Midnight Screening: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"
First, 2 Potter fans (Sarah and Jillian) and 1 non fan (Brian) check out the final installment of the series.
Then, 2 non fans (Brad and Jake) talk about Deathly Hallows with 1 fan (Jerrid), since the theater didn't have a midnight of Winnie the Pooh.

I think you guys, in the first review, are forgetting that Part I and Part II ARE one movie. They came out separately, yeah, but they are ONE film. So it seems like they were uneven, but they belong to one film. As with the CGI Aging/ De-Aging: I thought they used the TRON: Legacy de-aging really well on Alan Rickman; it looked flawless; but they could've done a bit better with making Harry and co. look older. All in all, I thought the film was fantastic!
Also, I'm going to nit-pick: you guys in the first review called the fetus thing the piece of Dumbledore, instead of Voldemort.

So that explains bald head man, he's a Potter fan. Now it makes sense. Reviews are always better with Ms. Snob and Sarah.

just watched Jerrid, Jake and Brad's review.
And I don't think I've laughed so hard in a long while than I did to the last 10 minutes of that with the willow rants and homosexual shit.

Brad, Jarrid and Jake's review was a fail. 27 minutes long review - 3 minutes of it, overall, spent reviewing the film, 24 talking about everything BUT the film.
Reply to this
And it was fucking golden, holy shit, haha
Reply to this
It really wasn't. If it was called "Brad and Jarrid talk about shit and stuff" that would have been golden. This is titled a review which it clearly isn't. False andertisement.
Reply to this
The review with the girls is a review. The part with the guys is a group of non fans shooting the shit about having to go see Harry Potter. And as a non fan myself, I found it hilarious because that's what I would be like. You shouldn't expect non fans to give a detailed review, especially if they haven't seen the other movies, and in either case, Brad gave the best review he could possibly give in the first part of this video.
Reply to this
Well if you want a serious review, you're at the wrong place.
I'd rather have the Willow quotes personally.
Reply to this
Nowhere in Brad's description does it say "review." It just says Midnight Screening.
Reply to this
Midnight Screening isn't a full review. It is thoughts on a movie that they just saw and things that happened while going to see a movie; vlog style. If you don't like their chats why come here?

Jake, I swear to god, just steals any commentary that is apart of and while I shouldn't be happy to see anyone suffer through bad movies, I thank you, good sir, for doing so. I'd probably just wait to see this when it comes to dvd or something, I did for the first part of 7, and I'm not a big fan of this series. Again, I'm with Jake, these kinda magic is just stupid beyond reason, especially when you grew up playing D&D and what not, where they took it serious.

You do know that Warwick Davis("Leprechan")himself played TWO of the characters in this movie!

My god Jake, the hate is flowing through you. I played D&D most of my life as well, and Harry Potter is great. You need to learn to expand your mind. Movies like LotR and HP can co-exist.

I thought Harry Potter was the Master of Death or whatever because he owned the Elder Wand, Invisible Cloak and Resurrection Stone - hence allowing him to choose to come back to life. Or something like that. I haven't read the books and had my 11 year old niece explain it.

Too bad about the Pooh
BUT.... I can think of one EVEN MORE interesting....it seems Sarah Palin's movie is also opening against HP (in a few selected cities). Guess not in Springfield though, huh? .....Double Drat.

Well. I'm a Potter Fan by default. I had to read them to my kid. The last one was pretty good. The only thing about the films that really bugs me is Radcliffe. The Potter in the books is a bespectacled short-arse. He should look like a young Steve Buscemi.
Of course the whole thing is based on Troll with Micheal Moriarty.
I love Micheal Moriarty. Acting but not acting. There but not there. Fucking absolutely unique. Not even Nic Cage can subvert a film like Moriarty.
BRAD. I demand a Moriarty seasons.

I got "semi-dragged" to see the film with my girlfriend, and I didn't mind a bit. It entertained me, and I actually started to like the characters by the end. The trailers were rather awful, save for SH2AGOS one.
Brad was pretty close to my own reaction, save that I started to enjoy it a bit. I passed on the midnight showing, though. The last thing I needed was to be ridiculed for not dressing up.

That was the 2nd best/funniest review ever number 1 being Mr Poppler's Penguins. I also love Jake's rants about films and the weird people that seem to sit around/behind him. Lots of laughs, rants and bad movie references. This is why I have watched all of this summer's midnight screenings you guys have done. Now with Harry Potter I enjoyed the film and agree with Brad and Jerrid's views about "If you a fan or not a fan you will..." It would be good to let Jake rant about a good film. Looking forward to the next midnight review.

I have been a huge harry potter fan since the first book and than I saw the movies and sure I liked them well enough although I have always preferred the books. I absolutely loathed harry potter 7 part 1 & 2 for many different reasons. From what I have seen most people enjoy the movie well enough but oh well just difference in opinion. I enjoyed the reviews and I agree with Sarah the most about the movie. lol Brad, Jerrid, and Jake made me laugh throughout their review and it was very enjoyable. I personally wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone but in the end it is about personal preference if you enjoyed part 1 than yeah you will probably like part 2.

I'm a theater employee and to answer your question about theaters selling seats Brad. Now I work for the Regal group, so AMC might do different.
Theaters never sell every seat in the house as the phrase goes. Generally tickets are sold to the point where there is about 5-20 or so seats left (depending on size of the theater) and the box office computer then closes that showtime and it's considered 'sold out'. Once the computer locks the showtime, only refunds/exchanges can be done; but no more tickets can be sold.
The time cannot be unlocked without a call to the District office to have someone up there unlock it.
The reason is to have some room to move customers to accommodate patrons who might be handicap or cases of parents with small children who obviously can't sit away from them.
So yeah, sold out means there's just a few seats left; but no more tickets can be sold.

This was awesome! I want to see Harry Potter still but ain't saw the 1st one before it so it's highly unlikely I'll want this one in theaters either!
But that 2nd video was hilarious! Jake you the MAN!!! Yeah ya'll only talked about Harry Potter for 5 minutes of a 27 minute video! I love Willow too one of my favorite childhood movies! You should do a review of it some day it's with in you time frame!
Also, Brad does a great impression of Warwick Davis!
Wait a minute!!!! I thought they were suppose to show the Dark Knight Rises teaser before HP7TDHP23D!? I'd loved to have heard Brad's, Jake's, and Jerrid's thoughts on that trailer! Even though I've seen it bootlegged onto Youtube and it's made mostly of stock footage from the 1st 2 Batman movies!

I thoroughly enjoyed these movies, but this is coming from a fan of the series. You guys pretty much said everything that could be said about these movies without going into detail. Brad and Sarah's points were the most spot on. Sarah was right about large parts of the plot being skipped over to the point only fans would really get what was going on. Brad was right about it being a movie that you'll likely be entertained by even if you don't understand what the hell's going on.
And I guess Jake also had a pretty good point. If you don't give a shit about Harry Potter, this movie isn't going to make you give a shit about Harry Potter.
Reply to this
Well, I can understand those who aren't fans forced to see the movie, but as a massive Harry Potter fan, I of course loved it.
FUNNY STORY ABOUT MY THEATRE: We saw a trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises" and after that trailer, some guy stands up, and yells, "YES!! FUUCCCKK!!" He was so happy, and everyone clapped for this guy, because he was hilariously overexcited over this trailer.
And the theatres around me were all 10 screens sold out as well.
Reply to this
I want to mention that no, theaters avoid selling all the seats. At least the one I worked at didn't. We required a warning at about ten percent left. We had a small theater so generally around forty seats got a warning and we stopped entirely at ten seats left.

Jake, I understand your point, if I was into hardcore fantasy things like D&D, I might not be tolerant of Potter, because it is a lot less serious. Even LOTR is more serious, with staffs and whatnot.
http://www.redhen-publications.com/HistoryofMagic.html
That is a link to one article on a website of an EXTREMELY devoted Harry Potter fan which speculates that perhaps the wizards in JKR's universe used staffs to channel their magic in the past, but later switched to wands.

I hope you guys will go to see Winnie the Pooh any way. It's a darn good movie

Love these rants, though I, as a Potter fan, did enjoy the movies immensely. Hope you guys continue the midnight show reviews beyond the summer. Not all of them of course, but I'd love to hear you all rant about having to see the new Twilight during a midnight showing. That would be gold, lol.

Wow, Jake got REALLY mad at about 3 minutes or so. Like, if I was Jerrid I would have told him to calm down, because his face was getting red! The way Jake looked at Jerrid, I genuinely thought it was going to get ugly in that car!!!

This hasn't been a kids series for several movies. It's the same with the books. So I don't think that's much of a problem really. Actually I had a totally different experience in general it seems.

All joking aside, Jake got the heart of why something about these films have bugged me. It is using a wand for magic, it just always looked stupid to me. A staff would have been better, or shit just raising magic with your bare hands like if it was a super power. The measly wand shit had bugged me cause when you say magic, I expect really big ass spells that take a physical toll on you or something. Not this flicking your wrist bullshit. I'm not a huge D&D player (just a causal one) but I can see where someone can look at these films and think it has to much wimzy about it. Even during this film i felt it was never really dark. Sure people are dying but it never really gets into truly dark territory.

Brian's "revelations" that Transformers and HP8 had violence and movie images that were too disturbing for little children were invalid. Both movies were rated PG-13. If you are a parent who takes your pre-teen child to these movies, because YOU wanna see them and have a family day at the same time, knowing full well that those kid will have nightmares...then you are a lazy bastard.

Something I want to say to Jake actually. I was friends with a witch who was okay with wands. she said that they are common items with those sort of people because the wand is the extension of the fingers and functions like a staff.
So really jake, yes staffs are common but wands are also used. I actually have druid wand.

Warning: Occult and esoterica are a huge interest of mine, so I'll go off for a bit.
Wands for magic, pretty much are used in ceremonial magic the same way your LOTR staves are going to be used, I'd guess. It's something to channel energy though, as well as being a symbol of, depending on the situation, the element of air, masculinity (as an obvious phallic symbol), and some traditions have other uses. But if you want to look at the old polytheistic gods (Hermes, anyone?), wands were a pretty common tool. A wand or rod isn't out of place, really. It serves the same purpose as a staff, but is smaller, and therefore easier to carry around with you.
Granted, the Wizard Harry I think rocks the most carries a staff, but Dresden's blasting rod isn't that far from a typical 'wand' and the fact the magic in the Potterverse ISN'T different between genders, means they have to pick something that works for both sexes. There's a history with wands for magic, and every fairy godmother around means it's not going to hurt your witches to have them.
Of course, the last few books tried to add a logical system to magic that before seemed to be point-and-click instant whateverthefuckyouwant that just didn't make sense in context, but the staff thing... you have to cover witches and wizards. Compromises have to be made.
((Or maybe the witches decided everyone was going to switch to wands after the wizards got into 'my staff is bigger than yours' contests one too many a time))

T do understand the pain of men forced to watch things they're not into by girlfriends.
The answer to this vexed problem is herbal cigarettes. The urge to rant disappears and is replaced by an ability to nod sagely, thus giving the impression of interest, whilst thinking about breasts.

Is it terrible I love Jake's agony? He seems to be gold when ranting up a shitstorm of hatred (or for this, disinterest) While I GET other people taking offense to this not being a pure review, I appreciate the hilarity and fun that the Critic always brings, and of the rest of the "cast" Jake comes a close second, only because the critic is far more thurough in thoughts, most of the time.
With that said, Jake, control reality and dont have family emergencies, we need you on shitty flicks, and Im placing money Captain America will continue your disappointemnt in crappy summer flicks! If anything (from gameplay) it'll have flashy action scenes. If that's enough to sell a movie, Im not sure I've been watching these Glasses review things ever (which defies reality)

you didnt get the "dark knight rises" trailer? that trailer was probably the best part of the experience (and I liked harry potter 7.2).

You know what's awesome about selective media? You don't have to watch what you don't want to watch, and as an added awesome bonus, you are not required to comment on the thing you don't want to watch.
Isn't that great?

Keeping the first row open is the theater's half-assed way of providing space for handicapped customers because I'm guessing this is one of those steep, deep ampetheater-style rooms (so designed so they could run IMAX if they needed to.)
There is no way in Hell I would watch "Harry Potter: El Finito Grande" without seeing part one of it.* Jake has all my sympathy.
THANK CHRIST HARRY "balls" POTTER IS OVER.

* Because then you are playing catch up the whole way; it's like watching Film Two of the Soviet version of "War And Peace" - you are lost without either having read the novel beforehand (and Sergei Bondarachuk played with that as well.)

I am sad you guys didn't get the dark knight rises trailer, I really wanted to know what you guys thought and if you like the batman series. As a person who read the series, the book was better, my imagination was better and the film was just not that great for me. But for me the 3D rocked. The highlight of the night for me was the dark knight rises trailer which gave me a heart attack of excitement.

Ok, this is like the third time in a midnight screening that Jerrid has been mystified by common film trivia. It's getting scary. You're not secretly 70 years old and not hip to these whippersnappers and their loud music and whatnot, are you?
New show idea. Movie Trivial Pursuit with Brad, Jerrid and however many more you can get.

Can't help it, you started talking about wizards and staves, and all I could do was start singing "A wizard's staff has a knob on the end, knob on the end, knob on the end
A wizard's staff has a knob on the ennndddd!
What he does with it is magic!
A wizard's staff has a knob on the end
And runes run up the shaft
It's long and proud and stiff and loud
It's the pride of wizardcraft."
And I figured I'd be the only one making the lame joke, but still giggled to myself.
You went to Willow, I decided I really should rewatch that film, lol'd a bit at antics, figured things were nearly done.
And then you went there, you goddamn went the cocksucking route, and I fucking lost it, cause I was still going "Knob on the end, knob on the end" like the crazy discworld fan I am, and it's midnight, so I just crack up.
Great job making me laugh my ass off.

I think probably my favourite part of the second review was when Jake was talking about Dungeons and Dragons, and Jerrid mentioned he thought the sequel was alright. That sudden look on Jake's face before getting back to what he was talking about caused me to laugh harder than I should've. Great reviews all around though.
