those sodas for "Brad Tries", then the website is www.sodapopstop.com
I suggest you check it out.

Actually, the flavor they offer at Taco Bell is Baja Blast is a Tropical Punch-flavored Mountain Dew, and is one of my favorites.
I'm slightly bummed that white out won, as I was rooting for distortion. I really like the taste of lime, and it was the best-tasting to me.
I DESPISE the tase of all things fruit-punch-flavored, and this includes Mountain Dew Typhoon. I'm glad it lost.
I don't know if they discontinued it, but there was an orange-flavored Mountaain Dew known as Livewire. I really liked that one.
There was also a limited edition grape-flavored Mountain Dew that was known as Pitch Black. It was marketed for Halloween a few years back. I also enjoyed this one.

You should try more foods.

I really preferred Distortion out of the three new ones.
Baja Blast is great and should be bottled. Just keep the fountain version exclusive if need be.

I loved Typhoon. I work at a Wal-Mart and we sell a pack of 4 cans of each of the flavors for 1 buck. After I tasted Typhoon I bought myself 5 packs of it and since my friends trying it also I now have none. But since it lost I am going to have to pick up more now before it goes away for good

As far as the internet can tell, the "designed by" credit was, in fact, for the flavors-- All of the logos were normal pre-stamp, but the flavors were designed by a large test group, then pared down to 7 and sent out in test kits around the country.
This is also proven out when you notice the labels are IDENTICAL to the normal ones.
But yeah, Typhoon and the other one were terrible, White-Out was actually pretty good-- I don't like fruit punch at all, and the 3rd one (Distortion?) had a really horrid aftertaste.
If it were a new soda contest, Typhoon would have pulled through, but since it was for Mountain Dew variants, the one that is in the same "profile" as normal Dew won.
