Stoned Gremlin Productions Presents: GAME BOYS

Scott and Ray are two old school video game geeks who spend the majority of their days playing Nintendo and reminiscing about the 80's. But when Scott is dumped by his girlfriend, the two devise a plan to take Scott's mind off of the drama. With the help of their friend Steve, the boys seek out the rare Atari porno game "Custer's Revenge" in an attempt to hold a contest to see who can get past 5000 points, all while Scott desperately tries to woo the attention of Sally, the beautiful game store employee.

Filmed in 2008, "Game Boys" was my 4th full length film and my first attempt at a comedy. The quality of the film decreased slightly in the transition from tape to computer to flv, but regardless, enjoy my very own shitteo movie!

Making full length movie takes a lot of time and work, work that would take a guy like Brad in his better days like when he used to release 2 reviews a week. I mean, you got to love the thing, to make it trought the process. Besides Brad didn't edited it, so it was a long part of the process skipped. Good for him.

Criticizning the the movie, there are some overacting by Brad, I'm sure he noticed it later. But Brad is by far the most talented actor.

The guy, doing his friend, might be the second, but still he is not even close to Brad. No offence but like Brad said of Randy Couture on Expendables, "the guy kinda brings the movie a bit down", even when he is not talking, but just overreacting Brad's lines shaking the head or his hands.

I enjoyed the movie, I wish like I could see more of them, maybe Brad can work something out with Doug Walker, But I say Brad should direct, I would like to see how it would be. Of course Brad would have to put some Brake on Doug overacting.

That was great Brad! I had a lot of fun watching that, lots of decent jokes in there. A handful went over my head, but I can't complain with a few laughs. The jokes I did get were amusing, and I even laughed out loud once or twice which doesn't happen too often during movies actually.
This is probably the best acting for overall cast in a film of yours, very few jokes seemed forced. Good to see a lot of familiar faces, Jerrid had an awesome role. And although it was "shot on shitteo", at least I never saw the camera man (this time around).
Well done guy! Cheers for the free flick and looking forward to Midnight Heat. Also can't wait for that new film you said you were acting in.

I was so excited to finally get to see this! The writing is witty and interesting and has all sorts of obscure references that only true gamers (or in my case, the girlfriend of a gamer) would really understand. I think that everyone played their characters extremely well, but I must say that Bianca and Brad really stole the show. Jerrid, Jake and Alex as the sort of more prominent comic relief were exceptional. The soundtrack was awesome. I especially loved the fact that Nick's character beat Custer's Revenge with Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'' in the background.

I really like the fact that this movie, like the others also has a lot of references to the rest of your work as a whole. Like for example the mention of "I spit in you grave" and, of course, the "Caligula" memorabilia in the background of some shots.

Overall, a pretty good movie. It had its funny dialogue and odd characters, geeky references melded with cute and romantic exchanges (even if you can't really dance to save your life) and Brad only looked like he was going to murder someone in one short frame of the whole movie (although I'm sure that it wasn't intentional).

Good job on this, guys! I'm really looking forward to 'Midnight Heat' so I hope that comes soon!

This was so cute... I love the way that you put the scenes together. This is my first comment here, but I just had to tell you how much I enjoyed this movie... You really should think about going professional. You clearly have a lot of talent, and even though there were a few scenes where the acting could have been better, I felt like this film over all still had so much heart and good planning that it won me over big time.

This is the kind of creativity that it takes to make a good movie. I can't even imagine what you might be able to produce given a real budget to work with. Great stuff!

I think I can agree with the guy above me by saying that this could be the best movie I've seen all year, simply because I had NO IDEA that it would be this good and the surprise that I got from loving the film was something that no other movie this year has been able to give me.

Seriously, thanks for making my night with this one! Loved the ending.

The SP Series didn't finish till recently anyway but they both have a similair retro feel to them and snazzy soundtracks.

It's got flaws thought. Some of the lines sound like they are just read from the notes and some of the cuts seem a little off. Lots of the references went over my head as well.

I just loved that scene with Brad and the girl. It was almost heartwarming. I say almost because for the entire duration it felt like you were cheating on your wife. Couldn't help it.

Now for my criticism. I liked the humor, but tighter editing would make it a whole lot funnier. The romance parts also tend to drag.... and rob from the main storyline, which is about games, yeah? Not getting in the pants of Mrs. Snarky?

Overall It kept me watching, so it has potential. I think you should consider this release a 'Beta test' and send it back to the editing table so you can fix the comedic timing.

The was a great film I honestly enjoyed. It was a bit slow moving at two hours, but none of the time was really wasted.

All of the characters were pretty well fleshed out and had a nice warmth to them, and you managed to keep the story interesting with the occasional gag thrown in.

:otential Spoilers:: I really liked the build up to the end, and you didn't make Steve and Sally's getting together as simple as someone saying 'I like you' and sharing a kiss...also you (Brad) showed some real acting chops in the final scenes.

At the end of the film, I found myself wanting to get to know these characters better, and began wondering about where they'd be, two years later. You really did a great job with developing this world and the people who populate it.

I loved it. It was funny. I thought the characters where good. There was a tiny bit of over acting here and there but nothing to bring the movie down. It reminded me alot of Clerks and Mallrats a bit. and I think thats a good thing considering Clerks and Mallrats are 2 of my favorite movies of all time. My only big complaint about this movie is that it felt about 20 mintues too long.

I enjoyed the movie. I'm not huge into hollywood movies, because they never really have characters that I connect with anyway. Sure at points it was a little slow and a bit overacted, but when the movie ended, I wanted to see more of the character's adventures in video game fandom. As a girl gamer, obscure video game references plus a sweet romance (unlike hollywood romcom's that I feel are a bit insulting to women's intelligence) = a win to me.

Having thought about it for a while I have to say I really enjoyed this movie. Sure, it's lacking in the technical department and the editing could be a bit tighter at points but the writing is great and some of the acting is particularly awesome . Over all it's such a cute movie and I you really care for the characters and root for them . Thank you so much, Brad!

I'm not a person to be a good reference on movies. I ussualy set to watch a movie to enjoy it (for as long as it lasts at least). It did seem a bit long in parts. It over acted some times, I guess. I didn't get all the jokes, I guess I'm a couple years too young. But I enjoyed it. More than many movies I've seen. More than over half the stuff in cinemas these days. And definitely better than 99.9% of our "movie" production since 1953. (No I'm not from the USA- holywood was makeing good movies long after that.)

Funny, I started to write a Webcomic with a very similar premise (obviously with a lot of differences with the movie) before I realized that I wasn't that good to write comedy back then.

I actually sat through this entire feature, it was actually very well done for the way it was filmed. It seemed like it was written well enough to hold up for a couple hours, no matter how cliche, it seems to be much better than other "shot on shitteo" movies .

It has characters that aren't cardboard stand-ins and the plot is well defined. I especially liked how Ray was playing a couple of N64 games too that I always used to play (Mission Impossible and The World is Not Enough).

As far as the comedy, it did not seem to me that it was bland, in ways I think a lot of people wouldn't get those jokes but the fact that you had enough material to formulate references to old-school video games was really cool.

    Thumbs up to Brad!

I liked this movie. Its not the best one I've ever seen. But its good for what it is. The only why I could see it being improved if it had a budget of some sorts, but I have the feeling there are shoestrings more expensive than what it took to make this film. The best part of the film was the writing. The jokes where funny, the characters where over the top (but not in a bad way), and I thought the story was kind of sweet and charming.

I also was kinda drooling over Brad a bit in this movie ;p There were scenes where he (you? ::shrug: looked really pretty adorable. On the other hand .... well it was in the need of a serious editing job. I think some of the jokes fell flat cause of it, all the more the shame cause they had real potential. :\ That being said, I did stay up til 12:30 to watch the whole thing ;p And "THE KISS" scene was very epic. I think though thats to the movies credit as we dont really need to know, its just good to know the characters notice how bad it is too so we can speculate based on that fact.

Hey, I'm Brad's buddy Mike, and I played Richardson in this movie. Actually, I only saw the whole movie myself recently over at his house, but I'm glad to see it on Brad's site. I was at grad school at the time when Brad asked me to be in this film, the first time I'd been in one of his movies since high school, and I love the guy so I drove back to Springfield for the Custer's Revenge scene filming.

It was a fun experience. I show up, Brad hands me another copy of the script, a bottle of Mountain Dew, the Power Glove, and hat, and gave me some pointers. I asked what kind of character I was supposed to be, and basically it boiled down to "be a prick."

Not to pretend I'm an actor, but there were few choices made. I didn't shave so I'd look scruffy and let my goatee look a little scraggly and just told myself, "Okay, you're a mid-20s dipshit who would be screeching like a bitch on Xbox live every time he lost, you claim to be a god to women, but you probably haven't seen a real vagina since you were born. Drink your Dew and try to sound like an ass on every line."

Anyway, it was a fun movie to make, fun movie to watch, and I'm glad more people can watch it here. Sure, the acting is bad, and it's not high art, but it's funny and for all of us who grew up with an Atari 2600 and/or NES, it's a nice walk down memory lane. Thanks for letting me be a part of it, Brad! If you make a sequel, I will travel back to Illinois just to play Richardson again.

That was a wonderful movie. You guys did a great job. Had a whole lot of heart to it. I think everyone goes through that journey at some point or another and the climax especially was the best. This move feels like the absolute of Kevin Smith's work but for old school gamers. There's definitely a lot of you in here Brad; you speak street from the heart. And last but not least, it's got a kick ass soundtrack.

All in all a great movie. Keep up the good work.

It's also great to see Jerrid as a loan shark.

Awesome movie of course. along with Freakout and my personal favorite Cheap (I will never hear any of those songs the same way again lol).

I wonder bout hypercamming it, write some subs and burn it....would that be ok Brad? lol just for personal viewing pleasure of course.

WTB your work on dvd most definately.

I need the work of Brad Jones on my big screen.

So far I've only watched this and CHEAP as far as your features go and as much as I'm all about story and character can watch a shiteo film 10 times more intensly then a Blu-Ray and can forgive most any amature acting in an indie film there is one thing that drives me nuts about all your movies so far there verry long even if they don't feel like it somtimes if you could try aim for the 70-90 minute range. I think this was your shortest at 113 minutes? Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the hell out of this and Cheap. But if ya don't start watching these early in the evening by the end you could find yourself drooling all over the keyboard.

After seeing Paranoia last night and being a little underwealmed I was well chuffed by the quality of this. Browsing the comments above there isn't anything original I can add. Dick jokes give laughs we can all get but it's the obscure references I'm caught off guard by and actually LOL to. The romance stuff got a little schmultzy but it can't be too much of a sausage fest. Jokes were set up and then had a payoff like Jarred's character wanting to thrash someone and soda pop guy, traits were established like rob robot and not forgotten, surreal stuff like the blind gamer had explanations. Nice bookends with ET. You like your montages I see! I like the random characters like the NES repairman or Scott's mum too. Stayed up till 5 Am for this one

Finally got to watch this one and I really enjoyed it.

I especially like the dialoge. The whole inside jokes around games and such.

I laughed loud when Irvings Character was described. Now I know why he also goes by Virtual Boyd.
