Why ya'll hating on Hot to Trot this was one of my faves when I was little!
I do like this series but it seems because of it's style being like a sitcom it takes ya'll longer to produce and edit.

Why would someone make a movie with 80s Bobcat Goldwaith as a principal character? That's Box Office Poison.
Don't even joke about Danny Elfman's music being bad. Everything that guy touches is gold.
I've never seen Hot to Trot, but I remember zoom shot of Dabney Coleman laughing with those goofy teeth on, and I still think it is the funniest shit ever.
Lillian's angry delivery of her one-liners were hilarious.

Through the magic of looking it up on Wikipedia, I have found the following absolutely true facts about this movie, cited with an article by a writer involved.
1. Joan Rivers was originally cast in the Bobcat Goldthwait role.
2. They dubbed all of John Candy's lines in at the last minute in a desperate attempt to save the movie after test audiences hated the original cut of the movie. The original voice of the horse was Elliott Gould.

Sorry I'm just now watching this, I was just watching Breakin'. Hmm, 80's Dan and Breakin'? I could've just given Brad an idea for the next episode of 80's Dan. It's a hella better movie than Hot to Trot.

I just love the 80'ies dan show.
But i really found rob the robot's memory creepy - the watchmen theme, jerrid's voice and the subject creept me out, which was the goal anyway.

I dunno if you really did like this movie Brad, but in my opinion, I understand why this has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That scene with Burgess Meredith as a fly made me shit myself, that fly was disturbing to look at, not funny. Plus Don the Horse talking, looked laughably bad.
However, the 80s Dan episode itself, I laughed all the way through, great jokes and I hope to see more.

I remember seeing some documentary on 'movie magic' or something or other and they mentioned this film. They made the horse 'talk' by rubbing peanut butter on its gums, which made the horse move its mouth around like that.

Keep in mind, Brad likes most of the movies he reviews on this site. He likes "Hot to Trot" in real life. Therefore, take his opinions on the best SF blockbuster that came out this year...with a grain of salt.

Bobcat was in Police Academy III, as well, as the leader of the gang. I always loved that scene where they raided a grocery store.

Actually he played Zed the gang leader in 2, was the best thing about that movie and the entire series, and after that joined the force and was in the rest of the movies as a police officer. I don't know about PA7 since I always get so pissed off by how awful the first 10 minutes are that I never made it through.
ROB taking a dump was the funniest thing ever by the way. And I still love the credits since they're more 80's than Optimus Prime sipping New Coke out of Cyndi Lauper's ass. Great work on the series Brad. XD

Is anyone else disturbed by the lack of cowboys in Rock and Roll Cowboys' trailer? I mean, there was one guy who SORT of dressed up like a cowboy and had two pistols, but most of the time he was dressed in a tuxedo. What's sad is that the premise sounds awesome enough that I want to see it.

I picked up "Music from a Darkened Theater" on CD as a kid and fell instantly in love with almost every selection on it. "Nightbreed," "Midnight Run," "Back to School," and especially "Hot to Trot." Accordion and harmonica=bliss.
Haven't seen "Hot to Trot" since HBO gave it more than its healthy share of re-runs. They also introduced me to "Short Circuit 2," which is also a plus. I remember liking Dabney Coleman and Virginia Madsen a lot in that movie, and both The Replacements and the Beastie Boys were on the soundtrack. Shame they couldn't squeeze in anything from The Smithereens.
It's great to see '80s Dan return in the wake of Brad's valiant tenure doing summer midnight movies, fairs and, of course, more of the Snob. I'm already itching to see "Rock & Roll Cowboys," and that "Hawaiian Heat" theme/opening credits montage is still one of the giddiest things on this site.

I'm sorry, but I'm honestly kind of disappointed in the 80's Dan show. It's just another review show. I assumed it would be a sci-fi show, since Dan is a character who has the ability to phase through dimensions and time periods. Why is that aspect never covered in the show? Also, if he's from the 80's, why doesn't he have a mullet? I mean, really.

80's Dan is a mixture of sitcom, discussion, and "review" show. It's about a guy from the 80s and his robot who lives with people who don't like the 80's. The opening credits, and even some lines in the show (plus The Snob's Caligula episode and Brad Tries New Coke) explain Dan's origins. That aspect is covered in the show the same way actual 80's series covered stuff like that: in the opening credits. And I'm not going to give away Dan's entire origin story within the first 4 episodes. There will be plenty of episodes in the future that are plotbased with the character, and not them specifically talking about something from the 80s. Also flashbacks will be used.
He doesn't have a mullet because I hate mullets and not everyone in the 80s had a mullet. He's more the type who would have a flock of seagulls haircut before a mullet. No character on my site will ever ever have a mullet.
