And now? a 25 minute review of the 93 minute Cannibal Ferrox. I have been a steadfast fan of everything from the snob reviews, to radiodrome, to your films- but this trend towards extended recaps is getting very old. These are not reviews- these are long, running commentaries of bad movies with a few quips and skits thrown in, effectively neutering any mystery or desire that might be created around a movie. Why should I ever sit down with friends and laugh at that awful Anthropophagus movie? I've already practically watched the whole damn thing already.
I don't know what's changed from the early reviews until now- but I don't think it's laziness, or spite, or even not-giving-a-shit anymore. I think it's Channel Awesomeitis. Reply to this

Sequence of events notwithstanding- and obviously this is just an opinion- I think your work was tighter when it was shorter and I do not at all appreciate the trend towards extended recaps of a movie. You have to admit that, at a certain point, a review ceased to be an overarching criticism of a work and just becomes a play-by-play with commentary.
I am a big fan of your stuff and always look forward to it- but to film a "review" that lasts nearly half the length of the actual film is kind of obtuse. I doubt scripting, filming, and editing a half hour of commentary is any easier than making a short criticism- so what's the advantage? It waters down the genuinely funny parts, and ends up ruining the opportunity to be surprised or intrigued by the tantalizing glimpse that a short review may offer. Reply to this

To each his own =) I personally can't stand my old episodes. But these episodes were never meant to be taken seriously as "reviews." It was always meant to provides jokes or riffs at the movie from the point of view of a fictitious movie snob. In the old days there were fewer clips and it was very non linear because the episodes had to be under 10 minutes. Now days I can provide as many jokes as I want. The advantage is that I'm making the episodes exactly how I want them without any restraints. Also, look back at all the episodes in the past year. Even today it's rare that an episode reaches 25 minutes. An extremely high percentage of episodes in 2011 were around 15 or so minutes. "Keep Up the Lust ET" and "Los Tortugas Pinjas" were even under 10 minutes. And that wasn't because of a time limit, it's because I had no more jokes to say about them. Long or short, they go on as long as I want them to. Reply to this

Hey Snob, great as always. You made me happy once again! I love "Antropophagus" these days. In my childhood this was an infamous banned flick in my country and I never was eager to watch it back then as just what I heard about it was already too much. Then I saw it as an adult and laughed my ass off as it was kind of tame after all those "Evil Dead"- and Fulci-films I had already seen. And then I started to like it a lot. It is slow and it is different. Maybe it's the fusion of the flick I've never seen as a child and the real thing I've seen later. And I like the location it is set in.
Recently at work I stumbled across its twin. I was thinking about Cameron's "Aliens" and somehow suddenly "Antropophagus" came to my mind. Strange how these two movies have some similarities. I really don't think that Cameron knew of this movie. I'm sure it's pure coincidental but it made my day. Just think of it: In both movies a woman joins a pack of strangers to get to an abandoned place she cares for, well more or less. Both "teams" find it deserted. One team discovers a little girl hiding from the danger. The other one too. Both girls need help, or lets say a mother. One because she is blind, the other because she is still pretty young. Both "mothers" are accepting their roles as caretakers. In both films there are bloody scenes of birth-giving so to say. At the end the heroine-mothers are in a kind of hanging-dilemma after the short relief of a false happy-ending. There is also a moment of betrayal in each of the movies. In "Aliens" this corporate-guy locks in Ripley and Newt together with the facehuggers. In "Antropophagus" Carol (Kerova) is locking Tisa Farrow into I guess a cemetery so that she gets killed by the monster. It's funny when you start to think about this stuff and you find similarity after similarity... I love this shit!! Have fun! Reply to this

is zomnbi 6 the same film as Absurd/Horrible? That.s what I know the sequel as and it's Halloween style slasher,

Great review. I must admit, this change of pace is great. I was getting a little tired of the lighter-toned movies and porno spoofs. Don't get me wrong, those are all fine and good, but not in quick succession like they seemed to be. These new reviews have been just fantastic and they remind me a bit of your Cannibal Holocaust review, which is one of my favorites of yours. Keep up the good work.

I called my girlfriend a hot little pussied whore and it worked just fine.
Don't see what Hubert was complaining about.
The end here seemed odd. Is shit about to get real?
What could there be that's so horrific?
I am intrigued and terrified.

Jerrid's McNitpick character name was Herbert? I wonder what he might look like?

I love that the show has gotten darker. It's like the old days of the show crossed with the current style.

The pregnant lady was played by 80's Italian soft porn actress Serena Grandi.

Wow. Could that have been the darkest joke he's done on this show? I laughed very very hard.

Are you "Zeke" as in the rapist from the movie Pulp Fiction?

That's Zed you're thinking of.

It seems like these reviews have gotten better and better at portraying The Cinema Snob character. It seemed like he had gotten a little static for a while there.
Anyway, this was another good review and I can't wait to see the next one.

So is the Guinea Pig series next? That's pretty dark stuff.
Reply to this
Ah! The notorious Guinea Pig series! Well, I tried watching the first but couldn't make it through due to it being pretty boring and kind of pretentious, but somehow I made ti through the next one, Flower of Flesh, which is supposed to be more disturbing than the first, but I came out nearly bored to tears, even more so than Antrhopophagus and just as somewhat as pretentious as the first one. Which is sad because it's just a little over 40 minutes. Then again, this is why I don't like the majority of torture movies, not because they necessarily disturb me, though A Serbian Film did, but because they are boring.

Fetus taste really good.

So, does this count as a Brad Tries?
Reply to this
Yeah, Anthropophagus one of the most boring horror movies I've seen. This why I approach any Joe D'Amato horror film with hesitation. I guess all it takes for someone to like your movie is one guy eat his guts and also a baby made of raw rabbit covered in delicious bacon, or that's what Jay Slater tells me in hiw awesome book Eaten Alive! Not that I have a problem with eating babies. As a side note, Horrible (a.k.a. Absurd, a.k.a. Zombie 6: Manhunter) wasn't as badly paced. I think though the only four good things about this move has going for it is its title, it's poster art (mmm, classy

Actually, I'm pretty sure Anthropophagus is a Pokemon.

I still don't get what the beast was trying to do by eating his own intestines? How would he digest them? and not like he was scaring the girl. the girl wasnt gonna ask him to share, was she?

I think it was supposed to be an act of insanity rather than any type of statement.
Also, it was there for shock value. C'mon it's a movie that features fetus eatin'.

Loved this episode, but man Brad, you are going to get so much shit for that fetus expiration joke I'm sure of it. lol!

I couldnt stop looking at the 8-bit art behind Brad, it looks cool. Jerrid was fun as the robot-chicken nerd caller.

What Version were you watching Brad? in the first scenes they speak german and after a while it switches to italian. I've seen a strange version where the scenes that were cut out are in italian but the rest in german. Anyway where was Brad Jones' infamous piano cat? Lloyd should learn to play guitar. The audience demands it

I used to session for the likes of Buffalo back in the day before I moved on to work with Blind Illusion and Aftershock in the 80s. If you listen to Bolt Thrower's early works circa 'Realm of Chaos' then you've probably already heard me play.
These days I generally just eat whatever Jones throws my way and attention whore abit on camera. I have to keep my public appearence up, and all. He seriously needs to stop feeding me the leftovers from Brad Tries, but whenever I walk into his v-logs to tell him about it he just give me a cuddle. A session-guitar cat called Lloyd needs more than cuddles to live on! Birds Nest wasn't as nice as I thought it was going to be either, and as for Thanksgiving Soda - dear god, I thought he said he's drop that shit off at the homeless cat shelter! Still, I'm aiming for being in the Snob movie this year. Problem is that Jones is auditioning other cats for the role... he says he's just keeping his options open, but I think he lacks faith in my cat acting abilities. If I don't get to play myself I may aswell whore myself out with lolcat pictures... uh... its so degrading.
At least IMDB is beginning to recognize my potential on film, I even have my own page up there!

I remember when you started this show, too- short, under 10 minute reviews of bizarre schlock, told from an almost mythical perspective of total system overload and cinematic decay. And now? a 25 minute review of the 93 minute Cannibal Ferrox.

Bullshit. The videos got longer when I moved away from youtube and no longer had a time limit (which is the reason the reviews were short to begin with). And my move from youtube to blip was long before I joined tgwtg.

I've been watching your videos since about late spring of 2008 while looking for some review/trailers for Burial Ground: Nights of Terror and was happy that you were able to get more into your episodes since starting up your website. Anywhos, I was wondering if we would be getting more Snob insights on some Mattei flicks. I know you have a whole show dedicated to him but I've always been curious on what he thinks of some of his earlier movies. His two nazisploitation films two w.i.p. films would easily fit into this new darker trend your doing this year.

I think what separates Brad from the rest of the shows like this is that all of the other people are clearly playing themselves, or themselves under some kind of nickname or handle. Brad is obviously playing a character, which makes the show very funny as both a satire and a riff show; plus he's a good enough actor to pull off this personality that is completely different than his own. In my opinion he has the best comedic timing of any of the tgwtg people.

ITA, and just an aside, I originally found him/his site outside of TGWTG. The Snob is great fun and informative-- which is something I appreciate.

I've been watching your stuff for a while now and I must say that I thoroughly enjoy coming back to this site and watch the vlogs and crossovers and whatnot. I admit that I feel hesitant before starting the Cinema Snob episodes most of the time since I'm a bit of a pussy regarding goreflicks. I generally don't like unnecessary violence - unless it's made very well with no silly "oh this is so shocking"-Saw/Centipede theme. Like I saw the devil for instance. Oh, getting off track here. I just want to encourage you to keep going, you provide quality entertainment and food for thought!

Ahh, more and more proud of my country's movies... ummm no, actually no.
So strange for my brain translate Brad, then listen italian voices, then Brad again, then italian voices again...weird.
I want a bis! (a.k.a. to do it again in operas)

Oh, also.. I wonder if there will ever be a Snob review of The Toxic Avenger. I know it's one of Brad's favourite movies, so it would be awesome as a 200 episode anniversary.

How funny! I was looking through DVDs last week and saw this and immediately thought, “Looks like something Brad would review!” Nice call-back to the Cannibal Ferox review, too.

The eating the fetus part was hilarious. I have actually heard of people eating the placenta after they or their spouse give birth. And planting it in the ground with a plant. Eww.

Brad do you seiously have worse? You've shown E.T. fuck and get fucked. You've shown movies with zombie porn, corpse fucking, cannibalism, actual animal slaughter. Films shot on camcorder, superhero porn, pedosploitation. You made a film about drug addict pornstars making snuff films. If there's worse out there (excluding A Serbian Film, which is past your cutoff) I'm scared. Keep up the great work!

Have fun!
