Night of Horror

The Cinema Snob watches the original version of "Curse of the Cannibal Confederates."  And it's one of the worst things in the history of things.

I agree, Manos is not the worst movie ever made. It is terrible, however I find a lot of unintentional comedic value in it. I own the MST3K version and the original and I laugh my ass off at both. I think Night of Horror would just give me the drunken shits because I'd have to drink so much booze to make it through the damn thing.

Why is it that most shitty movies have shitty sound?! And why does the director/writer/whatever have to act in the movie? Oh god, narration! And let's not forget about the awful music. Plus this whole "horror" movie is just boring as shit! This movie is like a list of things that make up all shitty movies.

P.S. Isn't this the second movie you reviewed that has Tony Stark in it?

    P.P.S. Little Fockers sucked.

Now I'm confused! I don't know if there is ever a movie that is worse than Manos. The only way I can find a movie worthy of "worst movie ever made" is if the entire movie is pitch dark the entire time and you can't see anything. Just put a lens cap over the camera and you're good to go!

Nice as always, but through the last months the distance to the original Snob-Concept grew more and more.

Not that the reviews now are not fun, but the original premise of the snobby arthouse guy reviewing exploitation-material is so far gone. A good example is the "Gerry" joke here. Two years prior, that would be played straight like "Gerry perfected this technique which started with this sucky undead-o-rama-sleepfest", instead of poking fun at Gus van Sants filmbore.

Just saying, that the "Cinema Snob" series had a huge tonal shift in the last year (and a half). It would be nice to see a real "snob video" again instead of just poking fun with a very minor snob-attitude that's almost only there to poke more fun at the movie, instead of being a satirical tongue-in-cheek-arthouse-parodying-thing...

Like any show, The Cinema Snob evolves over time. He's still a pretentious, over-nitpicky critic, but the humor of the series for the past couple years gets it comedy from the movies themselves as well as the character; where as in the early days, it was based solely on the joke that the character was a Snob (a sole joke that would have gotten stale over time) and the movies barely got touched upon. I still throw in snobby jokes, for instance the "Gerry" joke, which you didn't like, but still had the Snob giving pretentious props to its scenery (something only he would do). Look at it this way, The Snob has been doing this for 4 years and is very bitter.

Heh, yeah, that's one way of lookin' at it, alright. And hey, I thought the "Gerry"-Gag was not very snoby, although I liked and laughed. Like I said, I'm still hooked for the series, but it would be nice to see something like the "Salo"-Review again.

...ok, with that in mind, the "Cannibal Holocaust"-Episode was not really that, but because of other reason pretty brilliant and outstandig.

Alfred Hitchcock remade one of his films. The Man Who Knew To Much. Most people prefer the remake, but I like the original more. Maybe it's Peter Lorre, I just do. Which one do you like if you like either? Lastly, you should post an episode explaining why Manos isn't the worst movie. I'd watch it.

The sound ain't the only shitty thing; look at the lighting.

As a joke, someone should list "Boom Mic" as an actor on IMDB & list every movie the Snob has reviewed as movie's it's has a role in.

    ZOMBIE SAYS:
"We...will vote the eight unit. We join because....we believe. We were seasoned eunuchs, & our captain....eats lettuce in Camp A after camping. It's basil after basil. Fools all eat lettuce bravely. That last battle in the GOD DAMMIT!"

NO WAY can Las Vegas Bloodbath or Porno Holocaust be the worse movies now! The former at least has SOMETHING happen (namely, murder) even if it takes forever to get there. Whereas the latter has cheesy porn (with genital warts!), a funky soundtrack, and a zombie that gets to kill a couple people (and even forces a blowjob on one of them!) even if it's mostly dull talky filler. It's also fairly competently shot too. This? It's like if Andy Warhol decided to make a movie about ghosts instead of Empire!

Everybody mentions the bit of shutter gunk on the bottom of the screen; Brad, you forgot to mention that the video box claims this is an R-rated film!

Actually that place the guy walks into is "supposed" to be a bar (!), but it just looks like the basement rec-room it actually is.

The only reason this picture exists is due to Malinowski having filmed a Civil War re-enactment in the early 1970s; it could've been a WWII film if he had gone to an air show.

That Richard Marx song is like the Elton John equivalent of overplayed radio songs in my home state so comparing it to a piano score that - while repetitive - isn't half bad, is borderline insulting. Try a Jim Brickman gag next time.

Don't know if this has been mentioned already, but do the ghosts in this remind anyone else of the "Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future/Turkatron" from Aqua Teen Hunger Force? Let's look at the similarities. They're both constantly surrounded by fog, tell pointless exaggerated stories, meander endlessly like their audience actually gives a shit and only drunk/high/mentally impaired people can actually sit through their speeches. I think they actually are the same character.

PS hilarious review. As bad as the Ghost's speech was, the bar discussion in the beginning looks ten times worse. I'm surprised you were able to sit through that without hitting FF.
