If I didn't know any better, I would've certainly thought you were under torture with the "It's so chewy! It's so chewy and it won't dissolve!!". And the kitty going after the squid at the end was priceless. I mean, they DO like fish, raw or otherwise, so I guess you can give it to them.

I've had bulgogi before at a Korean restaurant. It's just beef and vegetables grilled together. Not too bad actually.

I've had squid before at a restaurant. Gotta say, the chewiness is what killed me, not the flavor. But on the same note, I can't imagine it doing well in cracker/chip/snack form. Sitting there, watching Family Guy popping Squid puffs. Blech. Loved the one reaction. "Gawd, It's a few feet away and I can still smell it from here!" The expression was too much. I almost wanna screen shot it and wallpaper it. =P
But seriously. Calamari... Good as a kitty treat if unsalted, wouldn't let 'em have the whole thing though. Good vid. =)

As an Asian, squid tastes normal to me. Texturally or whatever. The dried squid was actually something I ate as a child and it was fine lol.
I personally can't stand Durian but my parents and grandparents love it. They say it tastes sweet. To me, it smells like a river in Bangkok... but yes, the squid nuts are absolutely disgusting. Squid is just kind too odd for a lot of Americans.

The look on your face when you opened the Squid Nuts looked like you were punched in the face. I like how you gave Jillian the tame stuff and tortured Jerrid, Brian and Sarah with the stuff you couldn't stand.

Both have to be properly cooked and both really need to be used in certain recipes. Otherwise they will taste awful and be like rubber.
A lot of rarely eaten stuff like offal and squid as well as octupus have to be really done right. When prepared right according to a recipe all of those things can taste incredible. Most Americans don't know how to prepare them.

I've eaten dried shredded squid several times, and it's usually been somewhat sweet and vaguely spicy, albeit chewy. Perhaps the taste differs depending on the brand.

A cafe around here sells Kopi Luwak for $40 a cup. Better to just go for the grass jelly drink. Much cheaper, although it only TASTES like crap!
For upcoming food episodes: balut, century eggs and natto (look 'em up). I also saw dried whole shrimp at a local market the other day, that could be fun! (Well, maybe not to Brad, but certainly for us viewers!)

I'm Korean and it's hilarious to see Brad try these snacks that I basically grew up with. A lot of Koreans love dried squid, especially older people. A lot of times they dip it in mayonnaise (!) and eat it as a snack with beer. However, they do give off a strong smell and those who aren't used to it obviously find it terrible. Um... I'm Korean too, and I've lived in Korea for over 19 years. I just wanted to point out that... although dipping dried squid in mayonnaise is somewhat popular, there are still a lot of Korean people who think that's dusgusting. Myself included. No offense.
Personally, I'd like to see Brad trying one of those Butter-Fried-Squid snacks, which some of my Non-Asain friends actually really liked.

Hi there, this is the second Korean who grew up with those snacks Brad just tried, alongside with 'marco' up there, and I can't even descrive how amusing to see Brad being grossed out by them.
And I love the ending too- my cat, by the way, loves that bulgogi flavored dried squid, the same kind, I mean, so I'm pretty sure the kitty in the video loved it too. Happy ending.
