Stoned Gremlin Productions Presents: GAME BOYS
Scott and Ray are two old school video game geeks who spend the majority of their days playing Nintendo and reminiscing about the 80's. But when Scott is dumped by his girlfriend, the two devise a plan to take Scott's mind off of the drama. With the help of their friend Steve, the boys seek out the rare Atari porno game "Custer's Revenge" in an attempt to hold a contest to see who can get past 5000 points, all while Scott desperately tries to woo the attention of Sally, the beautiful game store employee.
Filmed in 2008, "Game Boys" was my 4th full length film and my first attempt at a comedy. The quality of the film decreased slightly in the transition from tape to computer to flv, but regardless, enjoy my very own shitteo movie!

Sweet! I've been wanting to see this one for a while. Got nothing better to do tonight, so Game Boys it is! I'm so excited to watch this.
Can't wait for Midnight Heat!

Reminds me of when I tried making a film with my friends. I didn't get nearly as far as a finished product though. Respect knuckles for that.

Making full length movie takes a lot of time and work, work that would take a guy like Brad in his better days like when he used to release 2 reviews a week. I mean, you got to love the thing, to make it trought the process. Besides Brad didn't edited it, so it was a long part of the process skipped. Good for him.
Criticizning the the movie, there are some overacting by Brad, I'm sure he noticed it later. But Brad is by far the most talented actor.
The guy, doing his friend, might be the second, but still he is not even close to Brad. No offence but like Brad said of Randy Couture on Expendables, "the guy kinda brings the movie a bit down", even when he is not talking, but just overreacting Brad's lines shaking the head or his hands.
I enjoyed the movie, I wish like I could see more of them, maybe Brad can work something out with Doug Walker, But I say Brad should direct, I would like to see how it would be. Of course Brad would have to put some Brake on Doug overacting.

I've been waiting to see this again since it was pulled off of YouTube. This is your best movie!
Also, Midway Drive-In, Dixon, IL. Saturday. Bruce Campbell is introducing My Name is Bruce, followed by Charles Band and Full Moon Roadshow. Then comes all three of the Evil Dead movies. This is going to be epic!

That was great Brad! I had a lot of fun watching that, lots of decent jokes in there. A handful went over my head, but I can't complain with a few laughs. The jokes I did get were amusing, and I even laughed out loud once or twice which doesn't happen too often during movies actually.
This is probably the best acting for overall cast in a film of yours, very few jokes seemed forced. Good to see a lot of familiar faces, Jerrid had an awesome role. And although it was "shot on shitteo", at least I never saw the camera man (this time around).
Well done guy! Cheers for the free flick and looking forward to Midnight Heat. Also can't wait for that new film you said you were acting in.
Take care!

I was so excited to finally get to see this! The writing is witty and interesting and has all sorts of obscure references that only true gamers (or in my case, the girlfriend of a gamer) would really understand. I think that everyone played their characters extremely well, but I must say that Bianca and Brad really stole the show. Jerrid, Jake and Alex as the sort of more prominent comic relief were exceptional. The soundtrack was awesome. I especially loved the fact that Nick's character beat Custer's Revenge with Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'' in the background.
I really like the fact that this movie, like the others also has a lot of references to the rest of your work as a whole. Like for example the mention of "I spit in you grave" and, of course, the "Caligula" memorabilia in the background of some shots.
Overall, a pretty good movie. It had its funny dialogue and odd characters, geeky references melded with cute and romantic exchanges (even if you can't really dance to save your life) and Brad only looked like he was going to murder someone in one short frame of the whole movie (although I'm sure that it wasn't intentional).
Good job on this, guys! I'm really looking forward to 'Midnight Heat' so I hope that comes soon!

first time i see one of your feature films, i gotta go and see the other ones. You looks like 10 years younger semi-shaved and without your iconic jacket. Looks like this is the origin of the italian mobster that give the snob brazilian star wars appeared. The story is interesting, but i believe that almost 2 hours is too long. Doing a movie this long is alot of work, is very well done. I am gonna go and watch the other ones. Hope you can make more movies, you are very good actor too brad (i wish i had your seductive voice xD)

I've been a fan of your website ever since you joined TGWTG and I got to say that when I saw this up I had no idea what to expect. 2 Hours later I am left with complete awe at such a brilliant movie filmed in such a low budget way. You might think I'm exaggerating but this is the best film I've seen all year. P.S. all the chicks you had in the movie are gorgeous. Surprised you didn't cast Jillian as your leading lady though. Not to say the lead wasn't hot cause yeah, accents are hot. lol

This was so cute... I love the way that you put the scenes together. This is my first comment here, but I just had to tell you how much I enjoyed this movie... You really should think about going professional. You clearly have a lot of talent, and even though there were a few scenes where the acting could have been better, I felt like this film over all still had so much heart and good planning that it won me over big time.
This is the kind of creativity that it takes to make a good movie. I can't even imagine what you might be able to produce given a real budget to work with. Great stuff!
I think I can agree with the guy above me by saying that this could be the best movie I've seen all year, simply because I had NO IDEA that it would be this good and the surprise that I got from loving the film was something that no other movie this year has been able to give me.
Seriously, thanks for making my night with this one! Loved the ending.

You know what is missing with the profissional? Every amateur director's dream. A producer, if Brad has a producer, who can tell what piece he could bring to us.

Brad should grow a friendship with Ed Glasser from Team TGWG, He got a small studio, then Brad could promess him that if them produce and shoot his film "they will make their way in gold!" (tramps haha)
No serious, Brad, you should give it a try, who knows...

Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't Ed been in like a bunch of his videos. i thought he played the evil ninja in Kung Tai Ted? and I thought their showdown was at his studios?

I always feel like a dick for being critical. So I hope I don't come off like a dick. I'm 26 minutes in. There's some funny lines here and there. Two things hold it back; the timing is 'off' for nearly all the jokes. And the editing lacks finesse. It could have been so much tighter.
It isn't bad though, it's not on par with any of those fucking Parody movies (Date Movie, Epic Movie, etc).

Actually I don't really mind either way. I'm one of those rare individuals that thinks people are entitled to their opinions. I just thought that was a pretty funny coincidence. The SP Series didn't finish till recently anyway but they both have a similair retro feel to them and snazzy soundtracks.

Great movie with some surprisingly obscure references. I hope you make another attempt at a full length comedy, because this was damn good for a first time. Plus, being from Springfield, it was pretty cool knowing a majority of the locations.
It's kind of weird knowing that I used to work with the woman who played your mom, though...

I just finished watching this movie. At first I didn't plan on watching it completely, just sort of wanted to take a glimpse of it. But heck, it drew me in way better than many other hollywood produced films do and I ended up watching it completely.
It's got flaws thought. Some of the lines sound like they are just read from the notes and some of the cuts seem a little off. Lots of the references went over my head as well.
I just loved that scene with Brad and the girl. It was almost heartwarming. I say almost because for the entire duration it felt like you were cheating on your wife. Couldn't help it.
Anyway, I had a blast watching it. Good job.

Watched the whole thing. Obscure references? Check! Believably nerdy cast? Check! Tits, legs, and hoaky accents? Check! You truly have made your own shitteo movie, Brad.
Now for my criticism. I liked the humor, but tighter editing would make it a whole lot funnier. The romance parts also tend to drag.... and rob from the main storyline, which is about games, yeah? Not getting in the pants of Mrs. Snarky?
Overall It kept me watching, so it has potential. I think you should consider this release a 'Beta test' and send it back to the editing table so you can fix the comedic timing.
Oh, and Thanks for keeping me entertained for the past year lol.

"Waiting For A Star To Fall"? "Waiting For A [FUCKING] Star To Fall" ;D!? You included "Waiting For A Star To Fall" in your soundtrack ;D? That's beautiful, it really is ;D.
I'm sorry... I really shouldn't be ragging on ya for a thing like that but I didn't expect this movie to turn into a romantic comedy. Well, I guess the premise is kind of a romantic comedy, but the point is: As soon you start to play that song - no matter what's shown on the screen - everything gets all sappy and shit
I'm liking the movie, though. You really can act, Brad

I took that as deliberate, since the line before that scene was "make like you're in one of those cheesy 80s films you love so much."

It was funny, heart warming, entertaining, and I really liked the characters.
I dont want to make this to long but this seemed like it was influenced alot by Kevin Smith and even a bit of John Hughes.

Fantastic use of game footage, awesome music, and pretty good acting. Not everyone was great, but neither was everyone in Clerks.
Brad, you were phenomenal, absolutely fantastic. The premise was a damn good one as well. I liked the whole message of the movie, and it had some great bits.

The was a great film I honestly enjoyed. It was a bit slow moving at two hours, but none of the time was really wasted.
All of the characters were pretty well fleshed out and had a nice warmth to them, and you managed to keep the story interesting with the occasional gag thrown in.
:
At the end of the film, I found myself wanting to get to know these characters better, and began wondering about where they'd be, two years later. You really did a great job with developing this world and the people who populate it.

I enjoyed the movie. I'm not huge into hollywood movies, because they never really have characters that I connect with anyway. Sure at points it was a little slow and a bit overacted, but when the movie ended, I wanted to see more of the character's adventures in video game fandom. As a girl gamer, obscure video game references plus a sweet romance (unlike hollywood romcom's that I feel are a bit insulting to women's intelligence) = a win to me.

Having thought about it for a while I have to say I really enjoyed this movie. Sure, it's lacking in the technical department and the editing could be a bit tighter at points but the writing is great and some of the acting is particularly awesome

I'm not a person to be a good reference on movies. I ussualy set to watch a movie to enjoy it (for as long as it lasts at least). It did seem a bit long in parts. It over acted some times, I guess. I didn't get all the jokes, I guess I'm a couple years too young. But I enjoyed it. More than many movies I've seen. More than over half the stuff in cinemas these days. And definitely better than 99.9% of our "movie" production since 1953. (No I'm not from the USA- holywood was makeing good movies long after that.)

Funny, I started to write a Webcomic with a very similar premise (obviously with a lot of differences with the movie) before I realized that I wasn't that good to write comedy back then.

I actually sat through this entire feature, it was actually very well done for the way it was filmed. It seemed like it was written well enough to hold up for a couple hours, no matter how cliche, it seems to be much better than other "shot on shitteo" movies
It has characters that aren't cardboard stand-ins and the plot is well defined. I especially liked how Ray was playing a couple of N64 games too that I always used to play (Mission Impossible and The World is Not Enough).
As far as the comedy, it did not seem to me that it was bland, in ways I think a lot of people wouldn't get those jokes but the fact that you had enough material to formulate references to old-school video games was really cool.
Thumbs up to Brad!

I liked this movie. Its not the best one I've ever seen. But its good for what it is. The only why I could see it being improved if it had a budget of some sorts, but I have the feeling there are shoestrings more expensive than what it took to make this film. The best part of the film was the writing. The jokes where funny, the characters where over the top (but not in a bad way), and I thought the story was kind of sweet and charming.

I LOVED this movie Brad. The references were awesome to find, the jokes were great, and I liked how it was "shot on shitteo". I really have to say the writing was really good too, and I liked the plot. I also have to say that I saw the ending a mile away, but it was executed so well that I didn't even care. I'd love to see another video-game based movie, or just a plain comedy movie from you again. I'd so pay money to see this in a theater, but I'm glad it's free. Nicely done Brad, this movie appeals to me as a gamer and as a more "old school" teen on so many levels! Please make more!

Well, I got a few minutes into it and liked it, but that girl's accent is so horrendous it's really putting me off. It's a struggle to watch! No offense to her, she actually seems like a good actress, just the accent is an awful attempt at random English and keeps going back to American. Couldn't the character just have been American?
Reply to this
Kinda the point. The characters mention how her accent is probably fake.
Reply to this
Ya technically she was American. They mentioned a few times they were pretty sure the accent was fake. Actually if I wanted to get nit picky with the movie (which I like the movie so dont shoot me =P ) They never totally explained if she was really british or not. I think though thats to the movies credit as we dont really need to know, its just good to know the characters notice how bad it is too so we can speculate based on that fact.
Just my thoughts on that

This has just become one of my favorite movies!

I will be honest, I was expecting something pretty shitty, but what I saw was the complete oposite, congratulations, awesome movie.

Great job, Brad! Really inspiring to us aspiring filmmakers out there!

gotta admit, not a bad flick. some of the video game references were a little forced
but all in all the dialog reminded me of clerks, and i for one love clerks. good on ya sir good on ya.

Thank you for finally loading this back up. I thought I'd never see it again after YouTube took it down. By the way Brad, I played the hell out of the E.T. video game back in the day. I actually won it on a regular basis. I guess being a kid I had no idea how bad it was.

This was better than I thought it was going to be, and I thought it was going to be great. The film quality was a bit crappy from the transfers, yes, but it was still a damn entertaining movie. It was also weird seeing some familiar faces from other site videos, like Jerrid being a badass loan shark, that was priceless. I would get this on DVD if I really thought you could get away with that, who knows maybe if you find some musicians and get some royalty free tracks and covers in there it could be a possibility *Wink Wink*

Brad went to the Wiley Wiggins acting school with all that face touching.
It's a good movie, though. It really hits it's stride at the party.

THis was allot of fun, it's kinda like Clerks for gamers. I played my NES Top Loader while watching this to enhance the mood and had myself a blast! I can't wait to see Midnight Heat, hopefully you can upload that one soon!
BTW My favorite game is 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: the Manhattan Project'.

Holy crap how much did it take to make "The Last Airbender?" They should have just published your movie.

You know, I was really expecting a shitty movie; I merely hit play for the grins. Sure, it's "shot on shitteo," but it is an entertaining watch. Makes me think of a budget Scott Pilgrim movie, except the game references are much much older.
I also liked how you managed to tie in a "moral to the story" speech to fucking Custer's Revenge! Classy! Seriously though, the movie was kinda nice and I did laugh. Hell, the very premise is a gods damned chuckle.
I'm not gonna lie, this isn't gonna replace my fav movie of all time -BttF

This was entertaining as hell. I'm actually surprised at the quality of acting you got out of your friends! Jerrid's character was my favorite; he just seemed so out of place and over the top as a villain.

Not bad. I've paid money to see movies that weren't half as good as this in a theatre before.

Brad, please do publish this on some shitty bootleg style DVD for I will certainly pay money for it!

I accidentally hit the 'add comment' link when I went to pause it. I was immediately sad. Props for that.

Hey Brad this was an awesome movie, great writing, pretty decent acting, awesome humor, and interesting characters. My only problem was the film quality but I know why that's beyond your control. But I would love to see a commentary on this movie to find out the back story and other stuff you used to make this film.

The movie isn't bad, it just kinda loses luster for me after watching videos of yours and it just feels like watching you hang out with some buddies and recording it. I much preferred "Freak Out".
Not quite my thing so far but I'll give it a chance.

I though that this was pretty fun. It was a little boring at first, and the acting isn't quite there... but it was interesting and it got fairly funny. I liked seeing it.

Angry Video Game Nerd: The Motion Picture?
I really liked it, especially at the end. Brad can actually act! Could have used some better lighting, had a few line goofs, but pretty decent for what it is

Well that was a really good film. I have no complaints with it. I loved the references, I loved the characters and I loved the pacing. This should be out on DVD not all those rom-com films with two people that barely know how to act. Bravo good sir. Bravo.

100x better than Cheap. It was awesome. I think it's even better than Freak Out which I liked very much too. Can hardly wait until you upload Midnight Heat. I hope one day we can all find DVD prints of your films, and I wish you the best of luck with Paranoia.

Loving it so far Brad...but let me get this straight. Scott Pilgrim is pretentious and "hipster" (I still don't fully understand what the fuck that is) but this movie is somehow different?

That's true. I forgot my movie is also about a kung fu rocker who has to fight off 7 supernatural ex boyfriends of a block of wood.

i think this is brads best movie. aside from some clunky dialouge and a few slow points a solid effort. I would review this but I dont want to give the impression i care.

Hey, I'm Brad's buddy Mike, and I played Richardson in this movie. Actually, I only saw the whole movie myself recently over at his house, but I'm glad to see it on Brad's site. I was at grad school at the time when Brad asked me to be in this film, the first time I'd been in one of his movies since high school, and I love the guy so I drove back to Springfield for the Custer's Revenge scene filming.
It was a fun experience. I show up, Brad hands me another copy of the script, a bottle of Mountain Dew, the Power Glove, and hat, and gave me some pointers. I asked what kind of character I was supposed to be, and basically it boiled down to "be a prick."
Not to pretend I'm an actor, but there were few choices made. I didn't shave so I'd look scruffy and let my goatee look a little scraggly and just told myself, "Okay, you're a mid-20s dipshit who would be screeching like a bitch on Xbox live every time he lost, you claim to be a god to women, but you probably haven't seen a real vagina since you were born. Drink your Dew and try to sound like an ass on every line."
Anyway, it was a fun movie to make, fun movie to watch, and I'm glad more people can watch it here. Sure, the acting is bad, and it's not high art, but it's funny and for all of us who grew up with an Atari 2600 and/or NES, it's a nice walk down memory lane. Thanks for letting me be a part of it, Brad! If you make a sequel, I will travel back to Illinois just to play Richardson again.

Dude, you fucking rocked in this movie. What makes you so cool is that everyone knows a guy just like you, you're THAT guy. Well, actually I think I'm THAT guy, but that's just what my friends say. Just kidding. You do rule though.

This was maybe on of the best films i've seen all year, It was so cool to see such a high quality film on the internet that wasn't just about repeated and tired meme's. It was a really funny really well written story. The acting was good, could have been better but good.
It felt like clerks and fanboys wrapped into one (which is a very high complement ) all in all this was a very well spent hour and fifty-five thanks dude for one awesome flick

Just finished watching the movie and I like'd it, good work!
Although pretty long in some parts, it never was boring and the flowe of everything was very fluid. Sometimes my head spinned with all the different references, but I'd say I got good over 75 % of it as it seems.
Appealing characters and the "Buford" Part had me laughing very hard. Great sequence and pay off!
I'd even say that a dvd-version with extra subtitles and specials would be nice.
At the end I just can say that it we're nearly two hours of good entertainment and want to thank you for purchasing this film for free. The last twenty or so dollars are spent on dvds didn't turn out to be so entertaining!

That was a wonderful movie. You guys did a great job. Had a whole lot of heart to it. I think everyone goes through that journey at some point or another and the climax especially was the best. This move feels like the absolute of Kevin Smith's work but for old school gamers. There's definitely a lot of you in here Brad; you speak street from the heart. And last but not least, it's got a kick ass soundtrack.
All in all a great movie. Keep up the good work.
It's also great to see Jerrid as a loan shark.

Awesome movie of course. along with Freakout and my personal favorite Cheap (I will never hear any of those songs the same way again lol).
I wonder bout hypercamming it, write some subs and burn it....would that be ok Brad? lol just for personal viewing pleasure of course.
WTB your work on dvd most definately.
I need the work of Brad Jones on my big screen.

So far I've only watched this and CHEAP as far as your features go and as much as I'm all about story and character can watch a shiteo film 10 times more intensly then a Blu-Ray and can forgive most any amature acting in an indie film there is one thing that drives me nuts about all your movies so far there verry long even if they don't feel like it somtimes if you could try aim for the 70-90 minute range. I think this was your shortest at 113 minutes? Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the hell out of this and Cheap. But if ya don't start watching these early in the evening by the end you could find yourself drooling all over the keyboard.

After seeing Paranoia last night and being a little underwealmed I was well chuffed by the quality of this. Browsing the comments above there isn't anything original I can add. Dick jokes give laughs we can all get but it's the obscure references I'm caught off guard by and actually LOL to. The romance stuff got a little schmultzy but it can't be too much of a sausage fest. Jokes were set up and then had a payoff like Jarred's character wanting to thrash someone and soda pop guy, traits were established like rob robot and not forgotten, surreal stuff like the blind gamer had explanations. Nice bookends with ET. You like your montages I see! I like the random characters like the NES repairman or Scott's mum too. Stayed up till 5 Am for this one

Finally got to watch this one and I really enjoyed it.
I especially like the dialoge. The whole inside jokes around games and such.
I laughed loud when Irvings Character was described. Now I know why he also goes by Virtual Boyd.
