Midnight Screenings: "The Hangover, Part II" and "Kung Fu Panda 2"
First up, Brad, Brian, and Virtual Boyd saw the midnight of "The Hangover, Part II."
And we sent Jerrid to "Kung Fu Panda 2."
And we sent Jerrid to "Kung Fu Panda 2."

LAST! with that out of the way I can watch the video.

Yeah I saw it and I agree. Still a solid comedy but I felt they could've done more with it this time around.

I really enjoy these midnight reviews! They are always entertaining and informing. Are you going to do these every week?

We're planning on seeing every midnight showing this summer.
Reply to this
Brad please make this a new thing it is hilarious, not just all summer but any possible time throughout the year

I cried at toy story 3

I have not seen the movie, but I have been suspecting the ending is going to be them finding out the guy they are looking for has been in the BASEMENT the entire time. Oooooooooo what a crazy reversal of expectations.

So where was he? I plan on seeing it when it comes in Red Box, but I don't mind spoilers.

haha Jerrid always looks like he's about to sneeze in the still shots XD
Loving these midnight screenings. You guys are hilarious!
Definitely waiting for Jerrids review on "Smurfs" XD

Jerrid looks like he's getting a handjob.

Love these midnight screening reviews, I feel bad for Jerrid having to see smurfs now but it should make for a good video so its worth it.
I feel like I'm the only person who didn't like the hangover (not at all interested in the second) I was in a theatre full of people who were all laughing while I'm sat there thinking "well this just isnt funny" and couldnt understand why I was (seemingly) the only one not being entertained. The Hangover was the biggest let down for me.
If I was Jerrid I'd think it a blessing to go see Kung Fu Panda 2 instead of Hangover 2.

Hey, I am in the same boat with you regarding The Hangover. I didn't see it in theaters but when I saw on DVD, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
When I heard a sequel was in the works, I was asking myself how they could make a sequel without it being the same thing? It seems to me that sequels of comedies don't always work out such as Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers.
Reply to this
I'm the same way. The type of humor 'Hangover' has just doesn't appeal to me at all. Sure, Kung Fu Panda is directed towards a kid audience I would much prefer to see that. I guess it's because when you see a 'Hangover' movie all you'll get is dirty humor, but that's only good in small doses.
Reply to this
As far as The Hangover and its sequel goes, if I want to watch a movie about some guys who can't remember what they did the previous night, I'll stick with "Dude, Where's My Car?", thank you very much.

I totally agree with the 2 comments above me.

Jerrid alone in a dark theater, at midnight, filled with nothing but children...
No one could leave that comedy gold alone!
God I love these guys!

Re: The President Clinton Cameo.
No cameo was ever filmed. Clinton and the Secret Service were spotted on the set in Bangkok. But he was just there to visit the set and have dinner with the cast before leaving the Country. People who spotted him on the set assumed he was going to appear in a cameo. Never happened.

Sounds like one of them government cover-ups to me.

I just saw Kung Fu Panda 2 and have to agree that it was pretty damn good. But Jerrid, you forgot to tell Brad the ultimate selling point; Gary Oldman voices the peacock villain! He might have actually seen it if he knew that little tidbit (BTW, Oldman was an awesome villain as always).

Honestly, I thought you guys were kind of being being dicks towards Jared during that whole second video, and the constant dismissal of Kung-Fu Panda and animated movies in general was getting very annoying, I won't lie.
You guys honestly seemed to have this extremely biased and negative grudge against anything without an R rating, constantly cutting Jarred off, derailing him, and deriding half the things he said, while he was just trying to talk about Kung-Fu Panda 2.
I'm 33 years old, and still see movies ranging from Winnie The Pooh to Up, to Toy Story 3, and everything in-between, and honestly there's absolutely no shame in that because these many of these kinds of movies are still pretty enjoyable, and still hold messages, meaning, and themes older audiences can enjoy, too.
I'm not saying that you guys need to start seeing these animated films yourselves if they aren't your thing, but I actually kinda wish some of you guys wouldn't get so elitist about other people in their 20's and past, who might go see something like Kung-Fu Panda 1, or 2, or something and enjoy it. Jus' sayin'.

I sort of agree with you. While, I found both reviews satisfying, I wish that the Kung Fu Panda 2 review was taken a bit more seriously. Yet, it could be that Brad doesn't have a preference for that type of cinematic experience. I'm 21, and I still find a lot of animated movies to be very entertaining. Some, story wise are completely awful yet the long amounts of time placed in the animation really captures my attention. Overall, I found the first kung fu panda to be great, and I thought that this second one was great as well.

Obviously you've never been around a group of friends who joke around with eachother and give eachother shit. And not one of us dismissed animated films in general.
Reply to this
These clearly aren't straight up reviews; they're just a group of friends talking about the movie, and when a group of great friends get together, there's bound to be a lot of joking going on. Grow a sense of humor. Notice Jerrid was also laughing in the video.

Guys, I do appreciate you going to bat for me, and I will admit that at times it does get kind of annoying to deal with the guys' interuptions. And being a guy with ADD derailing and distracting me is very easy to do.
But like Brad says, it's all in fun. If it really bothered me then I would honestly stop participating in these midnight showings. I do have fun doing these though, and like I said in the video, Brad's angle is send me to see these movies that he doesn't think will be that good, but jokes on him when I come out and say "This movie was really good." So, to give him the angle he was intending, I agree to go see the Smurfs movie...*shudders*

And the joke's on me when the movies we go see suck. Though I knew "Priest" was gonna suck.

And I can't believe I'm saying this, but if there is a midnight showing of The Smurfs (and I really hope there isn't), I will accompany you to it. Friends don't let friends see truly shitty movies alone. That and I fully expect to be delivered into heaven as that will truly signify the beginning of the rapture and the end of the world.

And you clearly put too much weight into one review. Did anyone tell you specifically that we didn't like animated movies? I for one, liked the first Kung Fu Panda. Quit dissecting a review that isn't meant to be serious in the first place.

They're friends being friends. Don't take it seriously.

I believe next week is X-Men: First Class. I think thats the only big movie being released and probably the only one likely to have a Midnight showing atleast

I enjoyed the 1st Hangover enough I still might go seethe 2nd one, but it's doughtful since I'm going to see Pirates this weekend as I saw Thor last week! Kung-Fu Panda... I might have to do what I did with the 1st one... watch it on regular tv whn there's nothing else on and I'm toolazy to put in a DVD! I'm not a Jack Black fan at all! So, will ya'll go see Green Lantern when it hits? Because I just gotta wonder if you can complain about it while Jerrid has to watch whatever turd movie hits the same weekend!?

So, how many times are the AMC folks going to let you loiter in their parking lot?

"Heat Vision and Jack" & "Shallow Hal" were the last two funny things Jack Black was ever in.

The funny thing is, BOTH of these movies came out on my birthday, today, May 26. Same day as my Grandpa's birthday. And the Fray plays today, and So You Think you can Dance starts again.
I don't like the Hangover. I NEVER did. And the sequel looks crappy. Can I PLEASE get a decent movie to come out near my birthday? You know what I had to see my last few birthdays? Pirates sequels and Star Wars episode 2 and 3. Yes. I watched those. I actually liked the Pirates sequels, and Episode 2 and 3. But in reflecting on them, I really think I should have seen something better.

There were rumors that Clinton was going in cameo but, he actually wasn't. He was speaking at an event near the filming grounds and the cast went to see him speak and Clinton said he was a fan and invited them out to dinner. While they were talking to him at dinner, they invited him to stop by the set and watch the filming, which he agreed to. He was onset, but he was never actually gonna be in the movie.
I heard this from an interview with Bradley Cooper so, i'm assuming it's correct...
and an interesting fact, Clinton's first words when arriving to dinner were "When is The A-Team 2 coming out and how can I be in it?"

You need to stop sending Jared on the high-risk missions.

Oh man, that was funny.

I have to say I also thought "Wow.. Jerrid is a saint, they are really annoying" but it was still very entertaining to listen and watch
If Jerrid and his Persephone (yeah... i forgot her name) are fine with it, I don't have to feel bad for enjoying it.
And who could not love Animation? They are obviously watching at least some of Family Guy and South Park ("Sideboob hour!") so they obviously don't despise it.

Hey Brad, kinda of hope these get screened beforehand but anyway I work for a national chain of theaters. Which there may be a location close to you and let's say there is, I can get you passes for the Summer. Just let me know and I'll make it happen.

Wow, that would be awesome for Brad! I mean, then he wouldn't have to waste money on midnight screenings, thereby making him jollier! Thereby making his reviews even more fantastic! Take the free tickets Brad! Take the summer passes! DO IT FOR THE GOOD OF MANKIND!!

Hell yes!

Cool just tell me where to send them and I will, that is if there's a location by you. Go to this link www.ravemotionpictures.com to see if there is and let me know even if there isn't I'll still send you some just in case we open one close by at future date. PS Love the shows keep up the good work.

Bill Clinton wasn't in the movie, he was Bancock for some dinner and visited the set. Thats what Bradley Cooper said when he was on some talk show.

I really liked the Hangover 2. I know it used a similar plot and jokes from the first movie but I loved that movie.
For the entire movie I wasn't thinking this is too much like the first movie I was thinking this movie is hilarious.

I saw this video before I went. So I wasn't too surprised by anything.. except for the result of the strip club with Stu. I didn't like the "hollywood" ending, especially with as dark as it was.. The monkey was funny, and the quote "a monkey nibbling on a penis is funny in all languages" lol
Still I agree with the darkness, and I probably would have liked it better if it went to the result of the brother that you were thinking too. Still, I don't think the "hollywood" ending could have happened if that happened.
I did laugh a number of times.. and I thought the funniest part was the ending when we got to see the pictures, just like the first one.

You could call this party The Cinema Mob.

What was the thing you were expecting to be bloodier? The two I'm thinking are either that the brother dying or the monkey dying.
I was thinking it would really be great when they were dropping the monkey off at the vet after getting shot if they had it play out like a kind of death scene in movies that is fairly common (but I can't think of specific examples at the moment). The kind of scene where someone gets shot, dies slowly, and has a sad but sweet scene with a buddy of his. Like with the healthy guy giving the dying guy his last cigarette and lighting for him; and dying guy says something like, "That tastes good," before drifting off into death like he's falling asleep. I thought it would have been a great move if they did a scene like that and played it completely straight, except with a monkey.

We were thinking when they started pulling the brother out of the elevator, it was going to cut him in half.

Because, hey, a bad sequel stealing from another bad sequel makes about as much sense as anything else in the movies so far. XD

Oh shit, now I want to see animals with screw-on human hands. Thanks Brian #1.

I thought that the first hangover movie was just ok, but I found the 2nd one to be pretty good. I do agree that it was very similar to the first one though. Lol yeah I thought the brother was going to get chopped in half.

I love these midnight screening reviews you guys do, Brad. Please keep 'em coming!

You have the awesome-est friends in the world, Brad!

I assume that at the end of the hangover 2 you were expecting him to be dead in a pool of blood right? thats what I thought was going to happen.

Saw the Hangover. Didn't laugh once.
Kung Fu Panda was awesome.

i wish you would go back to reviewing new movies alone. I dont really care what everyone elses opinions are. plus, you guys always end up goiing off on 3 dozen tangents. the constant interruption kinda annoys me.

The midnight reviews are a summertime thing. If you don't like them, they'll be over when the summer movie season ends.

What bothered me the most about Hangover II was the ending. I mean what the fuck? *Spoiler Alert* I mean so it is okay that Teddy lost his finger I mean he seemed pretty okay with that. I was really disappointed with the fathers reaction too. I mean Teddy was his prize who was a master musician and was going to be a surgeon and all of the sudden the day is okay with that, What the fuck!. Then again what do you except from a movie like this.
Reply to this
That actually annoyed the shit out of me too.
Reply to this
Yeah they were stressing the fact that his hands were important. I guess it was for the point of foreshadowing? but wow no pay off. Instead we get the cheesy cliche "you stood up to me, you pass" Come to think of it this movie wasn't even about being drunk so much as about being drugged.

I was unimpressed by Kung Fu Panda, so I really am not going to see the sequel. Ever.

Yep, I cried at Short Circuit as well.

And also, Priest. Man, Priest. I was a fan of the manga first so I pretty much knew this was going to be horrible because woah, can we get further from the manga. But man oh man.

I liked Kung Fu Panda 2 as well... My god, Garry Oldman was having fun in this movie as the peacock that's trying to take over China. But does anyone else feel like all the OTHER actors are wasted in both films? I seriously think people won't even notice Angelina Jolie and Jackie Chan if no one tells about them. Dustin Hoffman was the only one having somewhat significance in actually being IN the movie at the first Kung Fu Panda... that is, of course, besides Jack Black. And in this movie... sure they gave the characters more lines but I still got a little bit of the same annoyance as I had in the first movie.
Reply to this
I thought Hangover 2 was pretty funny. It of course wasn't as good as the first one by a long shot, but I liked it. And I also thought that when they found Teddy that it would end... bloodier, as you put it.

I've avoided both Hangovers for the simple reason that they are the exact same premise as "Dude! Where's My Car?"
Even though the Hangover 1 takes it seriously, I cannot get over that.

LOL I also thought *SPOILERS* that the elevator was gonna cut Teddy in half! I wish it went that way, it would have been on a whole new level of brilliance!
