Captain America was a blast to watch and I did love all the little comic references (getting to see the Howling Commandos and how the shield was explained). I did find the appearance of the Kirby comic making an appearance kind of weird (in the real world it was released before the US entered the war...which caused a lot of controversy and a lot of death threats for Kirby but it was used as propaganda in the film). There was also a couple plot holes that got pointed out after the movie. Still, I was okay with the "I had a date" line since I thought it had a touch of sadness in Evans' tone.

Glad you guys liked Captain America. I thought it was okay. I thought the whole corny selling bonds part could have been left out, but other than that I liked it. I don't know if you had the same bullshit with the trailers I did here in Big Spring, Texas, but did you get the Twilight Saga movie coming out on Nov. 18th repeated 5 fucking times? I did. 4 times, between other trailers, that occurred before the movie started and a 5th after the Avengers premier at the end of the movie. What the fuck?! It got so crazy that two guys got up and ran around the theater screaming; "I hate Twilight!" I didn't care for The Amazing Spider-Man trailer because they're simply re-doing the origins story and what the fuck was up with him having spider webbing coming out of his fucking neck? The P.O.V. Spidey shot made me sick as shit.

Oh man, Brad, if you hate the trailer for The Change-Up that much, just wait until you see the actual movie... it's terrible.

Also, if your theater is at all like mine, you might have three movies to review next week; Crazy Stupid Love is also getting a midnight show alongside C&A and Smurfs.

I actually saw FWB at a free screening and it was your typical romantic comedy garbage. Justin and Mila don't have chemistry and the idea of making fun of the cliches while still doing them was lame.

    Cowboys & Aliens (Brad/Brian?)
    Crazy, Stupid, Love (Jillian/Sarah)
    The Smurfs (Jerrid/Jake)

    Awesome!!!
I'm going to try my damnedest to see Captain America this weekend if at all possible! I've been waiting all year for this movie! And, I'm glad to hear ya'll praising it!
So, is Red Skull dead at the end or did they leave it out there that he could return in a sequel as a villain again?
So, a Birth Day!? Is there going to be another Birth Day video of ya'll getting hammered?
You know something that'd been awesome for them to have done in the Captain movie was to have that "America Fuck Yeah!" song from Team America playing over the end credits!

Friends With Benefits had no interest for me outside see Mella nude, but I can wait till it's on DVD or on Cable.
The Spider-Man trailer does look awesome. No Dark Knight Rises for ya'll yet?
Ya'll seam so happy to be watching Smurfs!! XD

I usually don't like to give spoiler alerts, but since you asked, here it is. Red Skull was destroyed by what I could only see as being Pandora's Box. He simply disintegrated into the box. The Dark Knight Rises trailer was shown down here where I live, not sure if Brad & Co. got the trailer up in Illinois yet, so I can't answer that question.

Ok, I read it said desintagrated him on wiki but I didn't know if that mean he was killed or like sent into an other demention to return in the future. Because I hate it in comicbook movies whn they kill off a villain at the end.
And the cube is the Cosmic Cube a very famious Mcguff... I mean weapon in the comics every body wants!

        SPOILER

He wasn't actually disintegrated, I thought it was pretty obvious that the Cosmic Cube opened the Bifröst and sent Red Skull somewhere else (it was essentially the exact same effect they used in Thor and that particular Cosmic Cube came from Asgard).

Well I'm not sure if they gave the box a name. I don't remember that part. I know they never showed Red Skull after his disintegration so I am guessing he's dead. I am not sure if they will make a Captain America sequel since this movie is leading right into The Avengers movie. One thing that's been bothering me about these movies lately that tie right into The Avengers is why they're using the alternate reality Nick Fury and not the real Nick Fury. And for those who don't know, yes, there is a major difference. The real Nick Fury isn't black. Nothing against Samuel L. Jackson or the alternate Nick Fury, I'm just curious why they went that route is all.

yeah I know that only because of the wiki page linking the Tesseract to the Cosmic Cube page. probely the reason they didn't call it that was it was named that by Thanos a character that'll never ever make it into film because his origins and what he is would take too long to explain.
They're wanting to make more movie of each character after the Avengers movie. Even Hawkeye and Blackwidow are getting their own spin offs after the Avengers... well, if it does really well that is but I'm sure it will.

they went with the Samuel L. Jackson Nick Fury because that's the version they've been using the most since his 1st appearance in the Ultimate Universe. Every Marvel cartoon since then has had this version in it.
Also, they're just in general heavily using Ultimates as a template for this movie franchise as it's a lot tighter continuity than the mainstream stories. this Avengers movie they're making is mixing Ultimates and Ultimates 2 all into one story. from what I gather the story is going to start out with them wrangling the Hulk like in Ultimates and Ultimate Avengers animated movie, then Loki is going to some how lead the Skrulls to attack Earth which is a mixture of his leading Liberators in Ultimates 2. And the whole Skrull ting will play out a lot like Ultimates Vol. 2 and the 2nd Ultimate Avengers cartoon.

You guys always talk about the heat and such while in the car, the fogging windows etc. Why not turn on the car and run the A/C? Yeah it'd "waste gas" but you wouldn't use up that much over the course of an hour and would certainly be better than sweltering to death in the car during a nation-wide heatwave. Opening the door cannot offer that much coolness.

Don't get me wrong, I like Jerrid and Boyd's commentary, but for it to be really funny the movie would have had to suck, which it didn't; meanwhile a Pooh review by men well beyond college age is amusing either way.

I am 28 and recently wrote a short review for Winnie the Pooh. I gave it high marks and praised it for its animation and for staying true to the spirit of the original '60s cartoons.

Just saying, it most likely wouldn't be another Zookeeper video, assuming the viewers had the same respect for the art of animation that I do.

Captain America was SO dull, the entire first act dragged on forever. Red Skull was portrayed with typical retarded villain syndrome so he posed such little threat it diminished any effects they had to make captain america look impressive. Not to mention cap went back and forth from blabbering retard to master assassin with really no explanation.

This movie just had way to much fluff, especially the love story which was 45 minutes cliche googley eyes between the two actors without any really related or enjoyable dialouge.

Captain america is a turd 1/5

      1) It's an origin story, the first act is always heavy in an origin story (at least if you want anything explained). Personally the pacing of the first act didn't bother me, the second act drug a bit...but not badly enough to bother me.

      2) Red Skull was fairly generic, but I wouldn't call him retarded. It was a competent performance for an ok character. Personally I never much cared for any incarnation of Red Skull, I preferred Sin.

      3) Blabbering idiot and fighter are not exclusive concepts. Just because he was advanced to the peak of human physical achievement doesn't mean he's better at dealing with people. So he still blabbers and can kick ass. Deal.

      4) I actually enjoyed the love story in this one as it seemed organic (rather than crowbarred in like the "romance" from Thor). It didn't take too much time, gave a little more depth to the piece. And, I'm sorry, but their parting dialogue was excellent.

Captain America is an enjoyable film, 4/5.

Oh yeah BTW the best romantic comedy is the movie the Sweetest thing with Christina Applegate and Cameron Diaz. It's like a chick movie with crude male like jokes. Very funny. The uncut version is the version to watch.

    Urgh.

The Cinema Snob/Brad Jones is getting so "TL-DW" these days.

If he spent as much time actually reviewing films as opposed to spouting verbal pomposity and name dropping obscure film references/comparisons he'd be a half decent reviewer.

Only ramboralph4life on Youtube is more tedious (his long slow drawl can be longer than the films he reviews! Must be the side effects of the Mental Valium Tablets he takes )

I agree. If they had cut out the stupid romance and gave his time on earth more purpose (rather than be a two day pointless exercise), Thor would have been the better film. As it stands, however, First Avenger is superior. Evans surprised me. I really don't like him, at all. I went into this film feeling really negative about him in particular, but I must say I was wrong.

Finally coming around to comment after seeing Captain America this evening. Don't really care for Friends with Benefits though.

First of all, I rank it as the best comic book movie of the year along with Thor. I'm sure it's because I feeling excited about next year's The Avengers. Didn't see the post-credits teaser, but did checked it out online from an "illegal" YouTube source. Hopefully, the higher-quality version should be up this week.

    (SPOILERS)
In terms of Red Skull's demise, I'm sure he was transported to Asgard and there's a possibility we might see him again in The Avengers as either the main villain or in a quick cameo. If he's not in The Avengers, then it's most likely that he got his ass handed to him by Thor that we sadly don't get to see.

i had a problem with the final line too but i got what they were going for...a bitter sweet old timey feel to it like he promised to see her at the dance hall and she would be waiting for him there...kinda liek those stories that happened alot that the girl would wait for her guy not knowing what happened to him or not believing so every year she would go and wait..and wait.. but he will never come..so that makes it more sad and bitter sweet.

i liked thor more but it was more happy this was about ..well war,war isn't pretty nor happy i liekd that they used the romantizition of the ww2 that happened in that era ...it was so 40's i like the look and feel of the movie...it was good origin and showing him in the present.

can't wait to see the avengers they showed the sneak peek=D it was cool

but yea i liked thor better captian america was awesome but yea i agree with meagan ...on what she said about the whole star spangled joke but you got love the big cheese ball i grew up with him on marvel vs capcom always picked him with wolverine lol

I was surprised at how fun the movie was to watch, honestly. It was surprisingly well shot, written and very well acted. I agree about the scrawny Steve Rogers effect, though: sometimes it looks like his head was floating over the screen. I like too when they beef him up... I thought they turned him into Reb Brown!
