Brad Tries Orbitz
No, not the gum. Watch as Jake and I try out a 14 year old bottle of Orbitz Drink.
We also sample some other drinks such as Dang!, Goya Sugar Cane, Goya Coconut, Columbiana, and a wheat drink called Boza.

eeek new brad tries and wtf is orbitz i thought that was the stuff i chew in class

I remember that Orbits stuff in Grade 6. Girls mostly drank it. Here's an ironic tip though. Someone I knew back then put the "enhancers" on their hand when we were barbecuing back then after they burnt their hand from the hot tongs and their hand felt better immediately.
Just so everyone knows, those "flavor enhancers" are just colored flavorless gelatin, and they are not medicated.

Nice, missed your ventures into the world of food/drink poisoning

That shit scared me too much to drink it when it was first on shelves. I don't know how you can drink it a decade and a half later. Uhg!

I used to love orbitz back in the day. The little balls are gum. The main reason to collect the bottles nowadays is to put colored lights under the bottles. I still kind of wish that it would be brought back

Talking about balls is hardly as okay, as it was now. Good sow, maybe you should try punica once, the fruty drink in the giant glass bottle where the bottle always opened with the same sound

omgeee! ah the memories! The kids in elementary school thought I was crazy when I drank that stuff at lunchtime. Glad to see a new Brad Tries video.

Living in Colombia, I was amused that you finally got to punch one of the most familiar and famous drinks in our country.
Colombiana really is a staple for us. You can get it anywhere, and there is people that actually like it better than other drinks. I like it too, but I'm not that high of a fan.
There's a special preparation named "refajo", where we mix Colombiana with clear beer (in equal parts). It's a pretty popular mix too for BBQs and parties.
Finally, I wanted to comment on Coke. In our country, Coke is still made with pure sugar, but I have tried the high dose sugar syrup variety, thanks to a friend who brought a bottle from USA. Being accustomed to the pure sugar version, I didn't like the corn syrup one. It just tasted... Bland. IMHO.
Keep the good work up! Waves to Jake, I love his work in your movies.

Oh god I remember this stuff. It was so gross. I had to run it through a strainer and get the chunks out.

ORBITZ FINALLY! *Fan-Squeee* This was my favorite drink as a kid. The orange one was by far the best. The balls had flavour 14 years ago. The last sip will be mostly balls n_n
I remember the 90s and they where basically the same in the usa and canada. Lots of plaid shirts tied around the waist, overalls, bright colors, Ace of Base, and Pogs. Anyone remember that show Ghostwriter?
Also good guest host, he's funny.

What is this misconception of Canada being like 10 to 15 years behind you guys in the states? Hey Americans guess what not only are we at the same level of pop culture as you, but we are far more advanced then you guys. We have Universal Health Care and we legalized Gay Mariage for our entire country in 2003, not only that, we have no minorities, and we dont allow a television station to claim it's news when it's not (FOX News)so who's behind on the times?

You're also light-years ahead of America in smugness and dickery!
I knew the instant Brad made the joke thin-skinned Canadians would be here spouting off how wonderful their country is and better than America... Guess what? Here you are!
Reply to this
And apparently one of my fellow Americans would come in and criticize someone for posting the positives of their country (unless you don't consider equality and truth to be positives, in which case, shame on you).
Especially since he came out and apologized for overreacting, when he didn't realize it was a joke. I'd rather spend time with the "smug" Canadian than the assholish American.

==I'd rather spend time with the "smug" Canadian than the assholish American.==
When did he say he was American?
And he was doing more than just spouting off the positives of Canada, he was dwelling on the negatives of America, all in an inappropriately defensive manner. He apologized, so whatever, but don't be an ass yourself, "Chris".

You are claiming that Canada is better because it doesn't have minorities? racist much?
Reply to this
I think you misinterpreted my "no minorities" comment, what I mean is that Canada is so diverse that we have every culture and race on the planet that make up the majority of Canada, for those who took it as a racist way, hope that clears things up.
Reply to this
It's an old joke that come from the fact that Canada was looking like 80's America in the 90's, like the way Canadian's talked and dressed and LOL @ far more advanced yet your super racist (1940's much?) in your over the top post from a simple joke, doesn't seem that much more advanced to me but what do I know? I'm just a dumb American from California.
Reply to this
Don’t worry... most of us Canadians aren't that ignorant. I don’t understand how he can try to defend our country and say his minorities comment in the same paragraph. Don’t worry; these kinda people (the ignorant poster) are not the majority in Canada. I also, personally, I don’t understand how some Canadians can get so offended over such a small joke. I found it kinda funny, myself.

OH MY FUCKING GOD!!! You finally did it! I'd been asking ya'll to try Orbitz since I started watching your shows.
I wish ya'll had got the large lot of it like on ebay of different flavors to try maybe some aged better than others.
The butterscotch root beer sounds awesome I love butterscotch!
What was that last thing? was that really sour milk mixed with other crap or is it that fermented tea stuff like off Andrew Zemmer?
Gotta love the cat anus that was a highlight of the episode!
Did you go down a water slide in a jacket/shirt? With sunglasses on? WTF?
"Hey, you bring me something to drink in the skull of an enemy!"

oh damn I forgot something!
Man, ya'll really loved talking about balls a lot in this video!
I live in Texas and Goya is a popular Mexican market brand name for drinks. I've seen several different drinks under that label. never the sugarcane drink but they do got a coconut milk drink if ya'll wanna try that. I tried it before and it just tasted of water with coconut shavings in it.
That reminds me of something else I'd like to see you dig up a can or bottle and try... Lime/Coconut Coke! Remember it?

I love Guarapo! (Sugar Cane juice)
It's really good if you put it in a machine and it squeezes it, it has to be filtered first, it's really sweet. GOYA is a spanish fruit/drink company. Also, to eat a sugar cane, you gotta peel the edge off, and suck on it, or chew it.

Holy crap, Orbitz! I could never remember what that drink was called. I used to drink it at my friend's house a lot when I was like 14, playing 4 player deathmatch in Quake 2 obsessivly. Memories, man.

Guarapo de ca~a is what you get from the first press of the sugar cane. It's not very good if it's not fresh and it's really thick. In the old days, poorer families would use the sugar cane juice to brew their coffee because they couldn't afford sugar. So, can is a big no-no. When it's fresh it's MUCH better.

I remember Orbitz! I had it once at a movie theatre, but it was pretty expensive. I remember it tasting alright, but I didn't have it again after that. I don't know if it was because of the price or the taste but it certainly didn't taste like bile.
On another note I'm from Canada and no, it wasn't '76 in the late 90s. We were just as alternative as anywhere in the US.
As always, great review. I love watching Brad Tries because I always know that I'm going to get a good laugh. Thanks for risking your health for our amusement!

Goya Sugar Cane drink is an insult to actual sugar cane. I've tasted both and that Goya swill made me cringe on the overall sweetness and aftertaste. Sugar cane itself is oddly not as supersweet as one would expect and is very fibrous.

I used to drink Orbitz all the time. It looks like this 80s kid's bubblebath called Petite Nette, or Roe in water.
When it was fresh, it just tasted like pure sugar water with a lite fruit accent.
Reply to this
I believe that is tapioca in the Orbitz. Well... that is my conclusion based on having the drink in the 7th grade... and trying to compare that memory to bubble tea in the modern sense.
It was a gimmick... gimmicks were cool in the 90's.
Reply to this
Reading what's in Boza, when fresh it would probably taste like sweet liquid pie crust with a touch of booze.
Brad, future request for December. Taste testing various homemade recipes & manufactured brands of Eggnog. Swear to god the last stuff I got in a carton tasted like bubblegum.

The internet is America? Didn't know that.
I knew the instant a thin-skinned canadian turned up a thin-skinned american would be here to defend his country.
See what I did there and do you see what you did?
I hail from the flawless country of germany where it's impossible to be patriotic, so I don't get these "my country is better than your's" battles.
If someone makes fun of germany I'm the first one to join, and I could make a lot of fun about canada as well as the us.
To keep it diplomatic: every country can and should improve. But as long as you're not getting gangraped on the street by authorities or in to jail (I never was in one, but movies suggest gangrape is a kind of tradition there, so getting gangraped there doesn't count) because you criticized something, you can be happy because it could be worse.

Wow, I completely forgot about Orbitz. I tried it with a friend of mine. I can’t remember what the flavour supposedly was (the balls were red, if that helps any) but it just tasted like sugar water. The texture though. Gack! It was like corn syrup mixed with puréed slugs. We each took one sip and dumped the rest down the drain.
I think Safeway were banking on Orbitz being the next big thing as my local one bought a whole mess of the stuff. Only a week later there were huge display barrels of Orbitz right in front of the doors marked down to 99¢ a bottle. I think that says it all. I believe that the Orbitz soft drink people cut their losses by selling the product name and website domain to the travel company for a large sum of money.
Incidentally, the little balls in Orbitz? Carnuba wax.
I tried a sugar cane drink from an Asian market once but it just kind of tasted like weak green tea.

No idea what was wrong with that sugar cane drink. Never had the canned stuff but I've eaten fresh sugar cane it's like the name implies its very surgary sweet.
You should try a can of Coconut Water, Goya sells it. Best to have it ice cold.
That wheat drink may have gone bad like others are saying. Pro-biotic means that it will increase your intestinal Flora so I don't imagine it can stay good for very long. Even milk gets iffy so close to the date.

You should definitely try Salmiak. It is a swedish licorice based on the salt Ammonium Chloride. A friend of mine is obsessed with the stuff, but the rest of the guys and I find it repulsive. In any case, it would make a hell of an episode if you can manage to get your hands on some.
