Reviews: "Killer Elite" and "Blitz"
It's Statham night! First up, Brian and I talk about the new Statham/Clive Owen/DeNiro flick "Killer Elite."
Then, I finally got a chance to check out the other recent Statham flick "Blitz."

Do not want to be annoying as this was said before countless times, but you need to watch "Drive".

Yes Brad it is such a well done movie. Defiantly worthwhile.

Killer Elite has Mr Eko in it?? Sold! Honestly though, it does sound more appealing than I expected.

Went to see Killer Elite last night and thought it was great. I hadn't checked any reviews ahead of time because I wanted to go into it knowing as little as possible. When I got home to look at the reviews, I saw that it's sitting at 24% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics are clueless. It had a solid story, good action and good performances all around. And Robert de Niro not humiliating himself.

So The Killer Elite has nothing at all to do with the movie of the same title from the 1970s. It starred James Caan and Robert Duvall and was directed by Sam Peckinpah.

Is the killer Aiden Gillen? Because that's kind of awesome. (He's Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish in Game of Thrones and he was in The Wire.)

Aidan Gillen plays in Game of Thrones and was also Carcetti in the Wire. If you haven't seen the Wire do it, because it is probably the best show ever made.

Just saw Moneyball instead, but don't worry because I'll probably check these movies out when I want to. Did you know his next movie coming out on 10/28 is Safe, where he protects a little girl. Sounds like Leon: The Professional but with Statham!

Oops!!!! It won't be out until March 2012! Sorry Brad!

Killer Elite looks like one I'll have to see on DVD. The story sounds better now than what I understood from the trailers.
Oh, come on that Musketeers movie looks so cheesy it'll be awesome! I like that steam punk element they added to it! it might not have Victorian Iron Man but it does look like it's got a Batman like guy in the opening of the trailer!
Blitz I hadn't heard of before this but am curious now!
I still say you up load the Blubberella review!
Also, have you heard of a film called "Faust"!? I went by my local theater to see what was showing and that was listed and I looked it up and it sound interesting!

I don't know if you knew this but The Asylum IS doing a Three Musketeers movie. However, I don't think it has anything to do with anything Three Musketeers related except that there's three of them and a character is named Dartanian.

Regarding you guys' comment on The 3 Musketeers trailer:
Not that I'm defending Paul Anderson as I think he is a hack, but from the trailers of his 3 Musketeers it doesn't look as ridiculous or like an Asylum movie at all because the concept seems to be a steampunk re-imagining of the 3 Musketeers.
Concept wise, that sounds awesome! Sadly, it's Paul Anderson (Evil Paul Anderson that is, not Boogie Knights and There Will Be Blood Anderson) directing so it probably won't live up to its potential.

BRAD
I can't believe you didn't go see Abduction with Taylor Lautner.

if you want a real action thriller featuring a real man's man, you'll watch Abduction starring Taylor Lautner

Boy, Lloyd does NOT like to be ignored in videos. I can hear him making noises like he's saying "Hey! Jackass! Pick me up and show me off"! Lol.
Glad to hear you liked Killer Elite so much Brad! It's one of the movies I've been looking forward to seeing, hoping it would be good.

brad it's funny that you mention if killer elite was made back in the 70s it would star james caan and charles bronson because killer elite is a remake of a 1975 movie of the same name starring james caan and robert duval.

We mention Sam Peckinpah's "Killer Elite" in the review. It's not a remake, it just shares the same name. The Statham one is based on a novel called "The Feather Men" and is inspired by a true story.

I love it when people what the review, hear something Brad says, then repeat it to him as if they were giving him new information.

Hey Brad! Do Samurai Cop!

Haven't seen Killer Elite yet, but I liked Blitz. As you say it was just nicely done cop v psycho thriller. The killer is played by Aiden Gillen. He was also the bad guy in Twelve Rounds.
Drive from what I've heard sounds a bit like an up date of the Walter Hill movie The Driver (1978)
The Seven Ups is a great old movie. Scheider was good in action thrillers. Cohen and Tate may even have been his best role.

52 Pick-Up is another great Scheider flick nobody ever talks about. Sleazy, awesome, and filled with Scheider rage.

Good video! You know what would've made it better? More Lloyd!

Hotchkiss revolving cannon is a crank action cannon.

It's not that Blitz was bad, it just wasn't good. Just kind of a nothing movie. Every scene with the female cop was not only misplaced, but they spend all this time on this fucking story, that literally nobody watching a Jason Statham movie has any interest in watching, and then they don't even give a real resolution to it, making it even more pointless than it already was. It's a shame, they wasted a pretty awesome performance from Mayor Carcetti.

I have to admit, I thought the movie would've been much better if it was told entirely from Owen's point of view, and the fighting really didn't impress me very much. But, yeah, DeNiro was great - especially his action scenes, which I thought were better than those of the other characters.

Dont watch Three Musketeers,
its a waste of time.
Imagine an airbattle with airships where one crashes into Notre Damme and there is a climactic swordfight on the roof of the church.
That happens, and it happens boringly.
I have no clue how he pulled that off.
The movie seemed to me like Andersons attempt at Pirates of the Caribbean,
with the (air)naval battle with cannons and the swordfighting on ridiculous places and such.
