Funny mentioning Ray and John Carradine with "Honey Britches."

There's actually a worse instance of Carradine stock footage that was used long after he was dead. There's a 1995 film called "Jack-O," with Linnea Quigley. It's another killer scarecrow/pumpkinhead killer type flick, and it has cameos from Cameron Mitchell and John Carradine. The funny thing was that Carradine had been dead for 6 or 7 years when that film was made. And it wasn't just stock footage inserted into the film. The footage was interlaced with the film to make it look like Carradine was a ghost. It amazes me how much stock footage of that man has been put into other films. I have always said that if I were to make a horror film, I would find a way to work John Carradine stock footage into the plot.

I've always hoped you'd review this movie (and one day I hope you review For Y'ur Heights Only and the Impossible Kid) and this was another good Snob review.

Also, this was perfectly timed, as I just subjected a good 20 people to this movie last night at a Christmas party I hosted. Fun times for all!

I still haven't seen the fourth or fifth films; same rental place didn't have them, but they had the third one. I suppose I should one day buy the Lionsgate dvd set even though only the third has any form of connection to the first two; least it comes with it too.

    Nice review Brad.

It's been a long time since I've seen the the Silent Night, Deadly Night series. They were all really bad but part 3 really took stupidity to a new level. In that one Ricky has a weird transparent dome on his head and I'm pretty sure his brain was exposed kind of like the Robobrains in Fallout. But somehow a trucker actually gives him a ride and doesn't think it's weird. Then there was some psychic girl that is seeing through his eyes or something. I'm even shocked they made two more after that, the evil toy maker one wasn't any good and then 5 was a witch story and I don't even remember any Christmas theme let alone a killer Santa.

Eric Freeman is definitely the only reason to watch this sequel. I hope he does come out of retirement. I would love to hear his thoughts on the making of this film. And I agree about Part 3 - that movie was God-awful.

I feel the first "Silent Night, Deadly Night" would have been good for the Snob treatment too, because it is bad. Not as bad as Eric Freeman shrieking "GARBAGE DAY!!!", but pretty bad. I had to Netflix it to see and when I did, I thought, "Why were people so freaked out about this?" Hell, I was laughing my ass off at the film, namely from the roughly 600 shots of the killer screaming "NAUGHTY!" as he hacked up people.

Funniest scene: when Linnea Quigly is naked save for her panties and is making out with her boyfriend, there's a knock at the door. So she goes to answer it after putting her pants on...but without putting any shirt on and answering the door with her boobs on display for all the world to see. WHY THE HELL DID YOU BOTHER PUTTING PANTS ON IF YOU WERE GOING TO DO THAT?!!! Was it some misplaced form of modesty?! God help her if it was a Jehovah's Witness at the door.

Ah yes, the film series that cements the horror movie trope that if you're young and witness people having sex, you WILL become a mass murderer.

Yea, I remember the controversy too. Talk about giving a film way way WAY more press than it deserves. I almost suspect that the producers pulled a Malcolm McLaren and manufactured a good deal of the controversy for press they otherwise wouldn't get.

If you are like me you're getting sick of the usual Holliday crap on TV, the Kardacians are in half of them by now . I'm home and I'm looking through my collection and came up with 5 films that celibrate Christmas in the most warped way possible So here they are -----#5 "Die Hard" Just a fun bloody action film set on Christmas Eve, best watched uncut. Granted it has been way over played on TV but it's still a good flick (Die Hard 2 also plays nice at the Hollidays) So come out to the coast, we'll get together, We'll have a few laughs. ------#4 "Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker" I have not seen the first two entries, 3 sucks, but Brian Yuzna (Bride of the Reanimator, From Beyond) produced the last two entries as a more twisted anthology enties than slasher films. 5 deals with a Mother and Boy being terrorized by someone sending them weird boobytrapped toys. It's not great but the ending is kind of wild and it has Micky Rooney -----#3 "Silent Night,Deadly Night 4: Initiation". This is a Very weird film Directed by Brian Yuzna, and has a very loose connection to Christmas. A female reporter trying to break the glass ceiling at her paper investigates a woman's death, who spontaniously combusted from the waist down. She is soon drawn into a cult who worship the demon Lilith, lead by Maud Adams, and we see some of the Weirdest insect related makeup effects by Screaming Mad George and the hands down most Bizarre preformance by Clint Howard ------#2 "Mystery Science Thearter 3000- Santa Claus" A very weird Mexican film where Santa is stalked by the Devil on Christmas It's a silly film made all the more funny by Mike and the bots. It is on the MST3K Volume 16 collection-------#1 "Mystery Science Thearter 3000- Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" One of MST3Ks best shows, not only do Joel and the bots do a wonderful job with the film but their side are great as well, such as Crow's new Christmas Carol, "Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas" It is in a two disc set called "MST3K The Essentials" with "Manos The Hand of Fate"--- Those are my choices, any thoughts and Merry Christmas

My brothers and I fell in love with this cheese fest back in 95, and it was no surprise to us that the garbage day scene went viral once it hit youtube. The only thing missing from SNDN2 is the epic monologue from the first film delivered by the grandfather. I recognized Eric Freeman from an episode of In Living Color, where he was a cabana boy serving drinks to Damon Wayans in Men On Film from the first season of the show.

Yeah, part two definitely sucks. But I do love the music score, it's very haunting! If only the soundtrack was available for download..
BTW, you are off about the garbage day scene claiming it was shot in the summer. You can easily tell by the multi-colored trees surrounding Ricky that it was shot in the fall.
One last note, I like Mother Superior in the first one because she really added to the anti-Christmas aura of the film. She was just as terrifying as any homicidal Santa Claus would be.
One last last note, I did like part three because of Robert Culp and the fact it was kind of eerie.

So, for the past five days, I've been writing a review of Silent Hill 4: The Room. I know, it's a strange choice for a game to review, but it has a degree of personal significance.
Anyway, I was always creeped out by the antagonist, Walter Sullivan, when he attacks you in the latter half of the game. In your first encounter, he has a gun and a stick, and when he walks through a door and readies his gun to kill you, he raises it very slowly and ominously, holds his head back, and begins to fire on you. This always made me feel a tinge of fear, but this time through, I just looked at him and yelled "GARBAGE DAY!"
It's so perfect. The posture, the crazy eyes, the pistol, the killing.
I have since made "Garbage Day!" the title of the review.

I still haven't seen Part 3 in Silent Night, Deadly Night despite the fact that Ricky is played in that film by Bill Moseley and it features a young Laura Harring in the cast. I almost picked up the three-pack DVD collection at my local indie shop. But Freeman poses an interesting "What If" scenario. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2" was released before "Silent Night, Deadly Night 2." Can anybody imagine Moseley cast as Ricky instead of Freeman, especially given just how entertainingly insane he was as Chop-Top? I'm not devaluing the camp appeal of Freeman, which is why I still smile at mere mention of the movie having seen the film authentically on VHS before the internet meme infamy. But Moseley has had the luck of being a certified genre icon. Based on what I heard about Part 3, in which he's relatively mute, I replay Part 2 in my head with Moseley instead, and it's interesting, kind of like seeing Joe Spinell as Machine Gun Joe Viterbo in "Death Race 2000" instead of Sly Stallone. After all, the two were great friends and reportedly auditioned for the same roles together.
