Thus why I saw this movie due to my like of the first three. And... yeah I'm in full agreement with Brad and Jake here except actually Jake I think this is WORSE then the Smurfs. Yeah the Smurfs was really bad and terrible and stupid but at least it had a villian and not an infuritaing ending (the real ending isn't the freeze frame but the kids looking at other potiental spy kids and the girl punching the boy again which just pissed me off so much). And honestly if you watch the actual Smurf series again it really honestly does suck so at least it's at the same level as the movie. This dragged the entire franchise down though without any likeable characters or enjoyment to be found whatsover. The effects were terrible, the puns were unbearable, the plot made no sense... you know I could go on ranting on how much this movie sucks for 10 times as much as the character limit would allow but I'm just going to say I feel really sorry for Jake for having to watch this and Smurfs and the only summer movie he could enjoy was X-Men First Class. I mean not only did Brad get to see a lot of the better movies of the summer but it's also his job to watch and talk about bad movies. Not the same for Jake so I really feel for you man. And I'm going to give you a warning now of the kids/stupid movies you may have to be dragged to next summer:
Battleship (though at least that looks stupid fun) Men in Black 3 (I kind of liked 2 but honestly the franchise should of died then. This dosen't seem like a Toy Story 3 scenario where they can improve at all on the original) Snow White And The Huntsman (that's right Kristen Stewart is Snow White, so once again something related to Twilight rapes a classic fairy tale) Madagascar 3 (The second one from what I've seen is bad so I don't want to know what this one would be like) I Hate You Dad (aka I hate you Adam Sandler for starring in this) G.I Joe 2 (how this got a sequal I'll never know) Ice Age: Contiential Drift (why can't we end this era and move on to a period these characters wouldn't exist?) Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (these movies are cheap and do make a lot of money for the stuido which is why they keep being made to our ever loathing torment).
Sucks you guys can't do any more summer midnight screenings if only to find somehting to wash the taste out of this one. That's why I'm watching Columbia today: even if it isn't good at least I'm not ending my summer movie wathcing on fucking Spy Kids 4D. Screw that. Reply to this

Well, too bad, the first couple were pretty good as far as kids movies go, but this one does look wretched.
What ruffles my feathers is that in this one the kids are twins, according to wikipedia. I find Hollywood's practice of abritarily making characters twins when they could just be siblings of different ages (Little Fockers, 30 Minutes or Less, this movie, are the ones from this year alone I can think of off hand). In the Change-Up in sort of made sense in that they wanted a boy and a girl baby, so that was less gratutious.
But this gratuitious making charactesr twins I find more offensive than anything. In the first three movies, they got by well having an older brother and younger sister, why not do that again, or invert it? Or make it girl/girl twins or boy/boy twins?
Its just this putting in boy/girl twins in movies for no reason makes me sad and also a little angry. Unless they are going to have serious plot reasons for it, or discuss the special relationship of boy/girl twins, it just seems mean-spirited and unncessary and so on.
Now, I have not seen this movie, so maybe the fact that the leads are twins is not gratutious, and their special boy/girl twin bond is discussed, and there is good non-gratutious reason for it, but somehow I doubt it.
That rant aside.....
Lol at the "quality parenting" thing, I agree, it is good to be childfree (not childless), and be a THINKER: Two Healthy Incomes, No Kids, Early Retirement (or in Brad's case: OHINKER, as I believe Jill has once said that she is jobless).
And I am PISSED Alba is in this. She is overrated as far as hotness goes, and even for a female actress is fucking awful. Worst part of Machete is her. And if she is pregnant in this, then even her extremely marginal and overrated hotness factor is destroyed. Reply to this

Just make AWESOME FUCKING REAL ADULT REAL MOVIES. YOU ARE AWESOME AT THIS. WHY FUCKING EXPERIMENT??
Battleship (though at least that looks stupid fun)
Men in Black 3 (I kind of liked 2 but honestly the franchise should of died then. This dosen't seem like a Toy Story 3 scenario where they can improve at all on the original)
Snow White And The Huntsman (that's right Kristen Stewart is Snow White, so once again something related to Twilight rapes a classic fairy tale)
Madagascar 3 (The second one from what I've seen is bad so I don't want to know what this one would be like)
I Hate You Dad (aka I hate you Adam Sandler for starring in this)
G.I Joe 2 (how this got a sequal I'll never know)
Ice Age: Contiential Drift (why can't we end this era and move on to a period these characters wouldn't exist?)
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (these movies are cheap and do make a lot of money for the stuido which is why they keep being made to our ever loathing torment).
Sucks you guys can't do any more summer midnight screenings if only to find somehting to wash the taste out of this one. That's why I'm watching Columbia today: even if it isn't good at least I'm not ending my summer movie wathcing on fucking Spy Kids 4D. Screw that.

I saw the original 'Spy Kids' back when it came out (and I was wise enough to stop there), and I vividly remember that they had used the awful "Shitake mushrooms" joke there, as well.
Apparently the joke's so nice, they had to use it twice.

Are you guys still going to watch movies when they come out and do Vlogs about them even though summer is over?

El Topo Chico is angry. You won't like El Topo Chico when he's angry.

Can you please get rid of the guy who yells and curses every other word? It's a tired schtick and gets very abrasive very quickly. Please explain to him that adding "fucking" to an unfunny comment doesn't magically make it funny. Brad is good as usual, however.

It's not schtick.

One more thing.
It is rude to talk in movies, guys, even if you hate the movie you are watching. Very disrecptful. Shame, shame.
Again, thanks for letting me know how horrid this is, I had a small change of seeing this, in that I thought the others were okay to decent, and go to a lot of movies. Thanks
And yes, RODRIGUEZ, STOP MAKING FUCKING KIDS MOVIES. Spy Kids Part 1 was pretty good, 2 and 3 were tolerable, but this is shit. Shorts is shit. SBALG3D is shit. Just make AWESOME FUCKING REAL ADULT REAL MOVIES. YOU ARE AWESOME AT THIS. WHY FUCKING EXPERIMENT?? If you need to make something else, then maybe a pure horror film, or a mindfuck movie, if you don't want to make action movies, then branch out a little at a time, don't go make the complete opposite fucking kind of movie, that makes no sense.
Reply to this
He DID do a "pure horror" movie:
The Faculty.
It was about kids in high school who are menaced by aliens who take over the bodies of their teachers...
...and it sucked.

Well played, sir. I seem to have repressed the memory of that one.

I remember the first Spy Kids being pretty good, even now I think it's a very decent kid's movie. I never bothered watching any of the others, I can only imagine though, lol.

Seeing these videos have been the highlight of the summer. I can't wait for another one later on in the year and I can't wait till next summer.
Jake..sucks to be you.

So is it more depressing coming out of a bad kids movie at 3am or midday? Something about having sunlight in the background while you guys talked about this piece of shit seemed kinda...sad.
Anyway, I've really enjoyed all of these videos throughout the summer - thanks guys (and gals)!

Finally! I've been waiting all week for this review! The first Spy Kids was really good, the second Spy Kids was good, the third Spy Kids was okay from my opinion, Shorts was bullshit, and this forth Spy Kids looks like absolute garbage! Robert Rodriguez's best movies were Spy Kids 1 and 2 while Shorts and Spy Kids 4 are his worst movies ever made. Seriously Robert, STOP MAKING DUMB ASS KIDS FILMS! Look, the first Spy Kids was awesome and the second one was pretty good but stop making dumb kids films! His movies went stupid after Spy Kids 3! Thank god my parents aren't dragging me to Spy Kids 4 cause I feel really bad for Ricky Gervais. I mean seriously, The Smurfs is the funniest movie ever compared to this trainwreck of a film! Spy Kids 4 looks worse than Mr. Popper's Penguins, Zookeeper, and The Smurfs combined.

I'm a little sad there'll be no more Midnight Screenings for the summer. Would've been nice to hear your thoughts on Don't Be Afraid of the Dark and Apollo 18. Still, I'll keep a look out for midnight reviews of anything big coming in the rest of the year like Sherlock Holmes 2 and (good lord) Breaking Dawn Part 1.

Oh man, margaret thatcher. She's pretty fucking unpopular with a lot of people here in the uk for a reason, horrible horrible, milk stealing bitch.
Mind you, when you said pearls, I honestly thought it was going to be the muppets movie. Dissapointment AND hatred from me!

I was actually in this film as an extra/stand-in. I played a guy who was supposed to be in England (though they filmed it in Austin) coming out of a phone booth to see Big Ben having a time-warp affect it. Got to see Jessica Alba from afar, but the film looked just as stupid while shooting as the trailer seems. Cannot believe Ricky Gervais has a voice as a wise-cracking dog, ugh.

I was astounded when you mentioned there's a thatcher film. I won't go into the details as to why people don't like her in the UK trust me there are many.
Won't sell alot here in the UK infact I'd say more of the far right in the U.S will probably take a look.

Hollywood is either remaking a movie or making a sequel. Nothing original under the sun, the investors only care about making a profit so they will keep making these shitty derivative movies. Sad really, but they will keep making them as long people keep watching them.

You forgot prequels, movies based on comics, movies based on books, movies based on book series, movies based on old TV shows, movies based on old cartoon shows, reboots, rebootmakes, rebootquels, prebootquels...

A Thatcher film! Very divisive prime minister in the UK. As a film fan I just think of the video nasties bill every time I hear the name. She also single handedly ruined British Ice cream by inventing the technique of pumping it full of air and seaweed extract. So Margret Thatcher is the reason Ice Cream tastes slimy and weird instead of like ice cream and why a generation of horror fans had to watch butchered movies and umpteenth generation bootlegs VHS casettes.

I'm probably odd man out for saying this, but I have never seen a spy kids movie. By the time the first one came out I was a teenager, and a very opinionated (even for a teenager) one at that. The idea of spy kids always seemed really dumb to me. I think it was because the basic idea that a kid was going to be a spy kinda seemed counter intuitive since kids don't know how to blend in. Loud annoying idiots that they are.
Poor, poor, poor, poor Jake though. He's had to sit through so much crap this summer. I bet after further reflection he will say smurfs was the worst movie this summer. I think next time you guys do this you should mix up who gets to see the more likely to be shitty movies more. That way we don't need to get a suicide watch out on Jake.

agreed on that!

Hey Brad, did you know RR actually makes these movies because he knows they'll make money and he wants to finance shit like Machete? I thought that was hilarious.

Did you have Jerid sitting on your dashboard recording this or something? How did you shoot this? Was Brad really able to talk in such an animated way while also holding the camera -mostly- still and to operate it's zoom features, etc.

lol well i thought it was badass when lucy lawless fought in xena while pregnant and after she gave birth she fought with the girl in the napsack but she even had no choice ...and she felt bad for doing so.
as for these movies i fucking hate 3D and smell o vision i had one from cartoon network and....it smelled gross XD i think it was cow and chicken and ah i kinda saw it's purpose but it was useless but i bet the smell o vision is less than the crappy 3D bullshit that i think spy kids themsevles used too before avatar decided to bring it back fuck man ...sad to see this go XD well can't wait til the next vid i really do like jake

Thanks for all the videos of summer releases.
I kind of wish I didn't watch these reviews. It would have saved me a lot of money not having to satiate my morbid curiosity of all those bad movies I normally am able to ignore.
I blame Jake for me having to sit through Mr Popper's Penguins and Smurfs.
Too bad Aroma-Scope didn't end on a fart joke. It would have been nice to have everyone who watched SK4D leave the theater with their hands smelling of poo.

If Brad does midnight reviews for Breaking Dawn (that will have the mandatory "Jillian kicks Brad out of the house" gag) and the Hunger Games (I want to see his reaction to the idea of an Americanized Battle Royale ripoff) then I will die a happy woman)
