Grizzly II: The Predator
Uh oh! Wondering where The Cinema Snob episode on "Grizzly II: The Predator" is? Perhaps this email should explain it.
Dear Brad Jones,
In reference to March 11 Cinema Snob Forum. Grizzly II.
We just saw the so called Grizzly II footages at your website. I am stunned and furious about this unauthorized and vicious approach to a movie which is characterized by you as an "extremely bad and messy" film which was not worth finishing. I have made a copy of your video and sending it to my attorney.
I'd like to inform you that I am the sole owner and control party in the Grizzly II movie and without my authorization the movie can not be shown in any media or other related sources. I immediately request you to remove this horrible review and please contact me at my email address.
Suzanne C. Nagy
Producer of Grizzly II
I don't know, she seems nice enough... So after some phone calls and legal advice, it was best to take the video down.

Wow! This movie does have everyone in it. One of the hunters was the asshole cop from First Blood. You know, the only guy who died in a movie that's been deemed pretty violent. Also, with all the other talent in this movie, this should have been awesome, but I guess things don't always go the way you planned.

Random thoughts while watching:
A good '80s George Clooney movie: Return of the Killer Tomatoes.
That first rehearsal footage reminds me of the Sizzler Sisters' act from KITH.
That box wasn't empty, Brad, you dirty, dirty liar!
Whoo-Hoo! Big Country AND Tinkbuk3? You spoil us, Brad!
Was Old Snob looking at a copy of Evil Ed?
Nice Job!

You can probably take the entire film, add footage of actual bears, add footage of blood dripping on the walls, add more music, and you got yourself a completed film!

As a guy who loves the animal on the loose films, even the cheap and stupid ones (Tenticles), even I have to as why the fuck did Grizzly earn an attempt at a sequel? Seriously, it's a giant grizzly on the loose, it shouldn't have been that boreing.

Awesome review! I've heard and read many articles on this movie and was always curious about it and now I know it's best quality is it's music... Speaking of thank you for getting Beat It and Billy Jean stuck in my head for the rest of the week!
I say you or your enlarging group of friends should finish this movie with stock footage and that Bigfoot costume ya'll got!It would rock! Wait is this unfinished turd in the public domain... can a copyright be on an unfinished unreleased film!?
Speaking of unfinished films you should really do a review of the Coremen Fantastic Four movie they did in the early 90s! That video would be great!!!
Well. I'm out of crap to say until later!!

Yea, studios do retain ownership and control over workprints and such. That's why someone actually went to prison for leaking the "Hulk" workprint a few years back (of all the things to go to the slammer for...) But that being said, with this movie's history, I could see it being unsure who still owns it at this point, and they'd have to still want to defend the copyright.
So, yea. I too think it'd be pretty cool if Brad & co. tried to finish it.
Reply to this
Yeah, but Hulk was still a mainstream studeo release with a budget and a company behind it this thing looks like it's be in the same vain as like most of the other old movies the snob reviews... The owners are so embarrassed to show their names on the thing so they never claimed a copyright on it and the company that backed it's making has long since either been boughtout or went bankrupt and the CEO has either eaten a bulet or in this cases took ever red cent the company had and hightailed it to South America.
The only People I know that might(or most defenutly) tried to show thier asses and try to claim copyright infringment would be the 3-4(does Gihmli even count? He's been in more Sci-Fi... I mean SyFy movies that anyone else I thin!?) actual big named A-list actors that were invalved! But, I dought Charlie Sheen even remembers filming this!
But, still the Snob & Friends could finnish it and show it under the banner of parody! And with footage from some other non-copyrighted shows like those crappy bigfoot movies that've been on here they could fill in the missing gore!

And this is why your show rocks, Brad. You have struck gold here, man. This is a brilliant find! One of the most famous (notorious?) lost movies out there. It's a crime against camp, they didn't manage to finish this. It would have become a pure cult classic by now. It reaks of "so bad it's good"ness (just that last "bear stuck in the stage" shot alone is awesome").
That 80's stock soundtrack would've been an excellent retro find as well!
The only way you could top this rarity would be to see Lewis' The Clown Who Cried or something...
Great job. Thank you for this trash treat.

If anyone is interested to hear what "so bad it's cool" song the main singer/headliner is performing at the end:

Love the beat and the sax near the end is great!

This is not the "coconut milk" song. Brad could put up that beautiful idiocy, maybe?

Great review, Snob! You know, I think I might've caught a glimpse of 80's Dan in the audience of that concert...
On a side note, I've spent the last few months watching all of Brad's videos from the beginning...and upon watching this one I have finally caught up to the present! It's been a wonderful ride - completely worth the mild psychological damage. Now while waiting for the next update I'll just hire a kind-hearted hooker and make her wear an ET mask while force-feeding her crickets, then bludgeon her to death with an empty Crystal Pepsi bottle. It's the only way I can feel anything anymore.

Dammit, Grizzly 2 should have followed the original concept of the first film and been and been an exact carbon copy of Jaws 2, except on land with a bear and with gore.
And I remember the days when The Prophecy was a proper movie about a big deformed bear, not a bunch angels.
The olden times. Grizzlies. Deformed Bears. Tentacles. Proper movies with monsters and slow zombies. Slasher films with good soundtracks. Dubbed horror. Night scenes filmed at night. Turn back turn back.......

To Brad:
Why shoot it in Hungary? Simple; it was dirt cheap and the Communist government would bend over backwards if a Western film crew showed up*. This was why they shot that cheezeball comedy "Transylvania 6-5000" in Yugoslavia. For the government to hold equipment due to nonpayment meant these guys really screwed up. Check out the "Grizzly II" page on Wikipedia; they have a link to an interview between an ex-employee of Film Ventures International and "Greywizard", the owner of "The Unknown Movies" site. Pretty much this film and a couple others were made 5 minutes before Ed Montoro, head of FVI, embezzled millions from the company and vanished (allegedly to Mexico.) It could've been just another slasher, but leaving it unfinished gives it that aura of something more interesting than it actually is.

* This only applied to Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and Hungary, and only for certain sorts of films; everybody else in the Warsaw Pact was too paranoid.

great video though!
You just didn't realize that the bear was full of Adonis DNA after biting Charlie Sheen, not just Tiger's Blood, The whole cast and crew was slaughtered by the bear, then the bear faked its death, thats why end footage is so bad!

The male dancer at 4:18 in the striped shorts? I'm almost positive that's Bruno Tonioli from Dancing with the Stars. He was a freelance dancer at the time, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was him. (For example, he was in an Elton John video.)

Toto Coelo were a one-hit wonder British band in the 80's. Their Song "I Eat Cannibals" made #8 on Britain's charts (and #4 in Australia's) in '82. You will either be upset or unsurprised to learn that "Milk from the Coconut" reached #4 in South Africa in '83.
They broke up in '85, only ever recording 6 songs. The first three are decent. The last three... well, you heard XD
And now you know way more about this obscure 80's group than you probably ever cared too ;P

I thought you guys in the US were protected by the 1st ammendment when it came to satire and fair use. Personally I saw this movie too and it was most definetly 'an "extremely bad and messy" film'.
She should be glad that at least some people are getting joy from her trainwreck.
Reply to this
First amendment does not protect people from using footage that was never legally released to begin with. Quite frankly, I'm surprised this sort of thing doesn't happen more often.
I mean, I like Brad's reviews at all, but the law is not on his side here.
Reply to this
Actually it does protect them so long as they are doing it for the correct reasons. The issue is that they can still take you to court to make you prove legally that your use of the footage is covered by Fair Use. In general this is a bad situation for the reviewer/humorist as they are generally the "little guy" in the situation and even if they win the case it will generally cost more than it's worth to fight it.
The law is on Brad's side, but that doesn't mean that it's worth it to him to fight.
Reply to this
You really have made it as a reviewer now, you've had someone take down one of your videos.
That is too bad, I get that it is the law but 1. Make a good film and people won't bash it and 2. You know how many people went and watched the room because of the NC and Obscura Lupa's reviews. I know I bought a copy, same goes for Dolemite, Birdemic, Troll 2 etc.
These reviewers helped get me into Zgrade films so these companies are making money off of these free reviews.
Anyways too bad this was a great review

That's one of the reasons I really didn't like how TGWTG handled their thing with The Room reviews. They really could have been pulled into the courtroom and found out that Fair Use isn't a label you slap onto a video at the end, it's a legal defense only useful in court.
Props for taking the high road here Brad. It was a good review (I was about to watch it again) but sometimes you just have to be the bigger man.

Congratulation Suzanne C. Nagy, you own something that is completely worthless. More over than that, you bullied an internet reviewer who generated interest in you're project into pulling down his review which was obviously done for comedic effect. Considering how many movies reviewed by the Cinema Snob are now available for viewing through video on demand services, you probably shot to hell whatever chance you had at recouping anything from the failed investment known as Grizzly 2. I'm sure when the producers of Blood of Ghastly Horror or Day of the Panther got their royalty check, they could have cared less what some guy on the internet had to say about their movie. I bring up those two as an example because they are two movies I viewed, complete with commercial interruption, on You Tube. The only reason I watched those movies was that they were featured on this show. I'm also willing to bet the only reason they were made available for streaming was because they were featured on the Cinema Snob and film producers far more intelligent than you saw an opportunity to cash in. I'm sure the ad revenue from my views went to someone but guess who it wasn't. You! Suzanne C. Nagy, the owner of a dead propriety that no one could care less about. And now that you have alienated the fan base of this site, even if you do decide to release Grizzly 2 on dvd or video on demand, a significant would-be fan base won't watch it. All because you're ego was bruised by someone pointed out that you made a bad movie. Oh, and as far as threatening letters go, you should probably check you're grammar. I know I am far from perfect but I'm also not threatening anyone with legal action. Get a sense of humor, lady.

damn this was a good review. i'm sure you did explain to her that the snob is a character not how you actually are.
it's funny how some people get pissed off when they can't handle the truth.
yet i agree with your review it looked like a piece of shit. i'd still like to see it though more so out of curiosity really.
i don't see the big deal, i get that if it was a A list film & you had no rights to the thing. but it's a B film.
& it just feels uncomplete now in your reviews. perhaps someday you will be allowed to post it someplace.
i also think it's funny how other film makers have seen your reviews of their & have a good laugh at it. they know it's a bad film. but they have a good sense of humor about it. sometimes films don't come out the way
it appears on the script. & this may just be one of those times. it's a shame
, it kinda reminds me about this site i used to visit that had buffy spoilers & other joss whendon/fox shows after buffy ended the dude who ran the site,
at some point came home one day with a cease & desist from Fox. threatening him that if he didn't stop posting
spoilers about fox shows/shutting down his site. so he shut it down cause he didn't think he'd win & he didn't have the money to fight. it's a shame cause it was a great site.

I could buy that she was upset that the review violated copyright and all that, but the inclusion of the phrases "vicious approach to a movie" and "this horrible review" suggests that this is not about copyright. Miss High-and-Mighty cannot stand to see her beautiful gem be criticized. Fuck people like her.
How much do you want to bet that the attorney still has the copy of the review and watches it for pleasure, all the while thinking "God, what a tight-ass! Lighten up!"
If I was a multimillionaire, I would set up a fund to defend people like you, Brad, in court.
Fortunately, YT has the review up (for now).

Out of curiosity I went to Nagy's site and saw a preview of her latest "work" and let me tell you, it's the sort of pretentious garbage that the Snob would probably like. You know in cartoons how someone will throw paint at a canvas or scribble with markers when some stuck-up art dealer will come by and say "it's perfect, I must have it"? Yeah, well this is exactly like that; half the book is photos of mud, the other half is marker scribbles that even go on the photos themselves.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the person that was upset you criticized her unpublished movie also makes trash like the book; seriously I think zero effort went into making the book, just like zero effort went into making the movie, and she probably would get just as angry at a review of it.
My little brother would make a better piece of "art" than this woman, and he would throw less of a hissy fit if someone told him he could do far better.

Luckily for us viewers, the review is up to on Youtube, probably by a dummy name that Brad made. FU producer bitch.

WOW! Just, WOW.
It was stupid back when the NC and Lupa had to take down their reviews for The Room. This is even MORE stupid to have a review of an unfinished film. How the f*ck does this alleged producer "Suzanne C. Nagy" expect to enforce the copyright of something that was never even made for commercial release?!?
Nagy sounds like an appropriate name. Ooh! Hope that does not earn me a threatening e-mail message!!
Brad and whoever at Channel Awesome should have directed this person to the Copyright Act of 1976, the Fair Use doctrine, etc., etc. That Nagy person is either a troll or does not understand copyright law.

i always find it funny when the small frys get all butt hurt over someone mocking their movie, like in this instance and how tommy wiseau reacted to the nostalgia critic. still, if best to let the small minded people to themselves, even if you would win the court battle is it really worth the time and stress to fight.

I just checked out Suzanne Nagy's website for myself. My god this woman is more pretentious than The Cinema Snob and Roger Ebert put together. I mean were talking pictures of a city skyline with some green paint scribbled in with a description about how this is a stance against polution. Kinda figures. She would have to be that pretentious to believe that this is a masterpiece above criticism.

I know it's beating a dead horse at this point, but I feel the need to chime in on the fact that this woman has just ruined any chances of her movie making any more money. And that is almost as funny as I'm sure this video once was.
Also, just by glancing at the first page of her website you learn just how pretentious she really is. She is so up her own ass that I'm amazed she recognizes pollution when she sees it.

Um yea she has no legal recourse to make you take it down, your not selling these reviews, so they fall under fair use media.
Just look at the Plinkett reviews they practically show the entire movie in those. But companies have tried to take them down but they can't because of they fall under fair use media
