Of course Lucas made this in secret. Look at those prototype Howard the Duck robots.

Also, "He saw you because you were talking" made me laugh very much. That is appreciated. Single lines explaining dumb character actions are the best.

I love this movie. Its so bad, and there's so much nonsensical garbage going on in it.

I nearly bust a guy when my brother pointed out the tin can fidgeting in the background while everyone else was talking.

Hollywood is the most ridiculous actor there except for the robot fighting guy; who seems to literally jump in and out of every single scene instead of exiting it normally as he did in the end of this video. (For real)

Brad mentioned how you weren't sure about the plot, which is funny because I wasn't sure whether we'd had different copies since the plot I saw wasn't the same as the one The Snob described.

With the exception of those awful, awful robots, this movie is really entertaining crap. I really liked the ending where (spoiler, I guess) the two antiheroes blackmailed Waffle face into selling Earth to his even less dangerous rival, (Vein face) so they could get a cut. It was funny.

wow, Snob, how did the Futurama reference get past you?

In the pilot, Bender the robot tries to kill himself in a "suicide booth". Although the Robocop 2 reference was good, especially since I just listened to that podcast of "Radiodrome" where you talked about the Robocop Franchise.

Still, this was one campy movie...

I am no expert on Brad Jones but I think he is a man who genuinely loves the eighties. As such, if it comes down to a reference from a modern entertainment franchise and a reference from a franchise begun in the eighties, he is gonna go for the latter (whether to stay in character or because he really does love the eighties as much as his characters seem to in real life, I couldn't tell you for sure).

I know that was a knock at Jar Jar. But C-3PO said it first in Empire Strikes Back. When the silver droid like himself on Cloud City says "E Chu ta."

Also, not sure why you're knocking Cameron for "Unobtanium", in regard to the material in this film. "Unobtanium" at least is a real term.

Yay! Star Odyssey! I LOVE this movie. Films this transcendentally bad only come along once in a while. I knew this one was special when my friend and I were watching it and we got to the bit with the oil drum robot. We had to stop the film because we were both laughing so hard!

Part of me wonders if the plot was so confusing because the reels were assembled out of order for the DVD release. And somehow, you managed to leave out Goofy Acrobatics Guy and the fact that Malisa Longo of Elsa Fraulein SS was in this (you see her at the Earth auction at the end). The "androids" look like clones of Kathleen Turner's China Blue character from Crimes of Passion.

A dollar store gem. Really deserves a cult following FAR more than The Fucking Room.

Some friends and I watched and mocked "Star Odyssey" a few years ago. We had great fun with those androids, whom to called, "Hamlet Bots." Despite having seen it, I barely remembered anything besides those robots. I wonder if we might have seen a different cut or even a different film. There are several films that seem to use the same sets, props and costumes, including the Hamlet-Bot ones. The only one that I can remember off hands is "War of the Robots", which has a man in a loincloth.

Just what details I remember about certain things worries me.

Hey Brad, as for italian Star-Wars-like rip-offs like “Space Odyssey” (1979), I highly recommend you to see some other Alfonso Brescio`s (aka Al Bradley) movies, as he did A LOT of them:

=> “La guerra dei robot” aka “Reactor” aka “Robots” aka “Stratostars” aka “War of the robots” (1978): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077640/

=> “Anno zero – Guerra nello spazio” aka “Cosmo 2000 - L'invasione degli extro-corpi” aka “Cosmo 2000 - Planet Without a Name” aka “Cosmos: War of the Planets” aka “Cosmo 2000 - Battaglie negli spazi stellari” (1977): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0149677/

=> “Battaglie negli spazi Stellari” (yes, it`s a different movie) aka “Battle of the Stars” aka “War in Space” (1977): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075881/

…and, of course, an unforgettable STARCRASH by Luigi Cozzi…!!!

=> „Starcrash” aka “Scontri stellari oltre la terza dimensione” aka „Female space invaders” aka “The Adventures of Stella Star” (Luigi Cozzi, 1978): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079946/

This actually looks more enjoyable than War of The Robots which was made by the same production team. I only know this because they recycled the sets, space force uniforms and robots in blonde wigs.

War of The Robots is like Space Oddyssey, but somehow more tedious. War of The Robots could have used a pair of comic relief duckbots to liven things up. I blogged a decent sized review of it in the above link.
