Midnight Screenings: "Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows" & "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked"
First up, Sarah and I see the new "Sherlock Holmes" movie.
Then Jake and Boyd reunite to find out if "Alvin and the Chipmunks 3" is a fitting end to the trilogy.
Then Jake and Boyd reunite to find out if "Alvin and the Chipmunks 3" is a fitting end to the trilogy.

Based off of just the screencap for Alvin & the Chimpmunks 3, Jake looks like he's about to pimpslap Brad for making him go see it.

Hey Brad, have you met the Farmhand? (slap!)
Reply to this
You ever want to be a farmer? Here's a couple of acres! (kicks in balls)
Reply to this
I saw the screencap and immediately burst out laughing.
I really hope you pay him for this shit, Brad.

I'm curious about something. Is there some reason why you don't simply keep the car running during these things? Is the noise of the car causing recording issues perhaps?
Reply to this
The noise of the car running would be too loud.

Aww, I watched your review first Brad.
I was looking forward to Sherlock anyway, nice to hear it was good.
Jake needs to be in more things and/or have his own spin off site. Seriously, he's Spoony, Snob and Critic rolled into one big ball of movie reviewin' rage.
Reply to this
I agree and I have even thought he could have this sitting in the back of a car as his gimmick! All they gotta do is sit him down make him watch a crappy modern kid's film take him out to the car and record his response and slice in some clips from the movie and ding we got a new hit show!

Holy shit I love Jake's reviews. Please give him more bad movies"

Wait, Jake never saw the previous(Or at least the first) Alvin and the Chipmunks? But in the Smurfs Review he said that Alvin and the Chipmunks was Citizen Kane compared to the Smurfs.
Just to let you know, the reason why I am looking forward to John Carter because it is being directed by Andrew Staton(A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, and WALL-E) and I want to see if he can transition from directing an animated movie to live action; Similar why I want to see Mission Impossible 4 because Brad Bird(Iron Giant, Incredibles, Ratatouille) is directing.

OMG. So not a better birthday present than getting to watch Jake get pissed of at CGI chipmunks.

Jack the giant killer is actually a separate fairy tale from Jack and the bean stalk. But given the current trend in these movies and how obscure a fairy tale Jack the giant killer is I have no idea which the movie might be based on.

Jake was the epitome of badass awesome and utterly hilarious, I salute you sir!

Ooooh Jake - your anger is like a sweet sweet drug which we are denied far too often. Thank you, your suffering sustains us all.

I'm really looking forward to John Carter of Mars because it's based on the books by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the author of Tarzan. As a resident of Tarzana, it's a point of hometown pride.

Well, to start off with Sherlock 'm really wanting to see this one and I'm glad to hear that it's as good as I've heard already! It's smarter than the people watching it!
I've been curious of Jack the Giant Killer since I heard of it being made, but ya'll's reaction isn't good!
DKR the trailer I want to see is the one Youtube keeps taking down! And Bane's prologue!
And The Huntsmen movie looks a hell of a lot better than Mirror, Mirror, but Huntsmen still has that Twilight chick in it and that makes me iffy on it!
Alvin and the chipmunks I don't wanta see at all but I've been Jonesing to hear Jake's rage review of it since November!
Glad to see he loved it so much! Tntin looks great to me but never read the books or saw the old cartoon before!
I still say the 3 Stooges looks alright!
We Bought A Zoo looks like generic family movie crap better suited for Halmark channel!
I do agree with Jake I'm a vengeful person if you've just spent the last few hours or days trying to kill me I wouldn't forgive you at the last second I'd kill you the most horrible way I could! XD
Can't wait for more!

Just seen Sherlock Holmes 2 tonight though I'm thinking of giving my own perspective on both films in the forum.
BTW, did you notice the actor playing the doctor who was given the package at the auction house in the opening scene? That's Wolf Kahler from Raiders of the Lost Ark (head-shrinking Nazi) and Firefox (russian agent)! Just some 80s-related trivia for you Brad.
Unfortunately, the only trailers I had were for M:I IV (would love to see it in IMAX) and the new Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (looks interesting in a David Fincher way especially with Daniel Craig in it).
Reply to this
The original "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" movie was boring, and insanely overlong. I have absolutely zero interest in seeing the remake, and have no idea why Fincher would remake it, or why they'd need to spend $100 million on it (which is asinine). If David Fincher was going to remake anything, he should have remade "The Human Centipede" with Kirsten Dunst and Megan Fox, and Udo Kier as the mad scientist.

Also, glad to see that it was your car in the Twilight review! And that ya'll can never get all that mess out! EVER!!!

One last thing! Hey, Brad what's your thoughts on FilmBrain's Chipmunks review in-which he at the end had some footage of ya'll from I think the behind the scenes stuff ya'll did while filming Kickassia and done the audio to where ya'll sounded like the chipmunks!?

Feel so sorry for Brian and Jake
Asshole Brad!
Oh well, we want more of The Cinema Jake!

Poor sad Jake..
Your suffering is our personal enjoyment!

Is there a pool on which movie causes Jake to snap and just beat the living shit out of Brad? If not I would like to start one.
Reply to this
I'm betting on it being the next Adam Sandler movie (you so owe me 20 bucks if I'm right).
Reply to this
What is Brad doing for Jake and Boyd that they would watch this movie for him and not Scarlett Johansson?
Reply to this
I'd just like to say how nice it is for you guys to say "I like how sweet the homoeroticism is" and calling out Eli Roth for his bullshit. I love Sherlock Holmes and always thought the Holmes/Watson relationship in the movie was great. I want to see the new one really badly.
Jaaaaaaaaaaaake, I love your rage. It feeeeeeeeeeeds me.

I found Mission Impossible pretty meh... But Simon Pegg was in it... So that counts for something. XP
Reply to this
Hey Brad, have you read/seen The Girl with the Dragon Tatto and it's sequels?

I've seen white girls go that ghettto it's not racist Jake.
A FUCKING HONEY BADGER!? YOU DONT FUCK WITH THEM!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7wHMg5Yjg
The "step off" thing isn't racist either excatly

In response to the Chimpmunks review, the actor voicing Simon is Matthew Gray Gubbler, who plays Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds (I may be a huge fan of that show, but even the presence of Reid in Chipwrecked will not convince me to see that movie).
Reply to this
So basically what you're saying is... the movie... was a chipwreck.
Seriously though, angry reviews are always fun, it's a bit of a shame that the midnight screenings period is so much shorter for December.

I would LOVE watching a show like that from him, and even have Jerrid in there as well to join him. Jake would act like a pretentious hot-headed character and Jerrid would act like an annoying but funny idiot. It would totally become a popular satirical review web-show.

This was a reply to the "12/16/2011 10:58 PM BooRat" comment, by the way. I reloaded the page to reset the security code, but forgot to click reply.
Also, just in case there's any confusion: I know that's not Jerrid next to Jake in the video. I actually was talking about the guy who referred to Asperger's as being "ass-burgers".
Reply to this
I totally agree with that idea too! Well, Jerrid and Jake are a lot like S&E were together! They bother don't seem to get along very well and when one loves something the other as to jump on them for it! It'd be a perfect show! Now, how do we convince the Snob of this idea! It doesn't have to be weekly just like Flaming Brian's Kitchen it can just be whenever! Once or twice a month at best!
I also say do them in order! Starting with like the 1st Garfield movie as I think that was what kick started the whole let's make a Live Action movie set in the realworld out of all the classic animated series from the 70s-90s! Actually I think Flintstones came 1st, but I actually liked that one!
Also, it's cewl dude! I thought it was to me anyway from the wording when it showed up in my emails!
Reply to this
If they actually go with that, give me your mailing address and I'll pay you for thinking of it!

Noah? Spoony? If they go with idea I'd just want a credit!

I'll try to e-mail them asking that they remember you.

We bought a Zoo sounds like the name of a Lonely Island song.
Also, Bitchmunks is awesome.

Brad, you make Jake buy his own tickets to this shit??

Boyd's look of disbelieving rage when Brad said he saw The Dark Knight Rises trailer made me laugh for a good five minutes. (And the fact that it's attached to Sherlock Holmes means I'm definitely going to see that in theatre.)
I'm also wondering what Jake and Boyd are getting out of this. I love my friends, but I think The Smurfs would've broken me, much less also seeing Spy Kids 4 and this. At least Tintin seems to be decent.
Thanks for seeing these movies so that I never have to.
Reply to this
At least The Adventures of Tintin looks awesome, hopefully Jake will actually enjoy a midnight screening for the first time since X-Men.
I know, it's not as entertaining for us, but the guy deserves a break.

About the assassination part, I guess you could go with the attempt on Hitler's life as an example of how a bomb doesn't guarantee the guy gonna die. Or the attempt on Margaret Thatcher's life, for that matter. Depends on the bomb, I guess...

I've yet to watch these, but Jake's face ensures that I'm in for hilarity.

The JFK thing was priceless!
"It was the first thing that came to my head."
There's further comedic gold in that premise on the JFK front...

I demand Brad sees the next cinematic abortion. Down with his reign of terror over the obviously still coked up detective from Midnight Heat.

I'm sorry Jake... but I unfortunately you are just the most entertaining when you're unhappy, mad, and raging about something.
How entertaining are you when you're mad? I think even Ghandi would be easily convinced to poke you with a stick just to see you rage. ;p

P.S. I love your new hair style, Sara!

I love how the Sherlock Holmes movie ended because it can lead directly into the comic Victorian Undead where Sherlock, Watson, and Mycroft must defend London from a zomble Moriarty's undead army!!!
Reply to this
Eh, I have to disagree with Sara on the Hunger Games trailer. Granted I never really felt the books were anything that special (mostly just a more kid friendly version of Battle Royale) but the trailer, and especially the actress they chose for Katniss, just strikes me as underwhelming.

I'd like to see Jake and Jillian see a bad movie together.
Brad makes a smart ass comment and then we cut to a scene of Jake and Jillian beating the hell out of Brad in the parking lot.
Reply to this
Wait...if the girl in the theater with Jake was 8 when the first movie came out, then she would be 12. Jake was disappointed that he couldn't see an under-aged couple have sex? This seems a little off.

When it comes to this crap, 4 years feels like 20.

I had the displeasure to watch the first two Chipmunks movies earlier this week. If the third is as bad as the first two...oh man, I am so sorry, guys.

...so, basically, Female Alvin turned into JesuOtaku during the salsa dancing scene.

Jake needs to have a web show where he watches awful children's movies and then rants about them. I swear to god, I will pay to buy the DVDs for him, just make it happen.
Reply to this
He could, couldn't he?
In fact, why stop at awful modern children's movies? He could look back at awful nostalgic children's movies and rant about them...as a sort of "nostalgia critic", if you will...

I think the reason that they killed him with the sniper is to be sure he was dead. Probably in the case if Sherlock had gotten their to stop the bomb he would have still been killed.
